Friday Open Thread: 32 Men Left Standing

Ok I admit earlier this week I was asking WTH is Chris Futtrell and asking why Efren/Buster are playing some unknowns Futtrell and his partner in scotch doubles challenge match.
Anyway Efren/Buste won handily
But question wanted to ask is Anyone know who won the 4th and last challenge match just last Sunday between Efren/Niels v Parica/Mika ?
Did not hear a peep about the result, maybe they cancelled it

You know, there's not much action reporting this year, is there? I wonder what's going on at Q-Masters. You'd think somebody would share some of the smut. I guarantee you if I was there, you'd have a full report with all the nitty-gritty details. ;)

I am still digesting that Chris Futrell just beat the guy that just beat Earl Strickland. Wow!

Hell yeah. Congrats, Chris!

Future pulled it out. What a match!!!!! Yes JAM....crowd goes nuts. No fingernails to be found in the place ;)

CONGRATS Chris for a great showing so far. Keep it going. Sending a shout out to the other Virginians (Bruner and Mastermaker) having a strong showing as well.

Apples is a beast hill hill he wins it again. His new nickname should be "King of the Hill"

So we are down to these 17 men standing
Winners Side Round 4
Ernesto vs Buste 0-0
Nick Eko v Kiamco 0-0
Dechaine v Orcullo 0-0
Boyes v Shane 1-2

Losers side Round 7
Niels vs Klatt (4-8) v Efren
Appleton v Quan 0-0
Futtrell v Thorsten 0-0
Peach v Justin Hall 0-0

Futrell is going deep, wow.

I don't wanna get his mojo black-balled, but

Keep it up fo the va peeps!

Go, go, GO!!!!!

No offense JAM but how do you or anyone else know how Qatar respects pool players. I am sure that if Johnny Archer or SVB travels overseas the real story of US pool isn't told and it is all candy canes and lollipops.

I think ONE of the ways you can tell if OTHER countries care MORE about ANY sport is WHO congratulates them after the event is OVER!

Efren, Buste, and quite a few other FOREIGN players have been called by or met with their PRESIDENTS after winning a World-class event.

When is the last time you've seen a pool player called by the President or invited to the White House?

You know, that is an excellent point.

D.H. Quan over Darren Appelton, 6 to 1. This will knock Darren out of the tournament if he can't fight back now.

Quan has beat Justin Bergman, Johnny Archer, J. Rodriguez, and D. Olsen to get where he's at now.

Here comes Shane with a win, knocking Karl Boyes to the B side of the chart.

Here's the first time I met Chris Futrell at 15 years old. He came in second place to Keith at the Virignia State Championship. A really nice kid from a good family, a supportive family. Nice to see him do well this year!

This guy can play. Could be anybody on a good day.

Too bad guys his speed don't get more chances to place in big events. So many players and so few prestigious events.

I agree. He's trailing Thorsten, 8 to 6 at the time of this writing. Both are in the loser's side. I hate to see wither one of them go, but my heart is with Chris right now. :lovies:

Meanwhile Warren Kimaco and The Greek, who just made the 2014 Mosconi Cup Team Europe, are tied 7 to 7. Tight match.

What the heck! Same scores on AzBilliards Live Brackets. No change. What's going on? Did our designated AzB scorekeeper take a snack break? :p

Bustie wins over Ernesto. This was a tough one for me. I like both players. I didn't want either one of them to lose, but, unfortunately, there can only be one winner.

Final Score................. 7?

Warren Kiamco and the Greek are still neck and neck at 9 to 9. What a tight race!
