How many years?

Been playing since Pap took me to The Cue back in the 50's....heh heh heh....oh yeah, that really didn't happen....but I still have been playing for 46 years....oye!

Brian Dwyer, ok kidding again...Bob Campbell

125 years . . .

Well maybe it just feels thataway. I played a little here and there as a kid, took it up seriously in 1970 and played a lot until the mid-eighties, as in equal to a full time job. Off and on since then more off than on. Trying for one last hurrah of playing respectable pool again now but I don't know if it is going to happen.

how long?

I haven't thought about it in a long time, but I'm 32 and I started shooting with my grandpa around 10 years old (playing nothing but banks). It sure has gone by fast! Starting to play that young paid off back when I was playing my buddys in high school but it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference anymore.

I first starting hitting balls, as a freshman in college, in 1971, at age 18...that makes 37 years for me!

Thanks to everyone for adding years to names. Scott, great web site the billiards bio is very interesting. I didn't know you had a Colorado connection.

i started playing when i was about 14 and started to really play when i was about 18. played until i was 25 and then didn't pick up a cue again until i was 36. now i am 37 so all told i have played seriously for about 8 years. if you saw me shoot two weeks ago it looked like i had been playing for 50, if you saw me shoot tonight it looked like i had been playing for ten minutes. damn this game.

played 4 years during college, took the next 40 years off, then started playing again 5 years ago.

it's a good thing i took the 40 year pool vacation, or i wouldn't have achieved anything!

I guy at the YMCA showed me how to draw a cue ball when I was 12, hooked ever since. Let's see 48 minus 12... 36 years, about 30 years with intentions

When I started playing you couldn't get on a table unless you were at least willing to gamble the price of a game. That was over 20 years ago.

I got into darts back in when I was married and figured one day I'd quit playing darts competatively and get into competative pool instead of just playing at the bars. Well 7 years later and a few dart championships I was still saying I'm better at pool than I am at darts so I took the plunge.

That was 6 years ago, and that's when I truly became a student of the game.

Many Many Years

Off and on for about 30 years. Started playing on barboxes when my dad played dominoes at the local bar. He would give me a handful of quarters to play pool so I wouldnt interrupt his 42 or shoot the moon. I've been in love with pool ever since.

I have got to know many of you that post here. I have read threads on your equipment, your pool halls and how you got your user names. Now I am curious on how many years you have been playing. I can remember rolling balls on a neighbors table when I was seven so that means I have been playing for 41 years:eek:
Competitively, 23 years or so. I've owned my own cue for 23 years. Prior to that, pool wasn't more than a passing fancy.

If you count the years that I could barely hold a cue, I could say some 30 years. But ,that's not really a good way to count.
