How many years?

I stated playing bumper pool at the YMCA in 1960 (6 years old). I absolutely loved it and when I told my dad he says that over at Grampa's house there's a table. Well that table is a folding Brunswick model with 1 1/4" balls. Didn't matter, I loved it. My other grandfather was a better player, having owned a bowling hall with pool room. I saw "The Hustler" when it came out and was hooked even more. I bought the little Mosconi book and practiced on my newer 7' table with regulation balls. Growing up in Rochester NY we had Irvine Crane as our local pro. Later when I was old enough to drive we went to a hall where Mike Sigel spent his youth. Rochester had some great players and action in the early 70's.

That said I guess I've been playing for 48 years. Best part is that I'm still learning and having fun with the game.

I banged balls a few time a year since I was like 20. But have only been serious the last 6 years or so.

wow

wow!!! I have just begun I guess:confused: Its been 3 years started at 18. But Try to make up for the lost time at 3 hours a day.....a little action.

My Father took me to a poolhall when I was 7. Didn't know what it was back then but the sound of the balls striking each other was music to my ears.

Picked up my first cuestick when I was 13. Played probably once or twice a year. Started playing carom 4 years ago. Then switched over to pocket billiards 2 years ago when a friend of mine re-introduced me to the game. Been loving it ever since. I'm 25 right now so I have a lifetime to learn and improve~

Breckenridge, nice. My cousin Julie lived there for a while and worked at a ski resort. I think she's down in the Denver area now.

Best guess... played for the first time on a grade-school buddy's basement table... ~50 years ago... I was likely 9 or 10 y/o at the time... maybe a bit more but not much. I had two others that had a table in their basement as well.

After getting married, I took a ~15 year hiatus from pool while raising my two boys from 1981 until 1996. Been playing regularly since then.

I have got to know many of you that post here. I have read threads on your equipment, your pool halls and how you got your user names. Now I am curious on how many years you have been playing. I can remember rolling balls on a neighbors table when I was seven so that means I have been playing for 41 years:eek:

about to be 6 years

Pool time......

I was 6 when my parents bought a Fisher 4 x 8. That was back in 1969, so let me do the math. Oh geez, 39 years.:o Many of those years were doing other things though. I have raced dirt bikes, fished many weekends, snow skiing. Too many other things to mention.
Pool seems to have stuck with me through thick and thin, always right there like a true friend. Sometimes that friend is cruel as hell, other times very nice.

About 26 years for me, but probably about a 2/3 of those years were spent as an occasional player (like I am now).

. ...started in jersey city circa.1948 60 yrs ago......stopped playing at around age 38....began playing again about 3 yrs. ago in fla....play 3 times a week (straight pool) in wilmington nc.....still fascinated by the game...

First ever played when I was 8. Second time I played I was 15. Does that count as 7 years?

Played a total of maybe three or four times between the ages of 21 and 27. I'm 29 now. So been playing 21 years by some math, 14 years by other math, 8 years by other math.

If you count from the first time I banged balls around on a table it's been 20 years. I could barely see over the table, but I won my summer school's pool tournament lol. If you count from when I first took the game seriously it's been 5 years. I'm 24.

Never played the game.

Just kidding. I was 11 when I started playing. That makes approx 48 years. Have not broken once, someday I'll win a game. :D ;)

In 1948, I was 14 when I started cleaning spitoon's (for free time) in Fred Titus' pool room in Durango, Colo. By the time I was 16, I was the best player in town. (pop. about 9,000 then)
So I guess we're looking at 60 years of wild times. Loved 'em all.

Well I am just over the hump (Vail pass) from him, I worked over in Breck for about ten years and played in a three table bar called Shamus O'Toole's. I don't even know if its still there or not.

I started playing on a home table when I was 8 yo and I'm 67 now. So that's 59 years, subtract a few lay-offs and I'd have to say 50+ years. Johnnyt
