How to get smoke smell out of a case??

After you do all that, how do you remove the vinegar smell from your case? JK, But seriously I use febreeze.
What kind of case is it or what is it made of. I clean my cues from time to time and then leave them out of the case for a while. You can also take a few bounce dryer sheets and put in the pockets and down the tube's on a coat hanger or anything that will go down there.
Here is some pretty interesting information I received in an email.
The U.S. Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away.
Use them all the time when playing baseball and soccer.
All this time you've just been putting Bounce in the dryer!
1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.
2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.
4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling..
7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently
weakens the bond between the food and the pan..
14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.
16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.
22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe lovebugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

My local hardware store has some granule odor removing product made from "zeolite". I make a little pouch and fill it up with the stuff and toss it in my case that I take to the bar, I hate the smell of stale smoke. Yes, I feel like Martha Stewart when I'm using my friend's sewing machine. :sorry: It works great and doesn't have a smell of its own, it just sucks in the other smells. I have noticed you do have to change the pouch once in a great while, it does eventually hit a point where it's absorbed as much smoke smell as it can.

Is it a Huebler leather case? We had one that had the worst cigar/pipe smell - never could get rid of it.

If it's not a nice one, just let it air out... that's worked for me a few times.

When my case had a smoky smell in it, I got rid of it by just leaving it open and not using it for a while. The smell always went away on its own. If that doesn't work, maybe Febreeze?

Use a product named Ozium. It will eliminate, not mask, the odor. You can Google it.
I have heard of ozone generators being effective for removing malodors in auto vehicles, I suppose if you enclosed the case inside a box with one of these it would do the job. The disadvantage of ozone generators and some other odor neutralizers is that they tend to bleach out the colors of certain materials.
A.J. DeAngelo's suggestion of trying Ozium IMO is a good one- I use it daily to de-gas my work boots. It may require several treatments depending on the composition of your cue case. I like the smell of Ozium, too (the original scent, that is).
There are numerous other products as well- this subject is one I haven't dealt with in a while, though, so my memory is faded (I used to be a custodian many years ago). Google is a good friend in this case...

Here's my method, that has worked pretty well:
Spray the inside of the case with a lot of Febreze. Soak it in so that the interior is fairly damp. Before it dries, put the case in a large trash bag, without the case lid on, and put 2 large bowls of baking soda in with the case (obviously, youre not dumping the bowls into the bag, rather, set the bowls carefully at the bottom). Tie the bag closed and leave it in the sun for a day.
The baking soda absorbs odors and the damp interior seems to evaporate and "steam clean" your interior. It works pretty good.
Wipe down and clean the outside as well as possible. If it's leather, clean the leather with saddle soap (or your favorite cleaner), then hit it with leather polish. I found that nicotine attaches to the outside like a coat of paint, it's nasty.

$takehorse is a major stock holder of bounce,,,,just saying.
I take a vinella auto freshner and after removing cues from case, I put the freshner in case and shut the top.
A couple days later its covered up with the auto freshner.

Chris, it is a Ron Thomas that is in great condition, just has a mild smoky bar odor on the inside that I'd rather not transfer to a cue that was just refinished and cleaned.

The outside should be cleanable with most any kind of mild cleaner. Fill the inside with kitty litter and leave it in there for a few days.
Nothing is cheaper. Nothing is more effective. Got the fish smell out of a car once after dripping the goo from a freshly caught fish. Also worked when a child barfed in a car.

This reminds me of a very effective old remedy for getting rid of skunk smell. I've never tried it for your purpose but douche would probably work very well. :thumbup:
