Have you ever forgot your cue?

While reading all the JL scandal stuff, the question arose about her forgetting her cue. Let me assure you, it can happen. I'm not sure anyone in the world loves playing pool more than me, and I've done it.
Heading out the door, in a bit of a rush for a weekend team event in Ohio. I get about 30 minutes down the road, and have to turn around and drive back home.
I've walked out after pool league twice, while talking with a friend, got in my truck and realized my case was still in the bar, {luckily, I still had friends sitting there}...
Worst time was a couple of years ago, I went to the pool room and was practicing for the State BCA. Some friends were playing on the table next to me, and I went to bathroom, leaving my cue laying against the rail on the table. I had layed my case on the table too. When I got back, I was talking with m y friends as they were packing their cues away. As they started to the door, I picked up my case and walked with them. Left my cue and never missed it til I showed up for the tourney the next day.
Someone took it, and it was gone for 2 weeks or so. I felt like I had left a member of my family behind to be kidnapped. {maybe I should put this in the most embarrassing thread as well}.....

Trust me, anyone can forget their cue.
 
At DCC two years ago, I took my empty case up to the room. My cue was still sitting in the corner of the AZ room where I left it. DUH!!!

Scott Lee rescued it for me. He got a free meal as a reward. :smile:

Right away, I have 2 other hardcore pool players who have done it. Actually, If I take EIEIO's post from the other thread, {I know her and think she won't mind} that makes 3. At the time she did it, she was on the road a lot, playing for a living too. Happens more than people think.
 
While living in Wilmington NC, I packed my bags for a weekend golf tournament in Pinehurst - 2.5 hours away. As I was entering Pinehurst I got this uneasy feeling. I pulled over and checked my trunk. Twas void of the clubs. I left 'em sitting at the door.

Borrowed some clubs, bought a sand wedge and putter. Missed the cut by one.

Yeah, it happens!
 
A friend in San Diego drove off with two turkey sandwiches from Society Billiards and left 1200 bucks in cues there. Stolen of course....

The worst thing is, in that case and two others at another poolhall, when we asked the owner if there was a chance the thief was caught on video they said they just video the employees (bar area) to make sure they're not stealing.

bit off track but i got a good one. i was playing in a tourney. i just put a new moori on the night before. i was struggling bad. lost my first match just squeeked by next match. so on the hill after sruggling through another match i missed a ball. i got so mad i bit the brand new moori off my cue and spit it on the floor. well luckly the guy missed and i grabbed my breaker and ran out. i always kept a le pro in my bag so between matches i ran across the street to the cvs got some glue and a razorblade and put a le pro on my cue in like 5 mins.

needless to say i won the tourney. no lie. story made for hollywood

nobody better steal my sory either

You'll love the three stories I have in Pool Wars about recovering stolen cues. Yes, it can be done!
 
A guy left a Schick laying on the table last week, and didn't realize until the next day.

Luckily someone picked it up for him, made him sweat little bit, but eventually gave it to him.
 
Before I got a table, I used to have to drive a little over an hour to get to a 9 footer. Forgot the cues once, very disappointing. I learned on pool days to put car keys in cue case, worked well. I've never forgotten them at the pool hall.
 
I've left cues at the bars many times because I forgot it, and sometimes I was in too much of a hurry to leave before I got killed. Can't say I ever left my cue at home ,though there are many times that I have wished that I had brought it. You never know where a nice fat fish will turn up. Johnnyt
 
Never forgot my cue BUT I have called to make sure my locker was locked. I have however forgot my school bag with my laptop, Ipod, and hundreds in awesome textbooks at the pool hall

Right after Sunday league practice, a bunch of us go out to lunch, then return back for afternoon practice. After lunch, came back to discovered that I forgot to put my cue away, it was still resting on the table by the lockers.
 
My best friend forgets his cue in our local pool hall. The owner of the hall is real shady to say the least.

Anyhow we go back a few days later and ask him if he's found it. With a straight face he says "no, sorry guys, never seen it."

We look around the pool hall but no luck. My bud is not impressed about losing his cue.

We are standing by the front counter wondering what to do and my friend looks in the display case to see whats for sale. Well sure as shit doesn't he see his own cue now on sale....lol

My bud got his cue back and the owner of the pool hall went bust a few years later.

Another story about this owner(kinda like karma).

Another friend of mine is in the same place not long after the above story. Anyway's the owner tries to kick him out for some bullshit reason. My bud says he's leaving and to just give him a sec. The owner's starts getting all tuff and says "no your leaving now, right now"

Well, long story short, my bud went to jail and the owner had his nose splattered right accross his face.
 
I have more than one cue. Was getting ready to play in a league that night. Packed up my cues and left. Got to the bar and found out that I had the wrong shafts. It would not have made a difference but they have different joints. It was only a few miles away so I had time to drive back home and get the right ones.
 
It's happened to me a couple of times... I've left a breaker at the pool hall during league and had it returned to me by a friend (it's a pretty friendly in-house league... I don't believe there's a soul there who would keep it)... and also forgot it while practicing with a different friend one time... and he returned it to me.

Pretty much have solved that as I haven't hit balls on any other table than my own for the past 8 or so months since I bought it. Saves on my bar tab and gas for my p/u... and I can also smoke cigars at my place as well. ;)

I went to the pool hall and made my usual blind reach behind the seat to grab my cue case and cues. Nothing! Move the seat and get a good look, thinking the 3x7 case might have slide down out of reach or maybe into a crack or corner with the loose change and a stray m&m or two. Nope, the moron left the cue case sitting by his front door, at least inside his front door!

When traveling to big shooting events I forgot critical items so many times I needed a checklist. It's embarrassing to think I need a list for pool tournaments now.

I have found that making lists is much more efficient anyway. I used to forget this item and that item now I just forget the list and I am all done in one shot.

Okay Sam, add a couple of more.

Two years ago I played in the VNEA state tournament for the first time, drove 30 minutes to the Adams Mark, got out of the car, and found I had left my cue at home. Duhhhh!!!! Luckily (?) had a LONG, LONG wait before my match, and was able to go home and get it.

A couple of years ago, JL came to Betmore's Basement for a straight pool match (again a long drive) and found she did not bring her cue. She spent the next several hours complaining at every opportunity about the crappy loaner stick she had to use. I went out the next day and bought a nice McDermott that visitors can use if they arrive without weaponry.
