I may have misspoken in the "pull up when it's tied" thread where I said I thought the majority of az'ers either have, do, or would like to hustle someday.

For the purpose of this poll we will define "hustle" as hiding your true speed, hiding who you really are by disguise or other means, or saying or doing anything else that is not true in an attempt to give yourself any kind of an edge.

It will be a straightforward 2 option poll.

Thanks in advance for your vote and feel free to add your thoughts and comments in the thread.

I was taught to do it many years ago. I did it for a short time. I decided it was not for me and I have not and will never do it again.

Nope, I like the satisfaction of beating my opponents because we both know that I am better than them, not because I trapped them.

Well, I guess at the outset, I gotta say I wish I was good enough to hustle. :embarrassed2:

So my answer would be no.

Just to be clear guys and gals, if you *ever* did hustle, even if it was just for a minute, or if you once did but you have changed and no longer do, you still should vote Yes.

Accuracy and honesty please.

Don't let the police officer sitting in the corner sway your voting.

Like JAM said, I'd like to be good enough to hustle :p

But even if I were good enough, I don't think I would.

I have enough drama in my life already. I don't need to add more.

This thread ought to do well, if it doesn't turn into a gambling versus non-gambling pissing match.

I hope so too since gambling vs not gambling ain't what I'm looking for.

only if we ever did "hustle", currently do "hustle" or would ever like to "hustle".

cast those votes!

There is a difference between gambling and hustling.

There is a difference between gambling and hustling.

Gambling is playing someone you might not have the nuts with. Hustling you always have the nuts...unless YOU get hustled by a better hustler. Johnnyt

Back about five years ago I hustled a guy that came to our pool room. He would always gamble on the table. Always looking for a money game. He loved poker more than pool though.

I have a twin brother and he always wanted to play him and he would never play me. We look just alike. Only difference is I wear glasses and he doesn't. The guy pulled up in the parking lot and I figured he wad looking for a money game so I took off my glasses and told the pool room owner to back me up on the story I was gonna tell him. The guy came in and was ready to gamble. He had just won some money on the poker table and wanted more. I asked if he wanted to play and he said I was too good. I told him I was my brother and the match would he even. Everyone in the room backed me up on this. We played 20 a set and I wound up taking about 200 off of him. I don't know if he ever figured out it wasn't my brother he was playing.

We all thought it was funny at the time. He never played either one of us again.

I disagree with this in one respect....

Back in the day around my area, ring games were where the money was. I had a friend/competitor (our fan clubs would argue who was better) where we were often in the same room for tourneys.

Pre-tourney, I would always get in a ring game where the best players were playing. He would get in a ring game where lesser players were playing.

So I was gambling, but he would have the nuts. He wasn't hustling, but he definitely had the best of it. But my friends would talk about my game and heart. And I came out ok on the $$ side of it as well. Didn't always win, but I certainly got more respect for stepping up.

So I voted no.

Well, according to Minnesota Fats:

"Ain't Nixon hustling? Ain't he out shaking hands, 24 hours a day, trying to be the President? Hey, ain't everybody hustling? Yeah, everybody's scuffling. You see, there's two different -- there's a scuffler and a hustler. A hustler is one that's always in action and gets it once in a while, see, and a good hustler gets it more often. Then there's a scuffler. He never gets it. Understand? All he ever does is waste his time, gets in everybody's way. You understand? He goes through life, and he's a failure."

Way to kill your brothers action dude.
