Hohmann loses to Ko because of the Cyclop balls

Watch the video again Lou. There were many instances of the original Cyclop cue ball rolling off. The players all spotted it right away. In fact we tested it after a match and it was pretty obvious. There is a good reason why they changed cue balls. You're just out of the loop Lou. Do you mind if I call you Loopy Lou? Hey, you finally got a pool nickname!

Where are the many instances?

And names? Is that what you've got? Too much for you to try facts, logic and reasoned argument?

Seems like Jay rips off players. Is that good enough?

Cyclop balls suck, the cue balls always have a bunch of little check marks in the as well and make that terrible
Noise when striking another ball. Tournaments really need to stop using them just because they're a sponsorsed. Anyone who plays in that tournament sure as shit isn't gonna go buy a set or their balls afterwards,

You nailed it!

I did!
I have logo cue ball and have never seen an issue. I play the western BCA and Nationals in Vegas the last two years. Have yet to see a defective cue ball.

Indeed!

Matter of fact I don't even know why tournaments moved away from using the Aramith Pro balls.

Can anyone tell me what was wrong with them?
And if nothing is wrong with them why did some tournaments start using the Cyclop balls in the first place?
Now more and more tournaments are going back to Aramith.
I mentioned the Chinese 8-ball but there are many others.

As I said before; are we, pool players, really that caught up in just always getting whatever is the latest on the market.....no matter what?

Is it that hard to understand the part sponsors play in making tournaments?

I would hazard a wild guess that Cyclop sponsorship was more lucrative than Aramith sponsorship.

It seems there were some imperfect cue balls which Cyclop offered to replace. It also seems that they learned from those balls and remedied the problem. It also seems that they continue to sponsor major pool events.:scratchhead:

Maybe they got tired of only having one supplier. Maybe they thought they could offer a better product. Maybe Cyclop is adding money to events.

whadda I know

Sounds like there was NOTHING wrong with the Aramith Pros then.

Money................

Back in '02-'03 they had a couple of 8ball tournaments at SouthPadreIsland, Tx. One of the sponsors was the table maker. It was some outfit in Texas that made home/furniture-style tables. BIGGEST pos's in the history of pool. Barely level, crummy rails and they'd move if barely bumped them. Did they use them? Yep. Did the players *****? What do you think. Bottom line was? You got it,$$$$$. Its obvious that Cyclops is putting money into the game and i'm sure whatever problems that existed FOUR years ago have been fixed.

I would guess it is because Diamond struck a deal with Cyclops for Cyclops to be Diamonds preferred ball supplier. You buy a Diamond table it comes with balls, those balls are going to be Cyclops. You know, kinda like how Goodyear supplies GM or Michelin supplies Ford. It is usually refereed to as business economics, for one reason or another many, many companies do business like this. Call Diamond and tell them you like Aramith better, maybe they will change back just to appease you, you never know.

Please share with us less informed ordinary folks on here what makes you sure.
Other than just some internet rumors or AZB statements from people who have bought them and want to feel good about their purchase.

I mean has Diamond made such a statement?
Did Cyclop or Diamond ever even acknowledge there was a problem when it was obvious to everyone else?

Except aramith thought the werr the only player in the game...
Surprise.

I guess that makes something wrong with their balls.
I don't get the link and freely admit this is too deep for me.
Just have to take your word for it.

I found another shot that may help decide in the cue ball vs table question (#2 in the list here)

For comparison:

1) The original shot

2) A highly similar shot/angle that also misbehaves

3) Ko's bender

This was the tournament where the dancing cue ball became infamous.
Then they a had tournament in China where someone scratched doing the lag.
:D

The earth might be flat, but the cyclop cue ball then sure wasn't truly round or evenly weighted.
I hope nobody blames the cloth again.

Really?

Do you have a shred of evidence to support that? How would you like it if someone said, "Seems like Jay wanted to skim the entry fees off the top his tournament."

Lou Figueroa

Hey Lou, I'm not a detective, but I do know a little bit about pool. Several players and myself (I was the TD) tested the original Cyclop cue ball and it unquestionably was rolling off badly. We brought this to the attention of the Cyclop rep and he acknowledged that there was a problem. It's actually common knowledge that Cyclop had a problem with the original cue balls and they subsequently corrected it. Whether you believe me or not doesn't change anything. You just like to question anything I say because of something that you're obviously lacking in your own self worth.

I'm not a psychologist either but that's my unfettered opinion. Maybe you never got enough love at home when you were a child, maybe you never got the recognition you think you deserve, maybe you really believe you know more about pool then the rest of us. Good luck with your delusions. I hope they serve you well.
