Maybe Earl has been hustling all of us for the past 10 years to make one big $10k score! :D I can only dream..

I tell ya what. If Earl really did feel that he could win. I'm sure he could make a LOT MORE than 10K on this one. In fact, I would venture to say that with the odds he could make 6 figures.

I wish Earl and Mike the best as well. It may take heart but from this side, it looks more like suicide. I commend them for getting in the box, however. I will be in attendance for the challenge and I just hope for a competetive match. A little Earl Strickland "friendly banter" might not hurt either. It might keep my fiance awake, who has vowed to attend as well. Good luck to both players and holler at me at the challenge if you are in attendance as well...you cant miss me...i am the ugly fellow with the hot girl...just lucky I guess.

Money is posted. If either party doesn't show the posted money is forfeit.

All of our matches require up money. Keeps everyone on the same page.

I would just like to say that Mike Gulassey deserves a lot of respect for putting Earl in the box. As far as I know he is not a rich man and $10K means as much to him as to most of us. He should be comended for putting his money where his mouth is. It is a not as common a trait as many would hope for in the pool world. He has his reasons for looking for partners and he along with Earl have given their word the match will go off.

I believe them and think that it takes guts and heart to take a tough game when everyone says you are the dog. We all talk about respecting people who have heart, yet when someone shows a ton of it they get little respect.

Thanks. You know I'll be watching!

I will also be watching. I don't think that there will be a shortage of viewers for the match. Everyone likes to watch the spectacle that is Earl. Some people watch Nascar for the crashes and the same applies here. I also don't think that it will have a negative effect on TAR unless Earl walks out early. $25 is not a lot to pay for a long match like this. I think everyone realizes that Shane is the overwhelming favorite but I will gladly pay the money to watch the kid play and to see what Earl does. The matchup may not be as good as some others , but the entertainment value is there I believe. IMO

I supported the TAR guys from the very beginning and they both know this. I think these challenge matches on the "net" are a great thing for pool. I advised them against making this particular match for various reasons I won't go into here, but they booked it anyway. More power to them if they can make this one work. I see little interest in this match up, other than to see what Earl might do. Will he blow up is the biggest question.

I had recommended other players (like Dennis Hatch) as good opponents for Shane. That would be an exciting match!

I for one, question whether this match will even come off. I sense some apprehension in the other camp and that may include lack of funds. Earl may not want to play and come up "sick" after his return from the Philipines. Nothing would surprise me at this point. I'd say it's 50-50 that this match will go. Good luck on this one TAR!
You have your opinion and you are entitled to it.

I can not speak for Chad and the rest of the people at the Action Report but you have lost all of the respect I used to have for you. Your behind the scenes machinations to sabotage this match have not gone unnoticed and will not be forgotten by me.

What part of commitment do you not understand ? Shane agreed to this match during the first Action Challenege and he is honoring it. I spoke with him on Sunday night after he returned from the Open and asked him if he wanted to stay in Asia. He said no.

Shane understands commitment. Asia isn't going anywhere and by all accounts he is the favorite to win $10,000 in November. I also am curious as what the hell gives you the right to mess with my livelyhood and business, or Shane's for that matter. I have heard the things you are saying about Chad and I to people at the Open and elsewhere, you of all people should know how small a world it is. I really do not undertand what you hope to gain. Actually I think I do. You want to be the guy who brings Shane to Asia.

You really dissapointed me Jay.

What do you know about my business and about Earl to predict this future match up. You have no idea what you are talking about. When you refer to my business you need to have a clue what is going on. You are always knocking Earl, why is that? I think everybody that plays pool respects Earl. You do not and again I ask why? Have you ever played pool to make a living? Do you know what it is like to stare at a shot that is not makable and your rent is due. Do you know what it is like to not have health insurance because you spent your entire life to be a professional pool player. Earl will be there, he will play, I will be there, I will have the money. Now would you like to bet on that.

sounds like the rail is open....hope you get rich mike you deserve it!:D

Earl is my pick to win the Action Challenge. I lost my high speed connection just before the last challenge and wasn't able to see it or the U.S. Open. But I did watch the semis and finals of the world ten ball and saw nothing there to scare me, just good players playing badly. Earl beat Efren to a hundred in 9-ball and he'll win this too. Shane is the underdog. He will have no advantages in this match. If you think he does, then what are they?

Care to wager a sweat bet to make thing interesting?

I'm pretty sure he was talking about betting on that himself, earl, and the cash will all be present at the action challenge 2.

Imo, I think Earls best shot at winning is finishing up day 1 being up or behind by no more than 5-10 games.
I hope we get to see earls top gear!

Geezz!!! I think I otta call Tanner "Tannerdamous". How the heck can he maintain all this V-cash??

I think he got this idea from that referee from the NBA finals... rigging the games and calling unneccessary fouls. :p

Tanner, stop that young man! :D

BTW, can I have 500 v-bucks as well as your v-car? :o

lol, if you really think that Shane is the underdog here then I can see why you are the unknown pro.

Poll

Everyone voting in the poll should be required to bet at least $2 per vote. I believe this would eliminate all but a couple of those. Yes, realistically that is nearly the line. Anyone betting on Earl, can win all the money bet against Earl. I nearly guarantee the votes for Earl to drop.

Earl vs Shane

Everybody thinks Earl has no chance at all. He once was the best in the world. That takes a special person to accomplish this and I think Earl can find it within himself to regain his form and yes I believe Earl can plan up to 95% of his best speed from over 20 years ago. At that speed he has a chance (although very small) to win.

If Jay Helfert gives me 100 to 1 odds I will put up 100.00 and bet on Earl and if Earl wins I get 10,000.00. If I win I will give Earl 5,000.00 of it. THIS IS A SPECIAL ONE TIME DEAL FOR JAY HELFERT ONLY. Jay has been around the pool world forever and his word is as good as gold.

I'm willing to throw away 100.00 for just the fun of it to sweat this match. People that know me know that my word is everything.

Two conditions: The match must take place. If Earl quits Jay wins by default.

Sincerely,

Bob Olson

lol, If someone gives me 100 to 1 odds then I will escrow $5000 agaisnt their $500,000. I think that Shane has pretty much a lock, but come on 100 to 1? I'm serious about the bet by the way. If anyone wants to escrow an amount and give me 100 to 1 then I will take Earl.
