Gulyassy signs up Earl as new player Rep

Great News!!

I think this looks like a win-win situation. I's sure Mike will be sensitive to Earl's needs as a player, much more so than Cuetec. Earl has one of the best strokes on the planet, and I love to watch him play.

I'll be anxious to see Earl in action again.

Hey Gary,

Are you talking to me or Mike?

I figured you and Gulyassy were there running out. I have taken a little break from the game. I may play the Viking events coming up, but I may not play again until the Smokey Mountain. Hopefully Gulyassy can get a cue in my hand that I can make a ball with.

What was the turnout like this weekend? Who were the top finishers?

Mike

LOL! YOU! I thought you'd be around, don't get to see ya that often. I'm still going to school and was lucky to have gas money to get down Sat. and Sun. afternoons. I had to leave right after the matches started on Sat. Physical problem, can't stand too long some days, and there weren't many seats available. Was there Sunday from 12 noon 'til about 5:30. 60 players, IIRC, and quite a bunch of spectators. I thought Gulyassy would be playing, surprised he wasn't. Jimmy Reeves was doing cue repair, Rich and a guy named George were selling a few cues. Rich has a brand-spanking-new-just-out-of-the-box Tascarella. Saw some good matches Sunday, Scott Robon over Nick Varner, 9-8. Shannon over Larry Nevel 9-2. Still don't have info on the top finishers.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ain't no news like good news> Congrats Earl an Mike on the pardnership!

Hmmmmm....I hate to say I told ya so, but......I did make the suggestion that Mike and Earl would work together. I thinks its great. Mike makes great cues and with Earls abilities....who knows.

Pearl inlays perhaps?

Pearl inlays perhaps? It came to mind, and I figured I'd share the idea.

As in, the "Earl the Pearl" series? But not little chips of pearl,
of course. (Said in respect.)

Mike,

Wishing you the best in your new venture with Earl! He's a great player and your sticks are top notch. Looking forward to seeing some great things from the new team!

Regards,

Steve Feld

P.S. I just bought one of your new J/B cues and it's a winner, as always...

What a great idea - I hope Gulyassey picks up on that!

Excellent partnership IMO! whatever you do...PLEASE don't make the cue white!:) I think Earl has so much more personality than those friggin white things he was playing with.

Maybe mother of pearl inlays in the series?....they could be the "Mother f'in Earl the Pearl series"....I'll take one!

Gerry

Wishing both Earl and Gulyassy everything good in their new partnership.

How about this for the "Earl" Series of cues:

The E1 Customs will be limited to 15 cues, Each with "PEARL" inlays featured prominently.

The E2 Customs will be limited to 10 cues. Each of these will feature "Amboyna BURL" as the prominent wood.

The E3 Customs will be limited to 5 cues. Each will have real "SQUIRREL" inlays, making them extremely rare and collectable.

The E4 Custom will be the most rare and coveted cue of all times, limited to only one cue. It will feature inlays of "HURL" or regurgitated food that Earl himself has eaten. This will most surely be the rarest of all the rare cues in the world.

Mike,
Call me and we can discuss a design and consulting fee.

I'll take 1 squirrel and 2 hurl's

I love Earl, he livens up the game....it is almost like the Howard Stern effect, you just want to see what happens next.....but I love to watch him on tv, not had a chance to see him play live yet but hoping he will make a tourney down here soon.......because i wanted to ask him if he played in my pool room when he was pre-teen or teen....my room used to be a bowling alley and word is Earl lived down the street for about a year or two when he was a kid.....always wanted to know but never had the chance to ask........if anyone does have the chance to ask, see if Earl played @ Macon Bowl in Macon, Ga when he was a kid.

Congratulations to you both! Definitely a win-win situation. The Pearl's back!! :p

Earl just left my shop minuets ago and said he loves his new Gulyassy playing cue and his new Gulyassy break jump. We have just agreed to work with each other creating a new Earl Strickland Line of cues and he is also using the new Gulyassy break jump cue. He said he understands now how his opponents have been breaking and playing well enough to beat him in the past. Earl told me he loves his new equipment. As far as the tournament Saturday he told me that he left because of the people on the next table trying to jump a close jump shot that made him leave. They were making a lot of unnecessary racket while he was breaking and running out the first two racks. These were people that knew better and anyone trying to play a match would have told them to stop.

Good luck to you Mike. You may need it. Just joking.

If you can help Earl return to his former brilliance, that would be just short of amazing.

Im happy Earl is now playing with a good cue and out from under Cuetec. Hopefully his game will pick up and his attitude with it.

I was actually amazed at how well Earl 'did' play with a Cuetec, if his game takes a leap, one would think the Duchess of Doom may be in for a change.

I think thats great, Id like to hear more about the new line of cues, and could someone please describe how a gulyassy Looks, feels, and play's?

Thanks, SPINDOKTOR

You can check out a complete line of Mike's cues at www.babysproshop.com

Mike, I really need to teach you a thing or two about marketing. Not a mention about your website or current cue line?

I am sure that many will have a comment about this but a Gulyassy plays like a Southwest. I have had mine since 2000 and haven't even looked into buying another cue since. I told Mike at the time that I was thinking about buying a Southwest & he told me he could be me a cue for MUCH less & it would hit the same. He didn't have any cues with him when he made this statement so I wasn't able to hit a ball with his cue before I bought it. He gave me a guarantee that if after I received it, if I didn't like it, I could send it back for a full refund. Four months later, I received my cue & he will never get it back. Well, unless he does some inlay work that he promised me.

I am not a cue expert or historian & don't pay too much attention, but I think Mike told me once that Bill Schick (sp?) taught him a thing or two about building cues. I hope I got that right & Mike can verify his cuemaking history.

Yes, John Barton is correct. Mike Gulyassy can play and has a ton of heart. One of my memories is of Mike giving Troy Frank the 8 ball & bar b quing him.

Great move Mike. Hope it works out for both you and Earl.

Re-think about coming to Vegas in May. Sitting in your booth, hanging out and making fun of people as they go by is always a good time killer in between matches.

This is great news Mike and i'm glad to hear Earl will be playing with better equipment than he's used the last few years. This is a good deal for both of you.

I think you need to get a freaking life canwin.

With that out of the way, best of luck to you with Earl. I'd actually like to know how he is as a person, when not playing a tourney and under the pressure. None can deny, the guy has natural talent.

Good Luck to you sir! :)
