fargo ratings aren't very good or accurate

I am looking for the LIKE button.....
My statement is balls-on accurate, and it comes from Steve's original statement "I could use some enlightment on fargo without having to trudge through some long reading".
Were my words harsh? Of course they were. BUT THEY WERE FAIR. If you have a specific question about something then post it.
But on this forum, many, including myself, have gone to great lengths creating detailed explanations of Fargo rating because we know that they are the best thing to happen to amateur pool in a long time. When someone like Steve comes along and says, in effect, that he is too lazy to READ WHAT HAS BEEN READ, but instead wants it all rehashed for him, then I take exception with that.
If you don't like it too bad. Call me a dick, I don't care. Jackass? Hell I have won jackass awards before so bring it on.
For Steve and everyone else's benefit I will be creating a web page that has the dozens (maybe hundreds) of links to info and videos about Fargo ratings so that in the future when someone like Steve comes along, all that is necessary to have them self-educate is to provide a single link.

To be fair to Steve.....he is too busy beating champions to really do a search on AZ.

So is it fair for a guy that I can give the 7 to have to give me a 5 or 6 game spot? I haven't heard one person I know (and I know a shit ton) say they like or agree with the way the system can only fairly rank you with a certain amount of logged games. These people talking shit are the ones who support local state BCA events and pay their hard earned money to attend a tournament like BCA nationals only to turn around and give some ridiculous spot to someone they couldn't beat even. Just come back on after BCA with a graph of attendance to these Fargo rated tournament from last 3 years and I'll bet 500 it's at least 15% lower then previous 2 years. So I'll put my money where my mouth is. I gamble 2-500 a game one pocket so I don't need to play handicapped tournaments. I can name 40 people that will not attend this year that did last 3+ years to the BCA.
How many years has FargoRate been used at the BCA?
If it is less than three, your point in not valid.

If you would READ UP on how Fargo works then you would know that unless you have a certain number of games in the system, your rating can be skewed, and in my opinion, should not be considered for any handicapped match.
This is not a slight on Fargo. Golf handicaps are the same way. Unless you have a minimum number of rounds logged, the USGA and most local orgs will not even let you play in a handicapped tournament.
In a few years, after Fargo has had an opportunity to flourish and all leagues have had ample opportunity to utilize the system, I would hope that ALL national and regional tournaments that use Fargo for grouping or handicapping would mandate that players have a minimum number of games in the system.
And I would even go one further...that those games are not stale...that is all eligible players have a minimum number of RECENT games in the system.

so here is my question/beef with fargo ratings. ( this statement is not bashing fargo ratings, it was the starting of a question, which is my personal beef/problem with fargo)
fargo has me ranked 18th on the list below, virtually every guy ranked below me plays pool for a living, the majority of which I wouldn't gamble serious against. I don't even know how I got where I'm at?
( this is the question which no one has answered, including mike page! and since when is messaging someone who has a fb page NOT an exceptable form of communication asshole! I clearly stated my question about why am ranked there? all the guys I'm ranked ahead of play way more tourney's then I , and most play more consistent at that level)
lol I play a few events a year and did good in reno almost 2 years ago now at the bar table champonships. The only thing I know about fargo is that I guess you have to have 500 matches to be rated. 500 of what matches? league? tournies? I sent a fb message 2 weeks ago to the guy that created or started this system to ask him why I'm at where I'm at, no reply as of yet.
I play ok, but not for a living, and I have a full time construction job. so the problem is when I do decide to go play some regional tournament that uses this system, it is way way out of line with regards to the handicap. all based on some guys opinion or system.
( this part is true, because of this rating I have, I could be giving guys I play even with 2 or 3 game spots! but your ****ing answer is don't play handicap tourney's! so I'm not allowed to play a game I have played all my life because some system has me ranked wrong?)

Had you taken the few seconds necessary to press the SEARCH button on AZB and entered FARGORATE and actual read any of the HUNDREDS of Mike Page's detailed explanations of FargoRate you would know HOW Fargo works and that presently there is no way to look at what games were used to calculate your rating, but that will all change soon. Software is coming.
3. 200 games to have a "robust" fargo rating. 200 GAMES. NOT 500. That piece of information is printed EVERYWHERE. The reason you do not know that is because you are too goddamn lazy to do any research.
4. Fargo ratings are not based on "some guys opinion". It is pure mathematics. PLEASE READ UP.
5. I am not a "guardian of the threads". I am a staunch proponent of Fargo ratings. I run a pool league. I direct dozens of tourneys a year. I want to see Fargo succeed. PERIOD. Well here's some news! Most professional pool players and anyone else who can draw their rock thinks it's a F****** Joke! The BCA along with any other tournament will go to hell in a hand basket using this flawed system of ranking players. Just because 10 people have come on here and stood up for Fargo does not mean the majority of players like it. Keep on protecting your system and we'll sit back and laugh as the attendance to Fargo rated tournaments plummets! The system Sucks!!!!! And we're allowed to have that opinion sir.
