Efren Retiring

I heard somewhere that Efren might be retiring. Anybody know if this is true or not?

The only time I've seen this mentioned is in this hypothetical thread where some people missed the "if" and took it seriously instead of hypothetically.

So, as far as I know, he is not retiring.

I started a thread a few weeks ago asking if Efren was all set money wise for WHEN he retired. Johnnyt

Yep, that's the one I mentioned in my post. I think some people took the "if Efren retired" thing as factual instead of hypothetical

I guess I'm not as big a fan of Efren's as I thought I was.:( I don't even know what kind of car he has, let alone care that he is retiring it. (What kind of tires is he getting??)

Wow, a sense of humor ! Is that really you or someone else using your account ?

That was I that thought he was retiring. One night I thought to myself after watching his challenge match with SVB and couldn't bare to watch him lose that way, and said it to one of my friends watch before he does retire he's gonna play Shane again for bigger cash like his match with Earl.

Wow, someone sees him asleep in the sport book of the Rivi and next thing you know it's all over the internet he's retiring.

It would be a big loss. Efren is not only one of the greatest but also very humble, a feature rarely observed in pool.

I don't know how he could retire as well as he's playing. I have some videos of him playing perfect 9 ball at the DCC in the last year or two. I did hear him say in the interview after the match that his back had been bothering him and it affected his one pocket game. It didn't hurt his 9 ball game though in the matches I have. He put Mika in his chair and just played perfect 9 ball.

At the most recent Derby Efren won the 9 Ball event, came in 2nd in the Banks, and won the all around Master of the Table for the 5th time. So yeah, he probably is not retiring quite yet.

Say it ain't so.

I feel sorry for the old folks in "the home" if there is a pool table around the place.

To paraphrase and old saying...
Old pool players never retire, they just fade away.
I can think of very few pool players who have actually retired and I can't imagine Efren being one of those few. Yeah, age will lead to lack of energy and diminishing skills, but as long as his cash flow is positive he'll never stop playing.

If he retires he could show up at Derby City and auction off his cue for a nice chunk of change, but I don't see him retiring.

I had to laugh at some of the commentary about Efren not playing as well as he used to and Efren complaining about his shoulder bothering him at Derby City. Even a lot of veteran pool players fell for that. Maybe next year he will arrive in an ambulance and play in a hospital gown.
