He actually figured out a way to make it work
Now I need a metal lathe and a bunch of metal cues to work on.

And the customer paid for it? I do believe that if he has hung his shingle out for business that it might just be his last tip job, in that town anyway.
I'd be willing to bet that a blind person could learn how to do a better job with about a half hours practice.

I guess that is one way to try out a smaller tip on your cue.Then when it is no good, just claim someone did a bad job for $15.
Looking at the ferrule, ( not the step down hack bit , ground on a bench grinder) looks a little on the suspect side anyway, so a new ferrule was due.
Hacks are great for business. We need more of them out there.

i have a new local "repair guy" to thank for that
I had a tip/ferrule come to me like that once and to boot the repair man, whoever it was, had put a ferrule for a screw-on tip on his cue, filled the screw hole with epoxy and faced it, with a file I think and then installed a tip. It also had a Morse taper #2 on it, lovely.

I have a customer who thought he could change his own tips out using what appears to be the same method as this guy! After he TRIED to change out his 3rd tip and run out of shafts to play with, he asked me if i could fix them for him. I Replaced 3 ferrules and tips. I wish there were more people out there like him! It's guaranteed work for us!
