I miss Keith playing...anyone else??

what is this banning you speak of?

'bout time you're back.

I think he's referring to a lost passage of Animal Farm. Orwell cut out a section of the book where Napoleon called Snowball's mother a Guinea Pig while playing on the farmer's pool table. Apparently, the farmer heard what was going on and decided to drop the big ban hammer on Napoleon's little pig head. None of this really happened, of course. It was merely an allegorical reference to Bolshevik revolutionaries.

For whatever reason life changes our priorities from time to time. But without a doubt I truely miss Keither being in tournaments and action. I just became used to reading about him in a magazine or actually watching him play at DCC.

Does anybody know if Keith is going to make the DCC???

It is a great show and with him there woofing and just being Keith it was that much better.

I am not trying to start a flame thread or anything but I just want Keith to know fans miss him being out there in the grind. He is/was such a charismatic figure that entertained above all else.

I know there are many great players out there today and enjoy watching them as well. But I do miss the old school guys who were flambuoyant and brash.

Keith if you are out there man just know fans are still holding out for "COMEBACK '08"!!

Gary

Keith is pretty entertaining no matter what he's doing. I know I was there.
I hear he is playing poker and he's not done yet. I get it.

There is another thread about a tourny in Kenewich WA that reminded me of a Tri-cities tourny we went to in the early 80's. We had so much money that I went shopping, had a manicure, pedicure the works. I caught up with him in the elevator of an old hotel. I can't remeber the name of it but it was beautiful old hotel with the elevator in the corner. Well, Keith announces to me "We're busted" I scream, "WE'RE BUSTED??????" ...... I grabbed the ice bucket at the end of the hall just before the doors closed. I slip in and proceed to chase him around this elevator. I apologize to any of you that were in it with us at the time. I just lost my head and my new manicure in a few short seconds. Every one was running by the time we hit the lobby. Those were the days.

I wanted to bump this old thread back up.

JAM...you seem to become a part of threads where a certain few people post and controversy seems to erupt shortly there after. I can't explain it really so I am not going to go there....

Just so you know....Keith, there are MANY people that would like to see you back out there from time to time if nothing more than making an appearance and helping to stir some action.

If you have given this game up for good then so be it....WE will have to live with that!!! IT was great reading in another thread that YOU CAN GO OUT AND PLAY WHEN YOU WANT TO DO SO!!! I was starting to wonder if you were to henpecked!!! :grin-square: Now get out there and show us JAM hasn't got you whooped!!!:eek::rotflmao1:

and JENNY....Corvette has posted in this thread so you can feel free now to jump right in!!!:grin-devilish::wave:

NO FOULS INTENDED!!!!! lol

I am sure Keith will appreciate your kind words, and I will be sure that he reads them.

No harm, no foul, KY Boy.

We all miss Keith, and I cant think of a single person that would draw a bigger group of railbirds if he were to come back.

That being said, I can also say that if him being around pool would lead him down a road that he no longer cares to travel I have enough respect for him to be happy for his new travels and wish him the best.

If more players had the game and showmanship that Keith has and interact with fans the way he did the sport would be MUCH more popular!

That is very true and I share your sentiments exactly!!!

I hope he sees this thread and know the void there when he quit!! It might give him some inspiration........who knows!!

It would be cool to see Keith back out again. His humor and personality is a welcome addition to the pool world.....now if he would just get back in it.

I guess we will just hold out hope that he gets a wild hair and decides to head to Indiana in January.

Let's kidnap him.....

Seriously, several years ago, and Keith stories are like everything else, some true and some "embellished", but one I heard that makes me smile goes like this; Keith was in Hawaii, and these guys "kidnapped" him to get him in some money games, over here in the main 48.

JAM or Keith can comment if this is a true story.

LOL! It's a story that is being saved for a future time. "Kidnap" may not be the right word, but it's close.

You should hear the one about Mexico. That one was published. What happened in that Mexican bar was so funny. They called him "El Diablo."

Ya know, Ive been "teased" by a lot of women, but this is one of the worst cases yet

You need to get keith to do a series of interviews on tape telling his stories. I mean a book would be ok, but it would be SOOOO much more fun watching Keith tell the stories himself!

Something tells me they would sell like (insert witty comparison here).

Woody

Keith should just play in the Open... its right around the corner from DC, right?

Woody, I've got a ton of audio recordings of Keith, et al., but no videos. You just gave me a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT idea, though.

It's going to take me a little while to figure out how to do it, but I think I can get a video of him telling a pool tale. In fact, I know I can do it. Some of my best friends are videographers, believe it or not. One of them filmed Monica Lewinsky's testimony on the Hill, and he's a good friend of mine, very good friend, in fact.

It's going to be a little difficult to get the logistics down, but if we go to a pool room nearby, I think that will be the PERFECT setting. We've got some great pool folk in our area, and the interaction will be great, plus the backdrop and audio of the pool room itself to add authenticity and reality.

Hey, I think this is going to be fun! Thanks for planting the seed in my head.

Jenny...that would be great if you could pull it together!!!

Keith wired up!!!! lol WOW, some of the stories he could tell!!!

Gary

Keith really should think about coming to DCC for a few days, whether he plays or not. He could probably pay for his trip just by signing cue balls. It would be an opportunity to see many of his old friends and reconnect with his fans. He may be missing out on some other good opportunities as well. The poker will still be there when he returns. :)

Like you guys, I'm trying to bring Keith out of retirement for a special match. We'll just have to wait and see what transpires.

The best way to get Keith back is to play 9 Ball with ROLL OUT RULES. Everybody elses game went up 2 balls when one foul became the game. Keith could no longer push out to tough shots and then run out.

You believe that Keith may be missing "good opportunities," but I have different thoughts about the DCC experience as a whole.

One thing we both agree on, Jay, is that it is fun to see old friends and hang out with the pool enthusiasts. :grin-square:

I turned down a trip to go to Istanbul last month for work. I could have pocketed a big chunk of cheese, but when you're chief cook and bottle washer, it is difficult to cover existing clients when you're away from the fort.

Having been to the DCC several times, I realize how cool it is to party, shoot pool, enjoy good spirits, break bread with friends, and form new relationships.

As much as I wish I was independently weathy and could travel the globe like you, Jay, I'm not. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, I have work responsibilities, and, dag nab it, I ain't ready for retirement just yet. I do hope there's some Social Security monies left when my time comes.

To tell you the truth, after a week of hanging out on this forum and reading all of the comments written by pool detective(s), et al., pool continues to leave a real sour taste in my mouth, one I cannot seem to get rid of.

At this stage of my life, Jay, I do what makes me feel good, instead of trying to please others. I used to place pool on the front burner in my life, mainly because of Keith, but never again. Once you get sucker-punched in the face a few times, you learn to move away from the sources. I refuse to follow the piped piper. :bow-down:

If Keith goes to DCC, he'll be solo. Then he can dance like a monkey for all to enjoy.

BTW, congratulations on your new daughter. I hope she is healthy and brings you joy in life. :smiling-heart:

At A Glass City Open one of the greatest matches that was also the last one of the night and featured Keith against Earl. Need not say any more.

Miss both Keith and the Glass City Open.

Jenny,

I am not sure what you want. You have a boyfriend that is one of the most admired and revered players to ever play this game. We let him know how much he is missed in the pool scene and your refute is that we want him to dance like a monkey....I enjoy watching Keith play pool along with many others on this forum...nothing more, nothing less!

He is a celebrity for crying out loud and it seems as though (the way you write it up) that if he goes to DCC then he will be solo for good...none of my business I know but really I hope that Keith will post to this thread and let us know why he has given up the game...I have heard you talk about FANS of this game that sold autographed pictures you and Keith sent them for free. I can't help what others do but I do know that you seem to take this urging of Keith to reappear on the scene as threat against your relationship....I assure it is not!

I would very much like to meet you as much as him...I told you quite sometime back that I would buy both of your dinners one evening if I ever had the opportunity and the offer still stands...Take Care!!

Thanks Jen, I know you mean it. They have been going through a real tough time over there the last couple of weeks. First Jalo was sick and now her mother. I wish I could be there to help them, but I do the best I can from far away.

I also have responsibilities (like an 89 year old mother to care for) that keep me close to home most of the time. I have to plan my travels carefully too. Like you Jen, I have been burned in the pool industry, more than once. But it could happen in any line of work. This is the path I chose for myself, just like Keith did all those years ago. It's too late for me to go back now.

I don't think "dancing like a monkey" is the best description of what Keith does on a pool table. There are many people (myself included) who appreciate his special talent and skills. His original humor is only a bonus! Keith and I have had our ups and downs, but he remains one of the most memorable people I have ever known. His story is unique and so is he. In the pool world Keith is a STAR!
