The extra money ball can drop on the snap - but can also be dropped on a 2 ball combination/carom. That will happen probably just as equally as making it on the break. And if it goes on the break, it can also go for the person giving the spot, thus taking it off the table and making it even.

By the way, I think that there are 100 men that could win against the top woman player gambling. 25 of them minimum would be Filipino, 10 from England, 5 from Europe, 2 from Russia, 3 from Taiwan/China - that only leaves 45 Americans/Canadians which I could easily list. The Filipinos & English also are not known for their breaking ability (except Bustamente) but wouldn't need it as Willie suggests.

Now, let me educate you. Have you every heard of a Filipino whose first name is Alex? Have you heard that he has a GREAT break???

I agree! 3 players from Taiwan/China! You really gave yourself a lot of room to work with there. There may be 3 kids from Taiwan under 16 years old who are favored over any lady. No disrespect to the ladies and their great play, but as we all can see, not too many people are jumping at the chance to play a non-top 100 player with the 7. Woofing is fun and all, until it is time to put up! Here is everyone's chance to put up any lady against a player out of the top 100.

Allison or Karen probably can't beat half the shortstop men in America, much less the champions we've never even seen from places like the Phillipines.
If they could match up they would, don't give all the excuses why they don't either. Because Karen winning a Joss tourney, is not the same as getting up and playing the guys for extended periods of time! Because if they did she wouldn't get there!
I've watched Ga Young Kim get beat for the cheese in Orlando by nothing more than a shortstop, and i listen to Monica and Helena ask for spots from Tony Ruberto at my room, and he's nothing more than a shortstop, whereas they are both top ten ranked women!
Needless to say i don't know what planet these people live on who think the woman can play with the men!

Posts like yours...and there are TONS of them, suggest the premise that there is something superior about gambling vs. tour sports.

The only thing correct about such notions is that they are two different things.

So, the Giants are really phony World Champions because the "match" was only 4 quarters...and not 5 or six...and because the player's were forbidden to gamble on the match?

Maybe they are phony champions but not for THOSE reasons.

The fever that surrounds pool gambling is just a commentary on how much pro touring 9 Ball is in the doldrums and has been for many years.

I like to wathc money games and have staked my share of them but it actually saddens me to see some of the great champions have to scramble for $1,500 prize money and/or be forced to gamble for a few thousand dollars to try to make a living.

There aren't too many pros who are happy about that state of affairs either.

And "half the shortstop men in America?" That's a couple of thousand right? So, you're going to pick any one of 750 players who have never placed, say Top 10 in a pro tour event against Allison or Karen? In "tour event" conditions and rules?

Oh...oh...you want 20 ahead...winner breaks...smoke-filled pool hall with people waking around all over the place...and what else? Drink a beer every 15 minutes? Would you permit a pee test before and after the match???

And do you think that Allen Hopkins and Charlie Williams are short stops?

I have to go along with it would be a bad game for any of the lady pros. I don?t believe Sarah would stick her neck out and name names that couldn?t get there with getting the 7 if she wasn?t pretty damn sure of it. After all she has to play with these same women on the tour.

I know that this isn?t the bet but I?d love to see some of the top ten men 9-ball pros play Allision, Kelly, Karen, or a few more on the WPBA tour some even up Snooker. If I can?t see that I?d like to see those same women, including X Pan, Jasmin, and Ga Youg Kim get the 7 and have a Breedlove, Archer, or the like break for them. This is actually quite disgusting, since you basically have to commit your whole life to pool to be great at it, but there is only the promise of parttime money if you're the best.
But yes, I do believe that if you take Allison or Karen off one of those tournament "perfect" tables with bucket pockets(though they're not as bad as they used to be), they will get freighttrained by the top men, and will get beaten by most shortstops!(maybe my idea of a shortstop and yours are miles apart! no AI and Charlie are not shortstops.)
I mean no disrespect to the woman, they are great players, and i would much rather hold a tournament for them, because so far every WPBA member to walk into my room has been a class act! The gap will close between the men and woman, it just hasn't yet!

First, thanks for your respectful post although we don't agree. In the same spirit, I don't think you know what I think a shortstop is and I doubt your definition is much different than mine.

But for the record, my definition of a short stop is a player is an EXCELLENT player but who cannot match up with well know pros or top road players.

The reason I asked you about Allen and Charlie is that Allison beat them both decisively at the DCC...winner breaks on Diamond Pros with pockets that no one would characterize as buckets.

Finally...I THINK but am not POSITIVE that the WPBA tour has used 4.5s for the past couple of seasons. As you know, that is a typical pocket dimension for male pro events.
