Find a Grave

A relative sent me this link to Find a Grave where they had listed my birth mother's grave. You can search for relatives. It is amazing how many people are on this website. Not everybody is, but a lot of people are. I found some relatives.

I discovered quite a few pool players grave markers there, which was a surprise. I'm sure nobody wants to have their name on this list any time too soon, but here's a few pool-related ones which I found interesting:

Alex Higgins
Ralph Greenleaf

Wade Crane
Rudolph "Minnesota Fats" Wanderon
Grady Frederick "The Professor" Mathews III
Willie Mosconi
Irving Crane
Steve Mizerak
U.J. Puckett
Luther "Wimpy" Lassiter

I got stuck on this site a few years ago. I spent hours on it. Kind of weird, but very interesting to say the least. Well, it is good to see that someone else likes the site. Anyway, I looked up some of the same pool players you identified. I believe one of them had a pool table for an epitaph. I still venture on there from time to time.

I've spent hours on it myself, I must confess.

I think you might be referring to Walter Lindrum.

Great find JAM!

You can also sign up to take pictures when someone is looking for a grave marker in your area and it is not listed on the site.

That might be the only list that everyone will make it on, but no one wants too!

I noticed something on Wimpy's page about him drinking "Orange Crush" and wondered whether or not that is where the pool term started. Anyone know how long the orange crush handicap has been around and whether it was started by someone who lost money to Wimpy, or by Wimpy himself?

That doggone tag must have fallen off my car when we were on the road up north, dag nab it! :p

One thing for sure, when you're on the road playing pool, sometimes on the lemon, it's not a good idea to have personalized tags that have anything to do with pool. ;)

Funny story about those tags. We were traveling to Valley Forge, PA one year, on our way to the Super Billiards Expo. En route in Maryland, Mike Davis saw my car, thanks to those tags, and followed us a way, to ensure he wouldn't get lost. Well, at least that's what he told us.

I follow the speed limits to a tee when I'm on the road, even if I get yelled at by my passengers for driving like a turtle. I don't care. Slowly but surely, I say.

When we got close to Valley Forge, PA, cars were whizzing by me blowing their horns loudly. Some of the cars had people hanging out the windows waving at us. Keith got mad, stating, "Can't you speed up a little? There's cars honking at us because we're moving too slow." I later discovered that all those cars were also going to the Super Billiards Expo. They were pool peeps and were just being friendly as they passed us.

Really interesting site. Thanks! Spent about 2 hours already looking through these.

I did the same thing. I still spend time on it when I have time. It's so interesting. I found a lot of friends and relatives.

A lot of military people are documented on this site. My cousin Leslie, may he rest in peace, was shot down in Vietnam in a helicopter. He's buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Leslie Shelton.
