How about a For Sale section for gold members only?

The regular FS section has so many threads that anything you start gets buried after a few hours .

I don't understand what you are bent up about. The for sale section is very hard to sell in. Threads go to the second page and beyond very VERY quickly. The guy is trying to find a solution, and feels like the money he donated to AZB might be able to benefit him.

I like this so long as you keep it visible somehow for us peasants.

I like to window shop!!!

If it is a donation, then that doesn't equate to special treatment. If you want to sell the right to be part of an exclusive FS section, then by all means do it. But then if I pay for that right to sell in the section then I should also have the right to speak my mind about a cue in said section. But that is something that should be happening anyway but too many people cried about somebody calling out the sellers overpriced items or whatever. Problem is that you have several sellers that list 10-20 things at a time seperately and bump them independently. The answer is consolidation or listing limits. Max number of threads at one time. Having 1-2 threads at one time is one thing. Or the other solution is have a private party section and a dealer section and keep them separate.

Seems to limit ones exposure quite a bit.

It would increase exposure.
Opening the section is not limited to gold members.
Only the selling part.
It is this way at a knife forum I frequent and it works well.

Sorry, you can't allow that as some people have special interests in shooting down some stuff for sale.
Same bumping rules apply.

One thread per seller should do the trick and if we have enough moderators no bumping before 48 hours..

Not a bad idea

That's not a bad idea, that promotes the worth of the site and gets them paid. I think its a great idea.

1 thread per user would help a great deal, although I like the Gold section idea.....probably would have the same thing going on though
Jason

I don't think splitting the for sale section in two is a good idea. I'd rather see gold members get more frequent bumping. I'm sure the software doesn't support it, but I'd like to see the following bumps rules.

Gold Members
Bump every 48 hours or anytime with a price drop of at least 10%

Silver Members
Bump every 10 days or after 48 hours with a price drop of at least 10%

1 thread per item

1 thread per user would help a great deal, although I like the Gold section idea.....probably would have the same thing going on though

I think that might kill the idea,,,its one thread per item right now

If you are too big of a NIT to pay the pennies it cost
to be a gold member,

then

you are too big of a NIT to sell on the site.

No one will miss the business of a guy with
9 I-traders in 12 years of being on AZB.

Joey...great idea.

The answer isn't splitting the section unless you are going to split it venders and private party sales. Venders are the biggest problem. I am not going to call any of them out by name as they are just playing the game by the rules that are set. But I know several on here that will bump many listings at 1 time and they move everything down half a page at one time. But it really doesn't matter as the rules of the game don't apply to some on here.

How about just limiting the number of for-sale threads a member can start in a given time period. A thread could have any number of items for sale.

The time period could be a calendar month, or a calendar year, or the past 12 months, or ...?

What would be a good number for the limit? 1 per month? 5 per year? 10 per year? ,,,?

Is something like this doable on the current software?

I currently don't sell items on here but I have shopped to get values from here. I understand the OP's concern. The idea of separate areas does not seem like it would work well. Nor does the idea of limiting the amount of items a seller can post or how often they can bump them.

Why not simply limit the postings and or bumps to one or two per hour? Also, there should be policies in place that require the removal of items that have been sold. Not simply making a comment saying sold but complete removal from the server.

Many have said the same thing. Once something is sold, you should be able to simply click a link that marks it sold and removes the thread. Easy, but for some reason, the powers that be seem to like people bumping threads that have been sold for years.LOL.

Wfs

We still have scammers getting into the wanted for sale section.

New members should have to post 50 posts before being allowed to post anything for sale.
That is pretty much the normal in allot of forums where the WFS section is free.

All sellers need to be required to post there return policy with the item they have posted for sale .

It would be nice on selling a cue is there was a link we could go into and fill in the info .
Brand , year, weight . balance point , condition what the cue is made of .
Type of shipping, ETA of getting the cue in the mail ., all the info needed .
For those who would like to use it.
I think sellers should get a rating on how fast they ship .

Like it or not all the sellers are in competition with every retail store and online billiard store in the world .

I would like to see a new cue section and a used cue section..

Personally I would like to post a video of the cue I wish to sale .
That way I can roll the cue and do a video and post it .
That is the best insurance the buyer and seller could have ...........
Pictures are good to but they don't show if the cue has a roll or not.

And its proof that the cue was straight before being shipped .
To me that was put a stop to some of the issues we have in here .

And it helps the buyer see all of the cue dents, scratches to. ( keeping everyone honest ) ...........
Doing a video doesn't need to be required but it for those who want to I think it would boost sales ..................

Really its a great marketing angle.
I guess because I said that they will never consider It :frown:

I think the best way to boost sales would make buying safer.
