I used to think that GC1s had silver corner pieces and 2s had brass colored.
I'm pretty vague about some of the tables I've played on, but I'm getting clearer...thanx

The single biggest difference between a GC1 & 2 is that the 2's offered a stained wood finish instead of just the painted look of all the GC 1'S.

Very similar to the deal I got on my GCII, but mine was recovered 1 time since new. I got all the stuff that apparently came as a playable table "kit". I know mine is a GCII by the rail blind mounts and rail hold downs. Table was originally white, still had the plastic gulley blinds too.

wow, and I thought I got a good deal. What color was your originally? Blue?
Your clean up work looks great so far. I polished my feet, it would have been too much work if I did not have a lathe, but they show dirt and dust almost immediately being on the floor and all. Your idea of sprucing them up is probably a better idea.
My table was originally white. I sanded off the white and stained the rail blinds, when I did this the white had kind of a green tint during sanding. I figured it would be pretty easy to paint it white to make it look original again. Its kinda neat getting an old original unmolested table like that isn't it? I wish I had the original paper work like you have. I know the history of mine pretty well, I am the 3rd owner. The gentleman that I bought it from was friends with the original owner, he knows it was bought new from a Brunswick dealer with all the stuff I got with it but he did not know the purchase date. The gentleman I bought mine from wasn't even a pool player, he bought it so his grand kids had something to do when they visited but they did not really use it either. They each owned the table almost 20 years.

Early years only, then switched over to the metal name plate, still a GC1.
So after a couple weeks of cleaning/polishing/painting, the GC is making its way into the house.
The white bases and skirts were a bit discolored so I decided to repaint them. Otherwise, everything else on the table is original, just cleaned and polished.
I had SW color match the white paint to an unexposed area on the wall racks. Against recommendation, I sprayed the latex with a $16 HF hplv gun. I am very impressed with the results, especially on the smooth plastic aprons. I added a new GC decal from Ken at Classic Billiards.
All chrome was soaked in wood bleach. I learned this a few years ago on a motorcycle forum and it gives incredible results to rusted/pitted chrome.
Jack will be here Friday at 8am to install the table.

That cork is probably going to be LOUD.
I know there are some solutions you can soak cork with to soften them up. Let me find one and link it.

In case anyone is interested. I know where there are some GCII's for sale in Arizona.
before it gets put together, maybe you can take a tangerine piece to home depot or lowes for a color match and get a pint for touch up...
if you do, pls take a closeup of the label so I can have the correct orig color, too. :smile: :idea2: :yeah:
