Earl Shane II

All what you say has merit...only thing is it don't give anybody the right for a free pass.

True dat, Troy, but in pool, like any other business, you accomplish more with honey than vinegar. This is why most players don't contribute to AzBilliards Discussion Forum. The colloquy can become unpleasant and mean spirited sometimes. :(

I don't know about Gulyassy, but Earl's goal appears to have been to show that what he has been saying all along is correct, that on a ten footer with small pockets he would be vindicated as the best. If you were him you wouldn't go backwards in position either. Instinctively you KNOW this and that's why you are calling out Gulyassy instead of Earl. If you don't like Earl then go beat him to shut him up. If you can't, then look at yourself honestly as to how you measure up to him. If Earl wanted to be universally loved like Efren then he would have changed his behavior a long time ago. What he wants is to be right.
I wish a more sportsmanlike player would go beat him on the ten footer. But if Shane beat him again on a 9' it would just give Earl more ammo on his bullet points. Earl has been pretty cool and sportsmanlike since this win.... do you really want to give him reason to revert back? I don't. So give him credit ~ I do. It was a legitimate achievement.

Mike is the money man, mike is the one to call out and mike keeps ducking the question. Why should he take this up with earl?

Mike vs. Earl

I didn't say that he shouldn't call out Mike Gulyassy. Do that all you want, but Earl is a grown man who could find a backer or use his own money. For what, 10k? That's not Dippy level action, it's medium action that Earl could probably afford if you called him out. Anyway try to see this from Earl's point of view..... he won. And you want him to go backward when in his mind he AND the game went forward. And from all the talk of making Diamond 5X10s, they both DID.

Off the subject for a second.....

Hey Troy ~ I feel for Louisiana farmers that are gonna get wiped out..... hope you don't get affected.

Just to go over a few of your points:

1. No player is more sportsmanlike than Shane - he took Earl's BS the whole first day and didn't once lower himself to Earl's level of childish behavior.

2. If it was agreed upon that Shane could get a rematch on a 9' table if he lost, that's all there is to it - he should get his rematch. Whether a 10' proves who is better (i agree that it does) is irrelevant. It was agreed upon before they played, and it should be honored regardless.

3. Earl has been pretty cool because he has been winning. I'm happy that he is again as he's a great player. But, he's always only been one loss away from going back to throwing tantrums.

It was a legitimate achievement that he beat Shane - Earl played his butt off and got the win which he wholeheartedly deserved, but to renege on a rematch which Shane was promised before they even played has to be called out.

And what does Shane say about all this?? I haven't seen any quotes from him about it.

You're absolutely right. This is a case of the rail getting upset about something that's not been made public.

This is nobody's business except the players and the stakehorses. Whatever was said, if anything was said, whenever it was said is an unknown at this juncture.

Again, I have no firsthand knowledge of said match, I am not related to nor interested in the outcome of any prospective match. :)

Shane was promised a match on a 9' table if he lost on the 10' table. Calls were made immediately after the match and Mike G. would never set anything up. Mike G. is only as good as his word and in this instance that isn't very good at all.

JAM it is amazing how much you can crap you can type without any knowledge on a subject.

Earl is a joke and horrible for the sport, he obviously has many mental problems and it is a shame that he doesn't seek help.

I am done with being involved with pool.

Good Luck!

John,if what you say happens then all loose.I for one hope your just shooting from the hip, think about it please, for all the rail birds, players & coat tail hangers. Truer words have never been spoken then your post above but do think about that last sentence for all of us.

Um, John Mars was staking Shane in this game, so something from Shane has been said. They were promised a rematch in the negotiations for the first match and now it seems to be ignored.

I would like to know how this works.
Does Earl's side put up $10K & Shane's side put up $10K ?
Also if a rematch was promised it should be honored.
Has Shane's side been trying to get a hold of Earl's side to set it up?

if it was discussed and agreed to prior to the first match then it should be honored plain and simple

What a train wreck this has turned into. It seems as a collective whole the pool world could find a way to fvck up an anvil.

I wish we had a 5 post limit in threads to minimize groundless speculation and conjecture by people who have no earthly clue what the hell they are talking about.

John came on & pretty much said what the deal was in a nutshell.

Thank goodness for AzBilliards Discussion Forum. I'm going to post a hundred times a day if I want to. I won't be bullied by anybody saying otherwise, either.

Believe it or not, Troy, this forum used to be a comfortable place to hang out. It was enjoyable to post here, networking with others, exchanging ideas, making new friends, and keeping in touch with old ones. What you see is what you get with me, too.

I have never understood why some people think it's okay to target others time after time again with mean-spirited words at every juncture. It reflective of their character. I have never, never, never worshipped money, the way some folks do. I don't think money should demand respect from others. Some bankrupt their own morals to chase that money because they're so damn broke inside their very souls.

Rather, I judge a person by their character, how they have interacted with others in business and in personal life. Having money doesn't give somebody a free pass to be a jerk to others and threaten them with bodily harm because they don't like them.

Quite often, I have seen people in the pool world worship money, so much so that their own values seem to go out the window. I knew from the first few months of your membership here, Troy, that you have integrity. You treat others with dignity. It doesn't cost anything to be nice, but for some reason, some members of this forum feel the need to rag on others ad nauseum to pump their own inflated egos. It's called megalomania.
