According to the WPBA website, "President's Message Coming soon!" Perhaps they should get on that so we can refer to their site for news and not the blogs.
Well, looks like the WPBA will no longer have to worry about the person behind the PCN blog, whose blog post started this whole thread.
I have PCN as a Facebook friend, who is named Maximus Snarkinous on Facebook. This was their post on Facebook a couple of hours ago:
Maximus Snarkinous -
Blog is gone. Tell Rousseau that he won. Thanks to everyone who was a reader and supporter, it was fun while it lasted.
My response to that was this:
Shayla Neris -
WTF?!?! Seriously? Doesn't sound like you to give in.
This was their response:
Maximus Snarkinous -
when threats (veiled or otherwise) start getting thrown around, its time for me to be done.
Personally, I enjoyed reading PCN, and sad to see the blog go. www.poolcuenews.com no longer exists if you go to the website. Sad how people can't even post their own opinions anymore. I hope PCN comes back some day. Sure did seem to keep people on their toes.
The article states Goldman Sachs is looking to invest $4 million in the tour? I mean, wow. That would be an amazing jolt to the WPBA. I mean, it's difficult to ascertain EXACTLY what's going on from just this article. It's basically reporting how a large argument took place and how key players have taken root on opposing sides of the argument. It doesn't say a whole lot about the probability of a Goldman deal or the specifics of that deal. $4 million commitment would completely revitalize the WPBA. I have to imagine that deal is their top priority.
That is why we are patiently waiting for someone to chime in. Either to dispute it or confirm it.
And to be more specific, majority was used in the context of the players that actually do post online and have blogs, not the majority of the tour.
Much safer word is " statistically significant" and this will calm my friend jude.![]()
I want to add that I am all for personal expression and people speaking out when they feel they need to. That should be balanced with the responsibility of standing behind ones words. As long as someone is willing to stand behind what they say and put their name and reputation behind it and be willing to defend their position I think they deserve respect.
It is the anonymous shit stirring that makes me nuts.
The point is does the content have any merit or not?
You see I find that when people are cornered and they can't escape the logic of the debate then they resort to personal attack and when the other side is faceless then they have nothing to grab onto.
Then the most favored attack is "your words are meaningless because you are hiding".
Anonymous Shit Stirring is what fueled the American Revolution. If the authors of a lot of the writing advocating independence were known then they would have been jailed and harassed and even hung on trumped up charges as was done to many who were known.
Sure anonymous trolls are irritating, but the fact is that anyone is free to defend themselves. With every upside there is a downside.
So it's easy to create a blog and start posting anonymously. That's a plus. People can use that for good or evil. That's balance.

Really?
Then why do the postings of anonymous critics draw the most debate and vehemence?
I firmly believe in one's right to speak out anonymously. I also believe that in the face of being the target of many anonymous trolls throughout the years.
If it weren't for people's right to speak without identifying themselves then this country would be in much worse shape than it is.
Exactly.
Can't even begin to tell you how many people are mad, simply because they don't have a focal point for their emotions and anger when an anonymous person says something that they don't like or agree with.
Almost as if by knowing who the person is, they could somehow discount the words, or their meaning, by attributing other factors to the person behind those words, or have soemthing to focus their hostilities at.
I have been told several times that what i say would be a LOT more believable if they knew who i was, to which i know, that they are bent cause they want to know who i am and i don't tell them.
And also, just like this morning, i have been cursed out several times in pool chatrooms by people who are simply angry because of my anonymity, and nothing else, and they make it a point to bring it up ever single time they see me in chatrooms.
Like, get over it already.
So the current situation with the WPBA is equal to the American revolution ? I don't see it that way. But then I am talking about a specific situation not grandiose ideas out there in the ether.
I could start an anonymous blog and tell all kinds of shit. To what end? I have said some things that I know have cost me business because I believed they needed to be said. I did it without hiding behind a keyboard knowing full well I would be held responsible. We don't see eye to eye on much but you have done the same and for that I try to give what you say a fair balance in my eyes. Someone that stirs shit simply to create conflict without owning it just gets thrown out with the rest of trash.
You want to fix something step up and throw your hat in the ring. You want to b!tch about something fine but unless you also put forth an equal effort in fixing the situation it is just noise. My tiny friend who posted above me is a perfect example. She felt strongly about something, spoke out, owned it and is out there doing what she can to make things better. That is how it should be done IMO.
If someone told me to be quiet about something I believed that strongly in I would make a choice and then live with it. I also know that all the people who eat up the drama and conflict are long gone when it is time to pay the bills or do the work. Some rep on AZ and a few "You told them" emails doesn't fix anything.
Everyone has an opinion till it costs them something.

Here is Superstar, an anonymous reporter reporting a supposed rumor on a blog by an anonymous blogger:
"Well, I heard the craziest sh!t that I just have to write about. Rumor has it that el presidente has issued a gag order to the players, telling them that they are not allowed to talk to bloggers or post on the boards."
Here is Sara Rousey, a real live WPBA Tour player who posts on AZ in her own name:
"No one said to all of us that we cannot post on forums."
Seems to me that the truth is clear.
Thanks
Kevin
Exactly.
The whole point of the thread was to get some clarification ON said rumor.
