Efren Reyes new cue

The thing that makes Efren shoot so well is he uses a water buffalo scrotum wrap on all his cues.

Maybe just urban legend, I heard from knowledgable sources that he used to just borrow a cue when he got to events, it drove players to a frazzle that in essence he played off the wall and waxed 'em, that makes me feel good to believe that. I know this is abstract info in regards to this thread, sorry. I know nothing of his current cue, even though I actually saw him using the one pictured above at the derby.

He was still using the Titlist conversion by PD last night.

Speaks well for Titlist conversions. Nice to see him going "wrapless". Now there will be a 10 year wait for Diveney's.

So great that he won the 10 Ball too.

He's always been "wrapless". :grin-square:
His $15 cue had a snakeskin wrap that was sprayed-on with lacquer.
His Moochi had a sprayed-on linen too.
All his Judds were wrapless unless you count masking tape ( when it got cold at DCC ) as wrap.

Gomez still has the double-ply leather wrap I put on him last year. His pred's wrap was so thick, when I took it out, I had to double ply two thick leathers to replace it. Ugh!

Yes...I heard last week that Efren and Bustamante are now using Diviney Cues.

But, it's hearsay.

Thanks, Joey. Are any of the other Filipino players using Predator shafts now? I know Efren doesn't like them.

Alex is the only other one I think.

It's actually kinda odd seeing some of them shoot with a 1" ferrule.
I just assume everyone shoots with a shorter ferrule nowadays.

I think he uses a unicorn ferrule. Makes all the difference.

Is it made out of Unicorn tooth for it looks like ivory?

The short ferrule is really the trend and I for one like it. Also, low tips.

I was at Tiger and we were messing with the ferrule tip combinations. My impression that on short ferrules it's better to have a medium material like Juma and a medium hard tip because you can really feel it if you get a too- hard tip on a short ferrule, especially if the tip gets shaved low. Also with the trend of shafts getting lighter, you can feel the tip more.

The short ferrule takes a little getting used to as far as looking at the shot, but that only takes a short time.

Efren

Just saw a video on the main page-an interview with Efren and info that hes using a new cue, anybody knows what cue is he talking about? :)

I knew when I first saw your thread title you would get a ton of answers that are typically useless BINGO. Would be nice tho for some particualars, wood types used/length/weight/was it production or not, did effie design it, did he change any dimensions/weight distribution compared to his last cue etc. The lack of respect our USA society here has for our game is ironically parallel by many responses to this thread.

Short ferrules are the nuts

I asked Efren about that titlist cue at the derby. He told me it was made by somebody Green in Houston. Don't know anyone by that name; maybe he wa just messing with me.

I think it was a cue belonging to Glenn in Houston,a cue that was made for me some years back.

At any rate I am pretty sure,Dennis owns several of Efrens old cues as well as many of the other great players.
If this is the same cue he now plays with it is not made by the cue makers that have been suggested

I was led to understand that Diveney was going to make his cues, and had beenn fixing his shafts and putting on the tips, but the cue he played in Galveston was something different

Efren's cue now is on an agreement he sells it back to the original owner.
I don' know how many cues Glenn can own from Efren.
But, my guess is he has the Jessie and the Moochi.
The first Judd JT1 now belongs to Glen Capacio ( a bblaller and a good friend of Efren ). The fancy ivory-pointed Judd was bought by an Arabian gentleman.
I have his Linds cue.
I have no idea where the Mezz went.

I think that the answers Joey has given should be definitive enough for anybody. Thanks Joey.
