I just won the lottery and I'm giving everyone here $4K to buy a cue!

Mike Bender cue

I would get a High end Mike Bender cue without a doubt! and if there's enough left over a really nice Dakota cue case to match it.
 
This is a simple one for me:

MIKE BENDER

Best hitting, playing cue i've ever picked up,

AND,

for 4k you can get a whole lotta cue,

AND,

Mike will make it just the way you asked for it (the first time). Lot's of cue makers drop the ball here. :)

That's got to be a scam because I have played with that cue and I don't live in va. The thing that got me was the shinny leather wrap. It played good but I don't think its worth any thing close to the asking price.

Don't really need a cue

I don't really need a new cue. Can I just get 4K worth of Kamui chalk. I'm not very good at math, can someone tell me how many cubes that will be. If it's a lot, I may share.

I'd get a sweet ol' school David Kersenbrock as soon as I could get my happy little hands on one. Best hittin' wood I've ever owned and still wanna kick my own a$$ everytime I think of why I had to sell it. Ahhhh the memories...

I THINK IT COMES TO 160 CUBES. AT THAT THEY WOULD SURELY GIVE YOU A DISCOUNT. LIKE MAYBE A FREE TIP:grin:
 
I get a PFD studios. Just kidding Monstermash since I know you are a PFD guy. In all seriousness 4k will get me a housecue conversion or PJ from Searing or a nice traditional Tascarella or Showman with little or no inlays.

.... so I actually believed you but just for a moment.

I would have someone make the butterfly that Fanelli had agreed to make me for $1500 one week before he passed away. He told me that he would do it just to try a new splicing technique. No, I am not lying, $1500 for what should have been a $3500 cue. That's some bad luck right there, but he was very nice to me so I am more upset at his passing.
 
If I won the lottery I would put my name on the list for a 50th anniversary Gina. The only two problems with this plan is that I'm not sure there are any spots available on the list and I'm pretty sure that for $4K there would be a balance due on delivery.

The reason I'm posting this is to see what people would really buy if they had the opportunity to buy one cue. This is a value excerise and there is a lot you can buy for $4K so please take a minute to think about what maker's cue you would buy and why would you choose that maker over all the others. Keep in mind this is a hypothetical situation so the normal rules don't apply. What I mean by that is any cue you could want IS available for sale at current secondary market value. For example, you could by a plain cue from one of the current "in demand" makers or you could buy a loaded cue from a very good maker.

Here's the criteria:

You can only buy one cue.

You can never sell it.

The value of the cue you are buying is directly related to todays market. So no, you can't buy a Gus for what they sold for when he was alive. ;)

You have to play with it for at least the next year so yes, playability is a factor as well as how the cue looks.

If you don't spend the whole $4K, you don't get the difference in cash. ;)

So post it up. What would you buy if you had the chance?

I suppose I would buy a South West, but can't say for sure.
My first cue was a one-piece Dufferin from Kmart. I was in the Navy attending A school at Mare Island. It served me well, and I miss it! Price was less than 20 clams!
 
I would think you could make a real good, strategic buy on a fairly high-end Mottey or Scruggs/Cochran and be sitting pretty, even in this crazy market.
 
I think I would go with either a Tascarella, or a Tadd. I think I would lean more towards a Tadd since I really admire how he dresses up the butt end of a cue.
 
I'd buy Irving Crane's Balabushka from the famous 1966 video, a steal at $4,000 dollars.
