Has it come to blows between Earl and a very steamed opponent or a spectator

I’ve often wondered about this. Maybe some other AZBers might be similarly curious -- if you happen to have any first or second-hand knowledge about it.

I’ve been watching him on TV and in-person at many tournaments for about 20 years. He does so successfully manage to get waaay under people’s skin in the U.S. and abroad that it would seem improbable that Earl hasn’t driven some player or spectator to the point of getting physical on him a time or two over the years -- inside or outside a playing venue.

There’s a Mosconi Cup moment at the conclusion of one of the Euro team vs U.S team matches where Earl was heatedly ranting at one of the smaller Euro guys and Tony Drago animatedly jumps in . . . and you didn’t have to be a lip reader to see he’s letting Earl know he’ll give him all he wants (physically) anytime he’s ready.

Guess this thread would amount to a different kind of "action report."

I wish it would!

I wish somebody would cause him to get his mouth wired shut! I was playing a one-pocket match next to one of the 10 footers in Tunica. Earl was on the 10 footer next to us trying to convince anyone who would listen that he was the best 10 foot player in the world. Of course, he had to throw in a truckload of negative comments about how the tournament was being run, distractions which were obviously intended to sabatage his game, and the sand in his crack from sleeping in his car! If you ask me, HE was the biggest distraction there! I would have LOVED to shove the butt end of my cue down his throat! What a disgrace! He shouldn't even be allowed to spectate, much less participate!
Yes, Earl, it's a conspiracy! Everyone hates you! Now, just do the world a favor and fade away with what's left of your dignity!

he's my favorite player but always wondered how he's managed to
avoid serious bodily harm or even death after all these years.

What exactly is left?

You know your really in the bottom of people's books when they feel
like hitting you would do them more of a injustice than it would Earl.
I think Earl is convinced that people will expect a side-show,and thats
what he provides.
Without the side-show,would be a disappointment to many.It would be
like seeing a horror movie without the blood and guts.

There was an incident in Greensboro, NC where Scott Lewis had to be pulled off of Earl to keep him from choking Earl out. It happened at a US Open qualifier at Gate City Billiards (either '09 or '10). Scott and Earl got paired up and Earl was wanting some sort of "gentleman's agreement" to rack the 2 ball in the back of the rack (it was rack your own). Scott said something to the effect of "Do whatever you want, Earl". Earl starts going off, saying that's why he doesn't do anything nice for pro players, and just keeps going on. One thing lead to another & then Earl is just daring Scott to choke him. Well, Scott got up and started choking him. Took 3 guys to get him off. IMHO, Earl totally deserved it.

He was just practicing, if you can call it that. He was doing more talking than anything while knocking balls around. I did say something to the effect of "I wish someone would put a sock in his f---ing mouth!" I know he heard me and he left soon after, probably just a coincidence...

lol, he's the guy I love to hate to watch:wink:

annoying and disturbing with the attitude of Phil Helmuth (if you're into poker). One of the best strokes in the business, though.

Well, he might have a point about the managing of the event if practice was allowed on an adjacent table during a tournament match. This was one of the Kamui events? Maybe they didn't have a practice table, but still.

Does Earl really sleep in his car? I had heard a story a few years back that he was sleeping in his car outside of Gulyassy's house while he was making his cue.:boring2:

All I know is that I would Love to see SOMEONE step up to the plate, and pound his little Monkey C.nt ass into the pavement. It's WAY long over due.

Why not you?

Which is worse, the guy who drives people crazy or the guy who is only brave enough to wish someone else beats him up?

I think you people who wish bodily harm on the Man are the ones in the wrong.

IMO, you are doing the equivalent of slamming on the brakes to cause a collision with a tailgater. Who is really more wrong?

Do you really suffer any direct harm from his meltdowns, or is the show and the story worth it?

I LOVE how every one acts like Earl is bad for pool, but you put is name in the title of any thread and BOOM, wild fire insues. every successful sport has to have an Earl type of person. Get over it if you want him to fade away. The more you talk about it, good or bad, the more he will continue to be around.

The funny thing is, for all the smack talk, there is almost no one on this site the will put dough on the lights, on ANY table against Earl.

He's good for pool, bad for opponents, and endless entertainment for me!!!

just my $.02,

Justin

True true BB.

Earl is his own worst enemy in many cases and especially in his loss to Landon last week.

Before the match even started and he was saying he was the best corner pocket shooter that had ever breathed:boring2:......

.......he was so dammed upset before the match even started vs. Landon, accusing the tournament director of getting it started late just to shark him! <<<< I had to laugh at that one, borderline vane imo. Truth is he sharked himself and stacked the odds against him with his ongoing negative thoughts, along with being a pest to other players.

IMO he was looking for any excuse he could find to call foul play before he got it handed to him by Landon, this way, loosing was not his fault.... LOL!!

Somehow Efren has managed the same spectator drawing power without the B.S. - only modesty, good sportsmanship and great pool.

Hmm...

Who's better for Pool?
