Gordon Hart and his wife started the Viking cue company and built it into a very successful business. He's been around the pool business as long as I can remember. Gordon was a good man, a man of integrity who took pride in his work and the quality of his product. As Will said above, he was a friendly man, one who somehow managed to stay above the fray in the cue making business, and that wasn't easy back then. Men like him and Jim McDermott, Paul Heubler and Danny Janes were the true leaders of a fledgling industry at the time.

Gordon Hart

I used to play at Swank Billiards on Roosevelt Rd. in Glen Ellyn IL, next to the bowling alley.

It was around 1965-66. This man would come in once a month, dressed in a dark suit, looking sharp, and peddle his cues to the room mgr and owner.

As time went on, he made the Super Joint Cue and also added Ostrich leather wrap. WoW!!!!

He was always a pleasure to be around.

A larger than life man...

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the founder of Viking Cues, Gordon Hart. From the first cue he made in the basement of the Viking Pool Hall in Stoughton, WI in 1965 to a lifetime of building a world renowned product that included receiving the only Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Cuemakers Association in 1994 for his “pioneering efforts in the custom cue industry, and for establishing the industry standard of excellence for both quality and value”, Gordy touched the lives of so many and helped changed the face of the billiard industry. He will be missed.
God speed on your new journey, Gordy.

Gordie Hart remembered

I will always remember Gordie sitting comfortably in his directors chair in the Viking Cue booth at the Hopkins Show in Valley Forge . . . . looking ever so relaxed and in charge. Those who knew him well will miss him greatly - I sure will.

Condolences to his family - RIP.

It was a privilege to have known Gordon since the 80s though I did not know him well. He was also honored with induction into the International Cuemakers Hall of Fame. He will be missed. RIP

RIP Gordy. My first nice production cue was a Viking. It had 3 floating stars sitting on each of the 4 floating points. It was a nice looking cue. Wish I still had it :)

Try this one....http://www.gundersonfh.com/obituaries/Gordon-F-Hart?obId=6952001

I briefly met Mr Hart once at a BCA trade show...he was a nice man.
I was also a Viking dealer because of a sideways deal...bought all the stock from a mag
who had them from an advertising deal.

I broke with a super-joint until a friend liked it too much.
...I think a super-joint made of G-10 would be interesting.
