I was practicing left handed in an action room early in the day once.
.....I stink left handed.

A guy walked over, grabbed a house cue, made a point of rolling it to show how crooked it was.
He said " Wanna play some?"
I told him we could freeze out 5 ahead if he played with that cue.
He asked " How much?"
I said "Everything you got."

...man found something else to do

I hope all my opponents don't care about their equipment.

If this upset you that much that you needed to waste space and start a thread over it you need to either give az a break for a while or get therapy.

I just reread it .. I missed the stereo typing hahahah oh I see your an ass hurt political correct liberal .. now your post makes perfect sense. carry on...
You really couldn't be more wrong. A liberal or politically correct is about as far from me as you could get. Forget the stereotype comment, I was running out of things wrong with it. The point was never that I found it racial or offensive. I don't. The point is that it is a cliche.

I could understand posting something like this somewhere deep on a Cleveland Indians forum. But here, not so much. Then again, some people got pissed at the "yo quiero taco bell" commercials too.

Completely not my point. Of course you can say whateverthehell you want.

And it is absolutely not about the validity of the saying.

I'm just suggesting that if people could come up with something slightly less stale, it might not seem so much like 1962 to new players who stumble upon the site for the first time.

Something new... its not the twitter, its the hitter. Its not the iPad, its your stroke's bad. Let's see, you can still text if you're all thumbs.

What the hell did that mean? :slap:

It's not original, it's not clever, it's obvious, it's hackneyed (look it up) and at best it's stereotyping.........maybe worse.

If you want to express that skill is more important than a cue, just say that or at least come up with something original.

I agree. How about some of the icons some members use here to identify with. They are really crude, inappropriate, and sexist!

You can turn them off in your settings. I like titties so the avatars stay for me. I turned off signatures though. The forum is easier to navigate this way, IMHO.

Indians/Bows

One question, what if the Indianans are otherwise equal ? Only part Indian myself and it doesn't seem to help. My friend Mr. K. Redhorse seems to have issues also so I'm confused.

compounds forever!

Of course it is cliche, but very true to a degree. All things being equal, the better equipped participant should come out ahead.I stress the word should. It's not always a guarantee.Notice how I hedged my bet there?
Marc

And there lies the problem... better equipped. We know an F14 fighter jet is better than a Lear Jet, but pool cues, who the hell knows... they are all just too similar.

They are pretty much made from the same woods, the same stuff, etc, and everyone uses a different cue, and world champions have used cues from Cueteck to Richard Black.

The big difference lies in the weight and shaft diameter and the tip you have on it. I once offered someone to take their best cue and play it against on of my inexpensive cues, and I'd bet my cue can make every shot their cue can make....

I don't recall ever missing a shot because of my cue...but lets talk about jumping up. check. rushing the shot. check. not focusing 100%. check. taking to long. check. mechanics falling apart. check. not getting in the right alignment. check. plain old fashion choking. check.

Bottom line. The best "indian" will beat the best "arrow" everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. I'll take Earl with a house cue against an APA 5 with any cue in the world ;)

You no like um Indians and Arrows, Pale Face?

I grew up sleeping in a Tee Pee. I used to walk up hill to school both ways in my
moccasins.

Then when I was 15, I couldn't take it any longer. My Mother sent me to see a Dr. in the big city.

I told the Dr, sometimes I dream that I am a Tee Pee and sometimes I dream that I am a WigWam.

The Dr. thought for a moment and said, "I think I know whats wrong with you".

You are two tents.

Besides, I play pool with a lot of Native Canadians. They like that saying very much.

And the many that hunt, use rifles these days. I doubt that any but a couple that I know could hit the broad side of a barn with a compound bow, but they can shoot pool real well.

So this player that I know that lives on the Rez has a neighbor that raises Buffalo. One day one Buffalo broke the fence and wandered onto Native Land.
He takes his rifle out and shoots it.

He says, "My turn to shoot your Buffalo, White man. True story. I laughed real hard when I heard that one.

Okay, it's not the pistol, it's the cowboy.

I was thinking more along the lines of, "it's not the Banhia, it's the Xylographer", or how about, "it's not the adenotome it's the archiator" or maybe " it's not the annona-squamosa it's the costermonger".

Maybe the simile Indian and arrow is easier to understand. Or how about, "it's not the cue, it's the cueist".

Better yet why don't we stop discussing WHETHER it's the Indian or the arrow? Those threads come up every week and there is no right and wrong since its either preference or in your head! There is no answer, I haven't been on the forums very long and I'm already tired of it
