Earl Vs. Shane Action Challenge Poll

Who will win the Action Challenge?

If Earl can muster some of that audacity he had at the table 20 years ago, this could be closer that people think. May depend on how desperate Earl is to win. When he was on he was amazing.

If they played the match on a Gold Crown, I think Earl would have a fighting chance, IF he hit his top gear for an extended period. If the match is played on a Diamond, I give Earl almost no chance, as he struggles on Diamonds (comparatively) and has made no secret of his dislike for them. Personally, I would rather watch Earl and Keith play a race to 100; we're talking great play, great charisma and unlimited potential for a true pool classic.

Shane is probably playing as well, if not better than, anybody in the world right now. As a fellow South Dakotan, I'm a bit partial of course, but I can't imagine him being anything but a favorite here. With that being said, I sure hope Earl gets a hold of himself mentally. There is no doubt in my mind that he can still turn it on if he's focused and ready to go. If Earl's right, I think this could be one helluva tooth and nail fight.

The difference between the votee's is that those that voted for Shane would bet their house on Shane winning... Those that voted for Earl would have to get odds to bet a snickers bar on Earl winning.

Your correct, from the poll results it looks like i will bet 1 snicker bar on Earl to anyones 4 on Shane, any takers out there?:D

Ridiculours

This poll is ridiculous. No one actually believes Earl will win. Those people who voted for him did so out of false loyalty or an affection for a childhood hero. Earl doesn't have a chance. It is quite obvious. Even his backer knows it as he is now looking for partners so he doesn't loose as much.

I don't mean to be hateful, but this is not an action challenge. This is like watching a deer caught in the headlights. If anyone here thinks I'm wrong, put your money up and partner with Mike to put Earl in it ... or better yet, take Earl even and I'll bet on Shane.

I agree. Everyone says "if this, or if Earl that..., or Earl 20 years ago..."

Reality is.... today is today, and yesterday is forgotten. Shane's gonna run over Earl just like that Anderson Silva ran over Rich Franklin the other day in the UFC. That's exactly what it'll be like. Repeated knees to the skull.... lights-out.

US Open finish

I got to the US Open last Wednesday and Earl was already eliminated. I didn't get to see him hit a ball and on the other hand I watched Shane put on a 9 ball clinic in each match he played. He beat Ronnie Alcano twice and Ronnie is the current 9 ball World Champion and believe me that was no easy feat for anyone.

In my opinion Earl can't beat Shane at this stage of his career. Shane is the man in 9 ball and if there's any doubt just ask Corey. I've watched 9 ball most of my life and Shane's game is awesome.....

if yesterday is forgotten.... then they are both even.

Jack Nicklaus still has more major wins than Tiger. If the two were to go heads up in match play today, who would you pick?

Same thing with Shane vs. Earl. Whoever thought up this match is a locksmith. How about something we want to see - Orcullo, Busta, Yang, Alcano, Archer, Morris?

This will be about as exciting as the Patriots vs. the Dolphins.

LOL...I see where you are coming from but I think people are forgetting sometimes that this whole thing started about 90 DAYS ago because two guys from this forum started BS'ing and said "Why not?" It is not like we have the pool world on speed dial and can call up Busty and Dennis and be like " We need you in Louisville to play 10 ball.....oh yeah and bring $10K apiece to bet.....uhhhh huh...screw the visa, just get here.":D :D

It would be really cool if it worked like that but it doesn't.

To me it is funny because 10 months ago everyone would of said Shane is nuts for playing Earl even. If it is something no one wants to see I guess we will just eat it on this one. Personally, I can't wait to watch it.
