Earl calling out Joe Rogan

A) Rogan makes a video calling Earl a dope smoking idiot in so many words.

B) People suggest Rogan man up and play Earl for some cash and suddenly Rogan is a huge Earl fan.

back·ped·al (bkpdl)
intr.v. back·ped·aled or back·ped·alled, back·ped·al·ing or back·ped·al·ling, back·ped·als

2. To move backward by taking short quick steps, as in boxing or football.
3. To retreat or withdraw from a position or attitude

I think you are reading this wrong.

If Joe was not a fan of Earl's in the first place how do you think he knows him well enough to do his voice so well ? I am 100% positive that if Joe really wanted to skewer someone he could do something much more cutting than having a little fun with a two minute video.

Watch this interview with Earl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIY3K5mMCks and tell me anything Joe said is too far out there.

Earl is just Earl. He had me so mad at him during the Shane match in 2007 I was ready to kill him. An hour after the match I would have given him my last dollar. Anyone who has spent any time around him knows what I mean. Just because someone has some fun with some outrageous comments and behavior doesn't mean they don't like the guy.

Also Joe has already said that he is willing to play Earl, things just have to work out for everyone to be in the same place at the same time with some kind of fair game. Just like any other match that ever takes place.

Also Earl is nit allowed to concede games. Let the fans see the few shots that Joe gets to shoot.

Btw. I watched the video of Joe practicing at home and was VERY impressed.

Um, did you mean Earl is NOT allowed or were you intentionally calling Earl a nit? :grin-square:

It is hard to make a game with a champion in rotation. I was thinking 5 out and the breaks so Jay's game sounds pretty close. I have played Shane goofing around getting the 5 out and it is not as easy as you would think. Hard to use that weight when you don't ever shoot.

Scooter plays better than Joe by a few balls and Shane gives him the 4 out so that should tell you how hard it is to make a fair game with a monster.

Games on the wire can be a good way too.

Being as this is more exhibition than anything I think whatever happens it should be very simple and easy to understand.

It could make for an interesting thread with all the different possibilities though.

Hey Justin,
Good Luck convincing anyone, I tried..
I made the same reference to Shane-Scooter match(4-out)..
Hard to win from the chair..
I think your on the money Justin.
If there is a B player out there that wants to play Earl with the 8-9 last 3.
They need to get their head examined..

If someone has been around pool longer the Jay Helfert, and knows how people should play.. Please Let us know who you are, and your credentials.
Best,
Ken

How can everybody who had a great time laughing at the Rogan video be so sensitive about a joke about Rogan?

I actually thought the video was kind of funny myself but there is no doubt Rogan opened that door and has to expect some to come back at him now.

Humor.
Jokes.
Fun times.

I guess I missed the joke.

But the fact that you are now saying it was a joke is somewhat ironic and I like that.

I couldn't disagree more with ur assessment of the situation..Joe said he would..asked for Jay to make the handicap...Easy to see he's not doing it for the money..Even compared it basketball & for a basketball fan to have a chance to play a pick up game with Michael Jordan...It's obvious he is a very busy man with alot of ores in the fire..And the timing is the only issue...personally i think it's great that he would take the time to do it in the 1st place...Joe has my props for sure.

I wonder if Earl would agree to fight Joe as long as they tie up Joe and let Earl use a baseball bat?

This is less about Joe's actions and more about your lack of ability to properly psychoanalyze people and ascertain their true emotional state and meaning behind their actions.

It was quite clear to most people that Joe's impression of Earl was that of a lighthearted jibe from one who in fact appreciates the man being impresonated. It is akin to Don Rickles roasting Dean Martin, a harsh critique which creates a type of caricature of the target and inflates the faults as a means of creating an amusing comedic result.

Sorry it blew right over your head, stick to Ace Ventura and slapstick I guess...

The sad thing is I agree with most of what he said in regards to the purity of the game, getting rid of jump cues, people playing the exact same style, ect...

My favorite part was when he said "They took away my fingers"

An old sayin of mine !

In my old fighting days we use to have a saying...He with the most friends always wins....when it got hairy with more than one person involved...I would be more leary of Joe's friends if it came down to a bat beating then Earls...just saying...lol:rolleyes:

This is a fair game I think, playing 9b on the barbox Joe gets 10 on the wire going to 30 with Joe getting ball in hand after his breaks, thats huge on a barbox, maybe adjust Joes number a Little

Probably right about that one. My fighting days are long gone.

I knew a marine from Brooklyn named Gutierrez who went out of his way to start fights even in Vietnam. I saw him take on five guys once and they all got hurt, one ended up paralyzed from the waist down. Even with some friends you have to be careful.

The joke was if there is a backpedaling championship I'm backing Joe Rogan.

How about this one? If they put a cholerserol limit on this forum, some of you guys would be in big trouble.

Humor.
