Good Cuemakers On AZ

With all of the stuff I have seen on Varney and Wheat here it has me wondering if people think there is a lack of choices for cuemakers on here who are reputable.I personally have seen a few on here who are top notch and stand up guys like Mike Webb,Dave Albrecht who post as nbll01 and Greg Sirca who post as gsirca on here among others I have not spoken with or met.

I have been to Daves shop when he was here in Arizona before he moved to Ohio and he explained to me why he does things a certain way and I understood it and it made sense to me.The cues he makes are very clean and tasteful, they are players cues.He makes great cues that are affordable, customs for the same price as what others are selling conversions for.

Greg Sirca makes cues that are very fancy and when I see the prices I am blown away, yet the guy was ready to give up cuemaking I believe at one point.I like the style of his work but haven't played with one,but I have yet to hear anything negative about him or his cues.

Now Mike Webb,to me this guy is top notch,I met him at a Joss Tour event in Albany and had him do a tip.I got to try a cue of his a buddy owns and it plays superb.I really think he is world class and he post right here on AZ!

I have left out Tommy Migliore and Paul Rubino whom I have met who are great guys because I dont believe they post on here.If I have failed to mention anyone then please mention their name in this thread and tell us alittle about them.

So I guess what has me curious is with choices like these why would you choose someone else whom is suspect, meaning having customer service issues and whatnot?

Good questions man and the only thing I can think of is that people think they are saving a buck when in reality they are MUCH better off buying from an established, top notch maker. This board has several of them alone.
In my opinion, it is well worth spending $200 - $300 for a quality product than trying to save a few bucks. In the long run it just makes better financial sense.

Regards,
Koop - only let's Mike touch his cue, even before owning a Webb myself.

And...to actually provide something useful and OT:

One must include Pat Diveney on the list of thumbs-up cuemakers. Top notch customer service and product as well.

SVB, Luat, Baraks, Hennessey, Paglia:hug: :canoodle: and me:rolleyes: . No way we are all wrong!

I think you should also add Leon Sly to that list. He is an absolute pleasure to do business with. The cue I just bought off of him is immaculate. He's a pleasure to talk to and do business with.

From the cues I have seen his work looks great! How does it hit?

you left off masonh i don't have one of his cues but i have one of his shafts on one of my cues. he's real easy to deal with, stayed in contact with me the whole time, and made me a great shaft!

Thank you for starting this post. I am fairly new here and I am in the market for a new cue. So this is a good starting point for me. Thanks again.

Your welcome and I hope info from this post helps you make a decision.

you also have to include joe callaluca and tony zinzola on the list. both have proven to be great deal with and make great cues.

actually the more i think about it there's only one cuemaker on this forum that i've heard of having customer service issues (over and over and over and over again)

the rest seem to be on the up and up

There are plenty of good solid experienced Cue Makers here in AZB.

That is why it is sooooooooooooo damn surprising that you can come on here with virtually no experience making cues, start talking about how great you are, snap at and put down anyone who says you are the not the next Gus and soon you will have tons of azbr's eager to order a cue from you and talk you up like you are really are what you think you are! AH the power of AZ.

I would like to add Richard Neighbors to the list.He kept me informed during the building process and delivered my cue as promised.Business was done with a handshake.

I feel the same way, I've actually been close to buying a couple of cues off of here only to start reading more and ending up being afraid to order. I'm sure there are a lot of great cue makers on here, I just need to keep doing research on here and decide who I want to give my money to.

As you know, extra money isn't all that easy to come up with living in WV.

I've only got to hit a few with it (just got it Monday). But so far, the hit is phenomenal. I'm going to post a review with pictures in the next week or so, once I get to play with it a little more.

Several are really good

One thing Ive noticed is several are good, but ALL of them are improving on each cue.

Im proud of them, and thankful for their time they share.

Thanks guys.

Brent Hartman, BHQ.. easy to work with, excellent communication, good pricing, nice guy, flexible, on time, and most importantly, one hell of a cue! definately under-rated as well..

Gulyassy

Mike Gulyassy is another top notch cue maker who posts on here...I recently bought one of his J/B cues, and it is simply outstanding. Smooth and professional communication as well, Mike comes highly recommended. Check out his site www.babysproshop.com

Thanks,
J

Steve Lomax

Steve posts here occasionally but lurks more than talks. His work seems to be speaking for itself. I have a cue that is due to be delivered from him tomorrow and my jump cue should be finished in a couple of weeks. His jumpers are the best I have seen bar none.

Stevie Moore and Louis Ulrich play with a Lomax and Larry Nevel uses a jumper made by Steve and the only reason Shannon doesn't still is because I got his jumper. Other forum members including Wade and Southpaw have Lomax cues as well.

Steve's AZ name is Stevel, send him a PM anytime. (He might not answer for the next couple of weeks , he is in Vegas working at the APA.)

Cueman is the maker of Hightower cues, and I would have to think his workmanship would be good, but I have never even seen one in person that I am aware of. Willeecue on here makes a good cue that is a good value for the money. I believe JoeyinCali makes cues also and have not heard anything bad. There are tons more on here, but I can't think of the screen names at the moment. You might want to check the "Ask the Cuemaker" forum section for more ideas of who is out there, and what they are like.

On this website, the quality of the cuemaker is almost directly proportional to how big of an attention whore they are. In general, the louder they sing their own praises, the further I would stay away from their cues.
