Back in late 1900 and 88 I was injured on a project I was running. Wife and three children, it made sense to draw workmans comp with no idea how long I would be off work due to my own back.
A few months after starting workman's comp I get a catalog in the mail from CCS. There was a credit card offer too which my wife thought might be a good idea to provide extra cushion for emergencies since I dealt in cash or bank loans only. The back of the catalog had a densely written block of text at least three or four inches tall, full page width. No paragraphs at all or spacing that could be avoided, poor contrast between the text and background, and tiny print. I had something like 20-10 vision and still had to bring the catalog out into bright sunlight to read the text.
Aside from ridiculous rates and terms, the "credit card" was only good for items in the catalog. I pointed out to my wife that an item he was selling for forty dollars sold for six all the time at a local flea market and that was typical of the stuff in the catalog. I remembered this incident because my wife was deeply embarrassed for suggesting we get involved plus I collected some of the most outrageous mail I received back in those days.
eric claimed he only marketed to the lowest of the low, people who had no credit and deserved none. I don't know what my signature was worth at the time but when I wanted $25,000 back then it was mine on my signature at the bank in less than twenty-four hours. My credit was perfect and had always been perfect. CCS almost certainly had gotten a listing of people on workman's comp and marketed to them assuming quite accurately that some would be desperate. They marketed to the old, the ignorant, and the desperate, and offered them terms similar to those offered by loan sharks while claiming that dealing with CCS would rebuild their credit.
eric is genuinely psychotic, I still have the documentation. Perhaps the steroids, perhaps the crack he bragged about taking on this forum over and over, perhaps he was just born that way. Doesn't matter, he is far from stable. he can play the nice guy as long as things go his way but like all genuine psychopaths he can turn on anyone in an instant.
One of the things that has turned me away from pool is that as a general statement the people in pool worship money and those that have it regardless of how they got it. I'm not pointing fingers and as I said that is only a general statement, as this thread indicates there are quite a few exceptions and at least in the case of eric more waking up all the time.

Well, isn't that exactly what Eric and his company did. Pick the most vulnerable and kick them further, when all most were doing is trying to keep their heads above water.
Its easy to get a bad credit rating, specially with credit cards and all it takes is for someone to lose their job and be struggling for a month or 2.
I remember reading one story, (Rip Off Report), a particular sad one, and yes, it involved a returning Vet to his wife and family. The average Military person doesn't make a ton. These people were just looking for a leg up.
What company doesn't try and make as much money as they can. Only thing is, big difference between offering merchandise or a service or just out right theft.
Make all the excuses you want for Eric, there was absolutely no justification in what Consumer Credit was doing for the years that they were in business.
People were led to believe that by using Consumers Credit cards, they were rebuilding their credit rating. False, they had zero ability to do that for a person.
People were led to believe that they were making, and would receive either of the 2 credit cards mentioned. Another out right lie.
Cool, for those of you that have never ridden in a Lambo, keep on the good side of Eric, he may take you for a ride some day. Pun Intended.
Me, if I ever make it to Vegas again, I'll just rent a 1/2 ton or a Harley to go touring.

Bad comparison, IMO. How much money you make is not directly tied to whether you provided a fair deal to the consumer. If someone makes a ton and at the same time is doing legitimate business, more power to them.
Eric has always come across as a very friendly guy and appears to be a nice guy, however it seems his business was a bit on the shady side, to put it nicely, JMO. He also was very proud of how good he was in the 'boilerroom' businesses that he made his first big money on. Calling people on the phone (can't remember if it was cold calls) and getting them to buy something that was usually a con in some way. I'm pretty sure he admitted as much....yeah, he did put hiz biz on da street. One could say he is not that different than Kevin Trudeau in his business tactics.

Why all the distaste for Eric? He seems like a likable enough fellow and I don't think I recall him saying bad things about anyone. I've e-mailed and corresponded with him on several occasions and he's pleasant enough. I know he usually mentions his money and/or possessions and that can be irritating, mostly because I have neither.
P.S. He does not play good pool.

That's absurd. Really. Most businesses provide a product or service in return for your money. Most businesses that don't make money are soon out of business. Microsoft provides a quality product but no one is forcing you or anyone else to purchase it. I suppose you want to live in a Socialist Society where they regulate how much people like Bill Gates is able to earn? If you don't like his product, vote with your wallet and don't buy it, nobody has a gun to anybody's head forcing them to purchase Windows or Office.

I was eating dinner a few years back at the steakhouse @ the Riviera in Las Vegas with Chris Bartram and Derek Disco. In walks fatboy, he pulls up a chair as if he were invited.. ok, whatever. I don't know him but i'll give the guy a shot.
Two hours go by and it was hard to get a word in as Eric hasn't stopped talking about himself as well as trying to make a game with Bartram. Chris was quick to agree to the game Eric asked for, knowing full well that it would never happen anyway (it didn't). Non stop talking about himself, his money, his cues... it just didn't stop. The bill comes and Eric (the wealthiest human ever apparently) leaves cash for his share, almost to the penny without a tip. I took care of it without saying a word. LOL
Sorry Jaden, I've met Eric and I gotta say, I disagree with you on that point.
