I miss playing pool for money

All the effort I put into becoming one of the top players in the country and now everything seems to be on pause or slow rewind.

That's just perfect. The fact that you can even write such a thing tells me that you have zero chance of ever becoming a top player.

I think I came to the wrong state, Missouri, (STL) area has the least action of any city I've ever been to, trying to get a $50 set is just about impossible here unless I'm giving up a massive spot that i cannot outrun.

I had my chances to win the open division in Vegas this year just to find myself too broke for the entry fee.

I will be taking a break from pool most likely since I live too far away from a poolroom to walk and I still don't have a car after ditching mine to go with Gene in September.

I just miss playing for money the days I could bet $50 on a single rack of 9 ball have come to pass for me. I'm going to find work and save up for a car and then save a couple months of pay then quit my job and go back out on the road again. I just hope my game doesn't suffer.
In all honestly, how would you go on the road today? Would you have a goal or would it just be something to do as you remained broke or have a few dollars. Everything just eats up your money.

I used to travel in an RV but even that today fuel prices would eat up a lot of your money. I believe it would be hard to stay in the black much less actually put together a sum on money. I remember in the earlier 70s coming back from a short trip and going into a dealership and buying a new car with just my winnings from that trip and I was no world beater just a good player.

I think today it is impossible to go on the road. There isn't even anywhere to go, most towns don't even have pool rooms anymore and bar action is nothing like it was 35 or 40 years ago. I remember going to phone booths and all the yellow pages had the B page that had billiards on it torn out already there was so many guys running around playing. Heck, today they want to stick a knife in you if they think they have been hustled.

.

Did you really mean to type that first sentence ?

Get a job, save some cash, and I will personally send you a plane ticket to Chicago if you come with at least $5K. You will get all the action you want, and then some. And you will get some nice spots as well. Come and get some.... I'll have them lined up and waiting for ya, so you will NOT have to go looking for action... Hell, I'll even put out a schedule of matches for ya ;)

Yea RJ, I never see to many folks that want to come to Chicago looking for action. Gotta be a reason for that!!

Come to nyc and there will be a line out the door to take your money. No spots necessary.

You are crazy. You can stand on your head and bet all that falls out tonight. Come to O'Fallon, MO and you have action. There are many people there who will play and none are champions. If you come up and lose a decent amount, I'll give you bus fare back or make sure you get a ride.

Action guaranteed. I never woof without intending to bet money.

No one can say there is not action in MO, but it might not be free money.

Dear god!!

Seriously? Why would you even think this would be a good idea? Build up a reserve, make sure you have enough put away so that you can eat, sleep INSIDE, clean clothes on your back etc... BEFORE attempting some frivolous and silly pipe dream.
If you don't have all of that, then quit before you start. You've got issues, you really should look into seeking help. It's not okay to keep on like this.

I miss, playing pool for money.
....punctuation means a lot.

Very subtle, love it :)
I tried to rep you for making me laugh, but it says I need to spread it around.

Rhea, there are "hustlers" and there are "suckers". If your broke in Missouri and can't make money shooting pool, maybe you need to ask "which player am I "?

I'd be shocked if there weren't half a dozen or more people on here from that area that wouldn't salivate at steering you into action.

wrong

Rhea is from St.Louis. She went on the ride got three balls better then came back to St.Louis. Rhea is asking players she played even with years ago for big spots. It is a joke. Oh yeah and you can't win anything? She is asking to play less than $5 a rack or getting staked for these crazy spots for a whole $50. Why would I leave the house to play a game I can't win and even if I did....$50 to cover my gas, pool time,etc...

Second, all of these silly requests for her to come to your cities etc...

SHE is dead BROKE! No car, no money, no food, no sticks, no anything. Does your pool hall need action that bad?

If you can't get action, it's because your reputation precedes you.
You must be more anonymous.

Suggest disguising yourself as Fatboy.

One of the old timers in my pool room always said, "if you can't beat the trash in your own town, why go on the road?"

Where is the "like" button, or "i could not agree more" button. We need something like that here.:grin-square:

Several good posts in this thread resulted in green reps from me.....

I too tried setting this dude up with a bud of mine who'd have gladly taken his money for much more than 50 a set.....and he was right on the way of his travels. He never even acknowledged the post....so I guess he wasn't *too* hungry for action.

This was my point....just doesn't sound like a good game anyway you look at it.
I steer my friends clear of people like this. Its a BAD game.;)

I'll be at Fargo Billiards July 21-23...bring your cash...you've got action...
