I noticed from another article that Hunter is the only other American player besides SVB playing in the World 9 Ball event.

Anyhoo, I was just curious. I see Hunter playing in many pro tournaments and he doesnt usually get in the top 3 spots. My question is......what kind of job does this guy have or what business does he own? It's not cheap to travel all over the country, not to mention, half way around the world.

Does anybody know him personally that has a little background on him?

I'm actually very jealous that Hunter gets to travel all over and play pool and I'm stuck in Tucson working M-F.....just getting weekends off.

Any info.........?

Not much to report after doing a google search on his name.

Apparently, he has a house in West Palm Beach in FL... don't know if he owns or rents. Thorsten Hohmann spent some time with Hunter there a couple of years ago (gleaned from Thorsten's blog).

Like I said... not much to report.

We need eyes and ears on the ground.

That's all we have about this guy?

How do you travel to all these tournies by giving a few lessons?

Maybe he owns a pool hall?

Any Floridians around? Somebody has to know this guy?

Where is our AZ Super Sleuth?;)

I believe he has part ownership in a restaurant. I am not sure what size it is or what kind of money it brings in?

Hunter used to be a real estate agent, but when the economy took a serious dive, he decided to pursue his ambition as a professional pool player. Since then he's been giving it his all, playing in most of the larger US events, as well as almost every Seminole tour stop.

This is his first major venture into international territory. He departed at the start of June, and was headed for Japan, China, and then Qatar.

Hunter's a character. His sense of humor is very dry and sarcastic, and he won't hesitate to make you look silly. Get a few drinks in him, and he'll have you laughing pretty hard.

Anyway, best of luck to Hunter in his travels. Last time I checked, he was one match away from advancing to the final 64.

Hunter is a good guy (like Nathan said) and a pretty good pool player. He usually cashes fairly well in the tourneys he enters (maybe top ten or so), which is probably the break even point for expenses. He has improved dramatically in the last two years. The only way he can take that next step to being a world class player is to get out there and do it. I'm guessing he is sponsoring himself (using whatever savings he has), a privateer in other words. It takes a lot of balls to do what he's doing. I wish him the best of luck and maybe a few rolls along the way. :grin-square:

Hunter is a nice looking man, also well spoken and intelligent. I know there is a scarcity of sponsorship money these days, but a company could do a lot worse than having Hunter on board with them. If I was in the biz that way, I'd seriously consider him to rep me. I might help him anyway to whatever degree I can. He's probably not going to pimp himself on here, but I will for him. I think it would be great if a few of us threw in fifty bucks or so to help him play internationally. I will go on record saying that the next time he travels abroad to play I'll put in $50 (maybe even $100). If only ten of us did that, it would mean a lot to him I'm sure. It's probably the only way some of our guys can make it overseas. It's tough to go over there unless you're one of the favorites to cash high. Even for players like Rodney and Johnny they have to weigh their options carefully. Shane is probably the only American big gun who can afford the travel and have a realistic chance to score.

Thank you Nathan and Jay, that's the stuff I was lookin for.

So basically, Hunter is giving it his all on his own bank roll, you gotta love that.

Good luck to ya Hunter.

Well know fact: Hunter is a hair model for a shampoo company in Argentina.

He came in town a couple years ago with Strong Arm John and hooked up with local to here Bobby Mcgrath...
He was real quiet and played very methodical--never seemed to get jarred. Oh...and he played in his socks! As for the other post about the hair thing....He had the "in style" highlighted doo goin on then, so I assume the model thing could be so. Well mannered dude...

hunter is real good people. very smart and dedicated and giving his dream a shot. i think we'll be seeing him moving on up the ranks fairly quickly over the next year or two now that he's playing full time.

Hunter used to be a real estate agent.

He was a loan officer for Billychips. He's from Ohio, grew up in Florida, moved back to Ohio, moved to Florida with the mortgage business. After the housing market collapsed he turned into an international man of mystery....

I don't know much about Hunter Lombardo personally....
...but I know a bit about names.
The given name 'Hunter' tends come from a moneyed family....
..it aint no 'farm', 'occupational' or 'ghetto' name.
So I wouldn't be surprised if Hunter can do anything he wants.

If it was me i'd go to Manila in the Phillipinines for a month or two and play the 2nd tier players cheap at first, then work up to donating to the 1st tier instead of a few matches in a tournament that cost you $1000,s to go to. I haven't seen anyone do that that wasn't a better player when the went back to their country. JMI. Johnnyt

I have known Hunter since he was about 13 years old. We used to play in Wellington FL at a place called "Break Shot Billiards" He was a good player back then and if the pool room was open he was there. When he got to playing a little better he would start to visit other poolrooms like "Grovers", which was an action place.

I am glad to see he is still playing and starting to make a name for himself.

the name "John" as in John F Kennedy isnt exactly an aristocratic name yet JFK was part of what was practically the american royal family.

so whats your point???? :shakehead:

"I know. He look like a pedophile don't he?"

Stevie Moore - after someone remarked that Hunter Lombardo was growing his hair out.

Not trying to dog Hunter in any way. Just had to throw this in since it was one of the funniest quotes I've heard from a pool player.

I watched Hunter play a couple of years ago at the DCC. He was down by a good margin to Cary Dunn, but he held it together nicely and rallied for the win. Seemed like a nice guy and a real solid player.

Why???????

No offense, but why is it our job to make sure Hunter makes enough money to support himself? If he can afford it than God Bless him and it isn't our place to question his ability to do so.

I know Hunter and I have never asked him where he gets his money, because frankly it's none of my business.

Please let's stop counting other people's money. It is a very rude thing to do IMHO.

I've known Hunter for over ten years. He is the most sincere and passionate player I know. The whole time I've known him he has constantly been seeking knowledge and improvement. He drains me every time we're together.

Hunter is my "poster child" for beautiful, simple form. He teaches with me when I give my 3-day Intensives in Florida.

As Jay suggested, it would be hard to find a better sponsorship candidate. Handsome, smart, well-dressed, funny, beautiful form, sincere, excellent player/instructor/commentator, doesn't drink or do drugs - a winner on the way up.

And no, he's not from money. He's living his dream the classic way - on heart.
