F/S Joe Porper model B lathe

Yeah, it was no biggie to me either Joey. I tend to try and pay things forward when I can. It was just the attitude that came later that made me re think.

And as we used to say in the Carnival Business.

Nothing but wagon tracks and popcorn sacks.
In the morning, we'll be gone.

Like Gypsies in the Night.

That is too bad that there are scumbags that take advantage of the good members on here. I have had many good dealings with AZ members but have ran across a couple that were low life scam artists, they know who they are and they still chime in on the forums like they are saints. For the most part the majority on here are decent upstanding members.

Thank you to all the members that have been great to deal with and good karma to you.

And its not only that part Buzz, I know I have PMed you several times for certain info that you shared with me as well.

The good dealings also extend to people sharing their time and info.

I can fully understand and sympathize with people that have a run of bad luck and are financially down for the count with no one to turn to.

I think that many of us have had that experience in our lives at one time or another, myself included. I ate macaroni casserole and beans and toast for many weeks while trying to pull myself up by the boot straps a few times in my life. I can tell you one thing, I did a second job or jobs that weren't very nice to get back but I certainly didn't turn to a criminal activity in order for that to happen.

Just because a person is having a hard time doesn't give them a pass to create a hard ship for another.

Paul had plans to use the Porper lathe in a mobile unit to create a bit of extra income for himself and his family.

Now, without the ability to proceed with his original plans, how does Dave know the impact that he has put upon Paul. Unless Paul gets a refund, it may be some time before he can get his mobile unit up and running.

So for every week that Paul is down, its costing him money.

I guess when you don't have a conscience, the only person that matters is yourself.

Maybe the next time Dave is in need of money for hospital bills, AZ won't be on his Hit List.

Maybe I am missing something here, but why start a thread about opening a new cue shop / repair shop showing a taper shaper and a porper lathe only to put them both up for sale within weeks of showing pics of his new shop being built out?

How is he planning on building cues, doing repair or building pocket chalkers without a lathe unless he is planning on using the tool box lathe to do all of the above.

Regardless I hope you get your refund back or an explanation of the lack of communication from Dave.

I guess money or lack thereof makes people do rotten things.

I thought the same. Why open a shop and down size your equipment.

Unless the pictures were of him closing up instead of opening.

Never know.

Hopefully Paul will get a refund from the CC company and they will pursue fraud charges.

Maybe needs room for pro shop?

I appreciate all the moral support concering this incident everyone, both public and private.

Dave IMO is a leech of society and eventually someone will put some salt and him and he will "melt" away.

According to my CCC, I will get a refund, it's just a formality in filling out paperwork and because I have to send items back and forth through mail, get some items notarized, it's a small process. One worth going through in hopes that Dave is brought up on larceny charges.

I try calling Dave daily. He then answers and hangs up until he is tired of this process and cuts his phone off and i leave a VM asking him to call me back. He never does.

I originally was buying this lathe as a spare for a mobile setup. My Plan A was to use a HF 7x10 with a steady rest I bought from Chuck Pilegis as a extra tip/ferrule lathe. When i saw the lathe I went to Plan B which was buy the porper and sell the 7x10. Now I'm back to Plan A which will be fine. If I come across another used Porper, Plan B will be back in effect:thumbup:

The only thing that I'm hoping is that other members read this thread and see what kind of person Dave really is. At the beginning of my post in publically asking Dave for the lathe to be shipped, this thread had roughly 1000 views, now it's at over 4500 views. So if anybody reads this thread and still decides to do business with Dave all I can say is buyer beware.

Thanks again for all the support

I hope this DAVE will learn his lesson. Im pretty sure he will be blacklisted here AZbilliards. Its a matter of time.

As far as coming back and posting in these two forums, I doubt he will get a welcome back party.

Mr. Wilson is on the ball with these ones. He doesn't like rip off artists or scams any more than we do. This is definitely a bannable offense by a member. However, in the past, Mr. Wilson doesn't like to strike with the ban hammer until the situation has been resolved. He likes to keep the possible lines of communication open for the other party to resolve the issue.

When it does get resolved, then he steps in and does whatever he feels is the proper thing to do there after. You can be sure of one thing tho. Wilson has his eyes on this thread.

Purchase.......with a note stating the money was for a porper lathe being sold on AZ billiards

Great! You probably only have to deal with PayPal. When the seller refuses to give shipping info PayPal credits your credit card and then goes after the seller. At least that's the way I understand it.

Good luck with a speedy recovery of your money. It sure looks like he sold the lathe twice. If he still had the machine why would he simply refuse to ship it?

You may be right in me only having to deal with paypal. However because I've never had to deal with someone I sent money to and they refused to ship the item or begin to ignore me even after publically and privately admitting to receiveing the money for a product they were selling on a public forum that shows a phone number linked directly to him, I'm trying to take all precautions.

With paypal, I filed a dispute, escalated it to a claim, and had paypal come back and tell me they had to investigate. So I went directly to my CCC, explained to them what was going on and they suggested I file a dispute with them, so I did.

And that was probably the safest way to go.
For some reason, I don't know how much I would trust Pay Pal.

I also sent a text telling him what a tool he is. Guys like that need a pipe to the head.

He must be watching his videos. My comment didn't last long.
Hahahaha. There is more than one way to skin a cat Shavey Davey.
