someone told me not long ago there was over 7000 guys doing some sort of cue repair and building i would like some opions on your thoughts and i mean all types not just acomplished ones ....lee

The more Cue Makers the cheaper the material become, because more are made!!!!
it would be hard to get a real anwser here because people buy equipment try it then realize its not for them and sell there stuff..

Yeah, probably. Arizona has a lot more than NM. Heck, I live in a town of 40,000 in NM & we have five guys with lathes, not to mention the yahoos that do hand work. The bigger towns i'm sure have plenty. The more there are, the better I feel about my small accomplishments
You guys are so lucky over there.
In Germany where i live i could only name about 5 cuemakers and i would only buy cues from one of them and even his cues are not all my taste.
And the best thing thing is beeing a member of a forum where such great artists like you post.

Sound more like the correct number to me...my database alone has over 850 plus cue builders and repairers (30% plus of it is probably not active). Love to get my hand on the list of 7000 if it exist.

I think cue repair is in there as well. Just about every pool hall has a guy that can replace a tip or polish up a shaft. This may be the same type of stat that tracks 100 million billion pool players but counts anyone that shot a game of pool while drunk even once.
I'd say that 7000 includes people who do repairs only...I like to know the number of active cuemakers...
I have know idea how many cue makers/repair man there are total. I would be interested to know how many there are on AZ total.
Also what does it take to qualifiy as a repair man. I know a few people in my area that can put on tips but they dont have a lathe to spin the shaft. To me if you can fix the shaft tip, ferrule, Tennon, and Joint you are a repair man. If you cant do that you are simply a mantinace man for cues but theres nothing wrong with that. That was how I got my feet wet and what gave me the desire to make cues.

gotta love the yahoos. i love the guys that do a moori by hand and show it to me. then say " can you believe i did this by hand" lol yes i can
i want to say "i could have chewed it on with my teeth better!!!"
