Help Needed for Fellow AZer to Get to Her First Pro Event

I want thank everyone again for your awesome help! I am still overwhelmed with emotion and so is Ashley!

We raised $1,476!! We only needed $1,200 and I tried to give money back, but many knew we were already over the amount and they sent in money anyway and do no not want the refund. You guys and gals are the reason I call AZB family! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

FYI - Ashley and I should be talking on the stream this weekend for the OB Cues Tour in Tulsa if you want to come say hi to us: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ob-cues-ladies-tour

Thank you again!!

I have two....so that should get her started! :):)

Quick hint for her regarding patches. On many of them, the adhesive is so strong that it can ruin shirts/blouses if you peel the entire label and put the patch on...especially if you leave it on for a longish period of time.

Instead...many of us just peel the edges of the backing (for example on a rectangular patch...we will peel the ends off each side...leaving the backing in the middle) and then stick the patch on. This makes it easier to remove the patch from blouse...and then later (if the adhesive isn't sticky enough for a second use)...you can then peel the middle and have fresh adhesive for a second use (or third use, or whatever).

This little tip can help save shirts...AND make patches recyclable :D

Perfect. Now she has almost $300 to put towards the following event. :)

Melinda [aka Trigger] Did the right thing, after she raised the $1200 needed,by asking or giving refund back. The extra money or unused money after the event. Could be use for OB Cue Tour Emgerency Fund, pass it forward, or let Trigger and Ashley decide. The money I gave have no attachment other than use for Ashley's Dream.

Agreed. I'm confident that Ashley and Melinda will do the right thing whatever that turns out to be.

There are always incidentals that need to be covered.

The money will be needed, used and appreciated.

that is my thought

I think most of the people that sent a little extra, if not all of them, knew the goal had been met. A couple hundred dollars means a little more comfortable living instead of scraping by. If she spends it, if she brings a little home for other pool activities, fine either way I think.

I haven't been on the forum lately, for many different reasons which have consumed my time. But, I just stopped by and this is the first thing I see. It simply tells me that even though some of the players change over the years, the forum is basically the same... Some of the best and most supportive folks I ever knew!

I apologize for my lateness, but I wish you well, Ashley. I'm really glad to see you got the amount you needed for this event. Good luck!

Trig, as usual I'm late to the party. I tried to rep you for the effort but was barred, said I need to spread it around. Funny thing is I can't recall my last greenies to you.

Did Ashley complete the entry?

In regard to the US Open in golf, yes you have to qualify if you are not exempt, but I think that's true with any major sports championship in that the field has to be limited somehow. In golf there would otherwise be so many entries they would never get the tournament completed.

But the fact is that for the US Open golf tournament, you have to qualify to qualify. Anyone with an index > 1.4 need not apply.

You are right.

As I'm sitting in here about to start this crazy journey I'm about to go on, I just wanted to say a few words to the forum as a whole. This whole experience has been amazing already and should continue to be even more eye-opening as everything develops and I get the gyst of how everything goes down...

So sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, you guys have touched me and many others with the overwhelming responses, it's amazing how a community can come together in such short notice and make the impossible possible.

After the tournament, while I know I don't have to, I will be responding back to everyone as it's the least I could do to show my appreciation. Once again, thank you, your generosity is astounding.

Hopefully, I'll be able to give some updates daily....not sure what's allowed and what's not but I'm going to try:)

This is something that will never be forgotten for me and I hope I have the opportunity to try to "pay it forward" as the saying goes...:)

Love you all immensely xoxo

You could send a twitter update after each match or something like that. :)

GOOD LUCK!!

I don't have a twitter, haven't quite caught on to that one yet....

BUT

I am going to video throughout the day when I am allowed to so if you want to send me a request on fb, you'll get to see me be goofy through the tournament!

GAH! No blog, no website, no twitter... jeesh, c'mon lady! LOL How are your fans supposed to keep up with your pool stuff - without being given too much info (ie: facebook).

have to find the middle road

Ashley,

You have to find a middle road and everyone's "middle" is different but if you try to do too many other things it can take away from your focus on winning. On the other hand, you do need to relax and enjoy yourself to play your best. Just a warning not to commit to too many things while you are at the event. Have a good time, play some good pool, whatever else happens happens.

Have fun and good luck!
