Donny Mills ?...

have to do rotator cuff exercises and keep them strong to avoid shoulder issues, people usually find this out after they hurt there shoulder and there's nothing like your elbow/forearm flaring up and screaming out "leave me alone" if you work out seriously you know this lol

82.5 kg / 181 lbs Bench Press Alexander Johnson 120.00 264.50 9/2009 Cleveland, OH

You should have competed nationally. Here is a national record holder at 182 pounds who only benched 264.50 pounds .

I know, everyone back then told me I should've competed. I believe to this day I still have the school record for benching the most percentage of my bodyweight - 206%.
Although I think the competitions are harder...I've heard in some you have to pause with the weight on your chest for something like 3 seconds before pressing up. That's much harder, I'd have been lucky to get 240 lbs in that case. I also hear alot of records now are hugely inflated due to these 'bench shirts' that allow guys to bench 1000 lbs that would only be able to due 650-680lbs otherwise...seems kind of silly to me.

I heard he can bench press 500 lbs., but it has to be his weights, in his gym only...... and no other feats... :)

I'd bet against this for a good amount largely to do with his frame...u see lil guys all the time at the gym do large amounts of weight because they have shorter wingspan to go down then up...Taller guys with longer wingspans will be 100 to 150 lbs behind the shorter lifters...I'm 6'1" & when i had all kind of enhancment in my system including HGH & roids my max was right under 400 lbs...now my lil cousin was lifting 550 but he was 6'4" and weighed 310lbs

Just re-read ur post & saw the humor...sry..lol

Your right about this, the shorter guys with smaller arms are more compact, the taller guys can usually pull more. My friend and I were talking about this the other day, he is around 6'3 or so and probably 260 I am guessing, he mentioned the same thing along with them not being able to do many pull ups.

you have to learn to coil your body and use your energy from your feet on up, you will be in a cocked position ready to explode the weight up. your back has to be arched, shoulder blades squeezed together, the bar has to be lowered to your lower chest where your at your strongest and will be the shortest distance to a full rep and will keep your front delts out of the lift. Its all technique.

Bench pressing is one of the worst chest/tricep workouts. Ask anyone who knows about lifting weight and they will tell you that not only are there way more efficient ways of working out these groups, but they're also a ton safer and less injury prone than a bench press. Dumb bell flys and presses at different angles will give you better results by themselves

Donny definitely spends time in the gym and it wouldn't surprise me if he could lift 300 lbs

Of course with the bench shirts that are allowed in competition today, the hardest part of the bench press is getting the bar onto your chest.

Watched a dvd with him playing. it looked to me like he was a pretty big guy. Ive often thought I was to big (muscular) to play really good, but after seeing him Id say there is hope. Do you think he can bench 300... hes got to be close..

I could do 225 for 3 sets of 10. I never tried maxing, I think I did 250 for 6 once. I'm 6-3 and my weight fluctuates from 188 to 210. I've always been weak at benching. Pulling was my stronger point. I will never bench again though. I hurt my shoulder in summer of 09 and it hasn't been the same. For the first month after injuring it I could barely move my arm, I was scared I wouldn't be able to workout or play pool anymore for that first month. It was a horrible month. Then I did physical therapy for a month and that made a huge difference. I mostly do incline dumbbells and cables for chest now.

Working out doesn't hurt your pool game. I started working out march of 98 and Ive become a ball or 2 better since then.

Now the question that everybody wants to know....Do you rack your own or does someone else rack the plates for you?

I can press Donnie Mills with one hand! On my floor jack, lol.

Jay pressed me, many times.
To the back of the seat in his '67 Vette
427, 4 speed, dual quad. For a small guy, he sure had a heavy foot.
Man! That was some car. Not too many things faster back then.

I used to be able to press 245.
Now I can press 2 reps of 45.
