Europe rocks

Thank you for explaining my words correctly. I think I made a mistake in thinking the readers on this forum could have some seriouse questions in a "fun "war" kind of way. Thoughed that would spice up the borring questions I have and would get more readers involved. (half the objective was achieved) :)

Yes, it was a mistake :/
I find that certain topics are best to just avoid. You cannot have friendly debate about nationality, at least not on this forum... arguments are 100% guaranteed.

It's a shame because this kind of topic is meaningless, and people will make enemies and cause real anger (or at least irritation). The birth country of a pool player is not worth that kind of negative crap.

I mean, if you're gonna fight with someone for hundreds of posts, at least make it about important stuff like abortion and gun control for god's sake!

I am Berry, indeed trainer/coach of the Dutch pool Youth, next to that I play / train with Niels Feijen.

Since the Netherland doesn't have the quantities (pool is not very populair)we work hard with our talents to achieve quality. On our group of 8-10 players (age 12-18) we have 2 coaches and one sport psychologist / pedagogue. We train about 5 weekends a year as a group, they get (pool)homework, we go to youth tournaments and all is focussed on the European Youth Championships. All is a complete sport program based on LTAD together with our Olympic sports centre.

Other youth programs are now in many European countries.

Does Niels Feijen gamble?

Does Niels Feijen gamble?

Yes. At least he used to. I saw him in a game of stakes in Laurel, MD at USA Billiards one night. His lovely girlfriend Katrina even got some action in straight pool against another local for small stakes. It was a fun night! :)

When I started with pool it was USA all the way, then the Asian invation came who kicked ass with very effective pool, now it seems like the Europeans took that effective pool and added some mojo to it.
Checking out the youth the Asians are the dominators but new rising talents from Europe are on their way (check out resent results on the Europeans).

Question is:
Where is the USA?
Is there a plan to do something about this?

Yes there is a plan. Its a secret so don't tell anyone. Tomorrow night we are gonna get in paddle boats and cross the big water. When we arrive in Europe we will storm the towns poolrooms and flip all their tables over and take the cue balls back with us. Which should end their precious practicing. That way when they play thier next event they will be out of practice and lose in a miserable fashion along with heckling and flung pop corn, MUUUHHHHAAAAA HHAAA HA!

Whatever, all you Europeans. Sure, you guys are on a roll. But remember, you'd all be speaking German if us crazy Americans didn't show up.

I saw him at the Derby give Sparky the 7 and pretty much robbed him...

I think Niels is a good player and person. They sure are tall over there in The Netherlands. Did you know that the Dutch lead the world in height? :)

For reals?

Who or what is "reals"?

The population of the Netherlands is physically the tallest in the world, with an average height of 1.83 meters (6 feet) for adult males and 1.70 meters (5 feet 7 inches) for adult females. A few centuries ago, it was among the shortest. The reasons for the increase in height are uncertain.

And they are also famous for their flowers. Wow, I'd love to see this sight. Mmm, I can almost smell them. How beautiful! :)

Also the Netherlands make perhaps the best Billiard tables in the world - Verhoeven -
and also the home of many fine 3-c players including Dick Jaspers and recent WPBA qualifier winner Tamara Rademakers comes from there.

Damn it!

I can't beleive I've been missing out on threads like this while I've been slaving away and travelling the globe - what a waste! :(

The posts about the United Kingdom not being apart of Europe were comedy gold!

But anyway sticking to pool, I agree it's not fair little old England shouldn't be made to have their own team, we NEED Europe (well the big bit of land I mean). But ok if you insist we'll just have to rustle up this team and hope we don't disgrace ourselves!

Can't we get the 7 for being a small uncontinental island?

Land of the free?

One thing I can never understand is the old "land of the free" stuff, sure compared to Iraq or Saudi the USA stands tall.

I'm currently in Atlanta and I can't help wondering if my stalk had dropped me off here...

...I wouldn't have been able to gone out drinking at 15 (18 legally)
...I wouldn't be free to gamble
...I wouldn't have as much free money after tax each month
...I wouldn't be free to watch uncensored TV
...I wouldn't have free health care
...I wouldn't be free to visit Cuba
...I wouldn't have had free University education
...I wouldn't have been free to lose my virginity at 16!

That being said, I've probably experience more of America than most of the posters on this board and it's still a fine country.

The deep southern hospitality has been wonderful, it's certainly true that the more nationalisitc members of this forum are a very poor example of Americans in general.

UMMM that's "Land of the free, Home of the brave (and probably should say "and multi times savior of europe"). Not just those two....you've obviously never heard of the other 201 soveriegn nation states of the world! :)

Why not? I started at 13 (18 legally. But then I'm old).

...I wouldn't be free to gamble

Ever hear of Vegas...the boardwalk....Indian Casinos....Reno???

...I wouldn't have as much free money after tax each month

Sorry to hear about your financial misfortune in the current economic climate. Yes, we are looking at much higher taxes here with the Big O and his political cronies in complete control of the government. :frown:

...I wouldn't be free to watch uncensored TV

The BBC is uncensored??? WOW!

...I wouldn't have free health care

Since they don't take much money from you....who's paying for that??? Guess your doctors have to rent their clubs.

...I wouldn't be free to visit Cuba

Yes.....the great socialist paradise. How come every 10 years or so thousands upon thousands of these happy Cubans risk life and limb to escape to the United States? Well never mind, I'm glad you're able to support socialist utopia.:bow-down:

...I wouldn't have had free University education

What, you mean you didn't have to work?? What was it a scholarship, a grant? We have those things too.

...I wouldn't have been free to lose my virginity at 16!

Well I don't mean to brag but us hospitable southerners get started much earlier I guess.

Nope, us nationalistic Americans are pretty much the norm here. You just need to get out more.

Oops I forgot...

...free to drink alcohol in the street
...free to cross the road where I want too

I've sadly only been to 64 of those country's you refer too so I'll bow to your experience, should be at around 125 in 5 years though so I'll come back and try to offer a more informed opionion then.

THat goes for the US opinion too, I've only been to about 30 states, lived and worked on the west coast, east coast, deep south and florida, played pool in many more. I'm just not meeting the right rednecks damn it!

Hey mate,

It's pretty nice here, its much less touristy than most big US cities which is good, apparently I have an accent! ;)

Not sure where Macon is, Im living in Hotel next to work next to the perimeter mall which is north. plenty of pool halls in the area but mainly been hanging out in Mr Cues as it's closest, nice folks.

Macon is about 45 mins to an hour south on 75.
It isnt too bad of a ride if you have some free time on a weekend.

If you want to have a taste of some real down south pool room flavor then there is another pool room called L and W on the southside of Macon.

It aint pretty and it aint classy.... but there are some pretty good players

I have some close famliy ties there and I can make sure you are taken care of if you want to stop by.
