I was able to make it to my second International Cue Collector Show this year and just like last year it was a lot of fun. The show was in Santa Fe, New Mexico this year at The Inn and Spa of Loreto, a very nice hotel. Bill Stroud pulled out all the stops putting together this years show.

I was not able to get many still shots this time because we were so busy with doing video work. Friday was a technical nightmare due to an issue with a hard drive. Anyone who knows the joy of trying to write a file over 4 GB in size to a Fat32 formatted drive from a windows OS machine may know what I am talking about. The fact that every other identical drive I bought was NTFS didnt stop Murphy from b!tch slapping us on Friday.

Saturday was much better and we interviewed all of the displaying collectors at their display. I could write forever about what was out there but I will just let you see for yourself when the video is done later this week.

The absolute coolest thing we did was Saturday night after the banquet. Thanks to the help of John Showman, Jerry McWhorter and Jim Stadum we were able to hold a cue makers round table discussion. To my knowledge it is the first time something of this sort it has ever been recorded. There were sixteen participating cue makers in the discussion and it was epic. That video will be out soon as well.

Andy Chen went to the show with me and once again was a huge help in getting things done as well as adding some much needed technical assistance with the lighting and audio set ups. Andy is somewhat of a cue noob but told me the show really opened his eyes to what was possible, I think we may have created a monster.

Thanks to Bill Stroud, Will Prout and all of the collectors and cue makers for having us again this year. Hope to see everyone next year. Below are some photos from the weekend.

Here are some shots from a get together at a local pool room on Thursday night:

Bill Stroud not only makes cues he knows how to use them.

My one pocket partner Andy Gilbert demonstrating the "Louisana Slug" that his cousin Scotty Townsend showed him. (Just kidding Andy)

Here are some pics from the show itself:

Will Prout checking out a cue. That vertical cue in the foreground is the first cue that David Kersenbrock ever made.

Ken Kerner's display. Ken had to return home early to be with his father who is ill. We wish the best for Ken and his family.

The USMC cue from Keith Walton's collection. I do not remember the maker of this cue unfortunately.

Me with the Hat Squad. Jim Stadum, Thomas Wayne, and Jerry McWhorter. I think the hat brought out the inner car salesman in Thomas Wayne because he kept saying "What do we have to do to get you in this cue today?"

All of the video will be out this week. If you are any kind of cue enthusiast you don't want to miss it.

Thanks very much for taking the time to post this, I enjoyed it very much.

Thanks Justin, The Eden cue is one of the most unique and special cues I have ever seen. A tip of my hat to Bob Manzino.

Thanks for the great pics. You and Little Bear have
both lost a ton of weight. You look good and healthy.
Is it love or a bet?

Lots of hugs

I want to say that Justin and Andy were without a doubt the hardest working folks at the show. TAR is the REAL DEAL with their gear and setup.

The cue maker's round table was one of the best things I have seen in pool since I have been in pool. Thomas Wayne hogged the spotlight most of the time :-) but he had a lot of great things to say and Jim Stadum made me fall off my chair laughing with one of his comments, perfectly timed, in the discussion about scrimshaw. Thanks Justin for conceiving it and thanks to all the cue makers who participated. Pretty cool to see what's on your minds.

I truly see TAR as the next Accu-Stats and beyond for their ability and willingness to preserve events like this. This is as much of what pool is about as great tournaments are.

I wasn't there but I sure agree with JB's comments regarding TAR. They are making history as well as preserving precious pool moments for posterity.

I would like to know more about the David Kersenbrock cue. Are you the original owner, if so what state and city did David live. What year was cue made, and how did you authenticate it. Thank you, please let me know.
