Help,need a new tip

I'm about ready for a new tip.I have been using the moorie "slow" for years,(love that tip) but I'm hearing alot say that you can't get the good ones anymore.

So can someone direct me to a tip that plays like a moorie slow? There's so many new tips out nowadays that I just don't know what to try next. Thanks for the help. John B.

check the action room if you have not yet.
some guy prolly dont even know you barking

Kamui black SS. It'll start out grabbing the ball much more than a Moori but then calms down with use.

I will buy you one of PoolDawg8's Dawg Duds, sir. I have tried a lotta tips and found none better.

Let me know if you would like to arrange to have him send you one. It would be my pleasure.

In that I am officially the DawgDud production and national marketing manager, I can assure you
that Jeff's 3-tip minimum order will be strictly enforced.
Technically all pricing inquiries should go through me, but my boss had to go and post an exclusive AZ price
for members logged-in at the time of purchase.

Thanks alot!

What's the diff in the colors of the kumui.I'm leaning to the ss.Should I go with the softest kumui they have? I will have it cut down cause I never have cared for a real tall tip.I can deal with a little mushrooming too. Thanks again good pool people:wink: John B.

+1 for the PoolDawg8 milk dud. I love it! I also do believe that the Ultraskins
are just as good as the Kamui's. John, give that Ultraskin soft a try if you are
leaning towards the Kamui s.s. Fraction of the cost, but IMO just as good.

The black ones are supposed to be protected against humidity and have some special oil in them I believe. I'm sure someone else can explain it better.

I know both shane and Dennis hatch use kamui Browns. But they use hards so not quite what your looking for.

Onyx tip

I have a Kamui S on one of my shafts. It plays nicely, but it's quite a hard tip and has a "clicky" sound. I haven't tried a Kamui SS. That might be better.

The Sniper is a great soft tip. It plays like a soft tip, but feels firmer (after a week or so of break-in).

The Onyx tip, also from Tiger, is basically a Sniper tip that uses cured leather. This tip feels much firmer than a Sniper, but grabs the cueball and feels and sounds fantastic (firm, solid and resonant)--much like a good Triangle. The Onyx quickly became my favorite tip. It does everything well and seems to wear like steel.

Thanks, that's some good info.I don't like the clicky sound either. John B.

Im a Moori guy...I've tried the duds, the kamui's and the rest...you can't beat a Moori. Dud has a nice hit but looks like sh!t, kamui has nice hit but bites into the cueball kind of unpredictably(for me) and ......etc.
Stick with Moori...for me it's Moori med.

I might,thanks alot.John B.

John,
I've been told that you would probably like the Kamui Brown or Black "SUPER SOFT".

+1 for the Kamui Black Super Soft, it's what your pal Shannon uses too.

I get mine installed by Dave Bollman and tell him to take a layer or two off. I can't stand an over-tall tip.

I bang balls around (harder than usual) with it for a couple days then take it back to him so he can trim the mushroom and shape it one more time.

After that I'm usually good to go for a long while.

A solid vote from me for Tiger Onyx. I went thru a couple of tips trying to find something I liked and this one really suits me well. Again, tips are oh so.....personal.....no one can really say, "You're gonna love this!".....and truly know for sure.

I'd classify the Onyx as a medium-ish tip, as far as firmness. It has a slight "plink" to it, but that could also be from the cue itself. It wears very well, IMO. It ever-so-slightly mushroomed after about a month, as it settled, but after one trim up......it looks and feels great now, with NO further mushrooming.

I put on a nice layer of Kamui chalk about once a week, before and after using the dreaded Tip Pick to "ingrain" it in there. After that, I just use basic Master's chalk when I play, to keep my pre-shot routine intact. I'll probably get a year and a half out of this tip and I shoot about 3-4 times a week.

FWIW, I tried an Emerald, Kamui Medium and Tiger Sniper before I settled on the Tiger Onyx.

Emerald: didn't like it at all.
Kamui Medium: just didn't feel how I like for a tip to feel.
Tiger Sniper: liked it fairly well.

I tried the Onyx out when I went to a new Gary Johnson custom cue and they match up perfectly.....for me.

Not sure who you're kidding with all of this JB, you could shoot with a broken, Kentucky broom handle and still sweep up the joint afterwards.

:grin-square:

I have had a lot of complaints from the Kamui Mediums. They het hard and miscue a lot. Everyone seems to like the S and the SS when they switch. Myself, I love Pooldawgs Milk Duds and if they're to ugly for you to shot pool with, have the installer use a black Sharpie on them before he burnishes it, looks beautiful. They play like a Sniper to me at a fraction of the cost.

I don't know how a Mori Slow plays but I prefer a pressed Triangle over a Mori Medium any day. That's just me though.

dumb question maybe

I'm a kamui virgin lol
If I order a kamui black ss tip will masters chalk work just fine, or will I have to buy the expensive kamui chalk?

Where is the cheapest place to buy a kamui black tip from delivered to my door?
