If money was held out from some players in the MC it should be made public. What players, why, and how much. AZB Purse money has all 10 players getting their full amount. Even the top levels of pool is run like the Mafia. With their dirty little secrets kept hush-hush. If more was made public about this kind of thing certain players would be run out of all major tournaments and the cleansing could begin. Johnnyt

Matchroom business is just that - Matchroom business and there is no reason for them to disclose commercial information. They are not the Mafia,
Should they consider that certain occurrences (for example the on air swearing) were devaluing their product then they would be within their rights to impose penalties on the offenders.

If they wish to disclose these matters then that is their perogative. But there is no 'public right to know'.

See post #17 in the Sir Barry Hearn thread. Johnnyt

Which says that checks were docked for behavioral problems. Based on what I've heard (I was only able to watch a small amount of it), some players deserved to get fined for their behavior.

When you say "players would be run out of all major tournaments" do you mean actual players or "players" such as organizers?

Checks were issued, but some may have been docked for behavioral problems.

Does that mean that it was only one instance or more than one player.

So within Match Room Rules, you can receive a fine for certain Faux Pas?

I think Snooker is heavily regulated is it not. They hand out player fines quite frequently.

I couldn't agree less.

It has never been the role of AZ to track payments, and purse moneys earned by players are, quite correctly, added to earnings upon completion of events.

I also disagree that it is any business' responsibility to its consumers to share the details of its accounts payable dealings. Payment to the players is no more than that.

Yes, certain matters appear to be under investigation, and that's Matchroom's business, not ours. If and when significant decisions are made by Matchroom concerning these matters, it is, once again, none of our business.

Having said that, however, if Matchroom chooses to make public such investigations and decisions, that's their right and then it becomes our business.

JohnnyT, you are one of my favorite posters on this forum, but your sense of entitlement to information seems odd to me, and your labeling of those who fail to provide it as Mafia-types is, in my estimation, way out of bounds.

Patience, JohnnyT, if there's a story to be told, it will be told soon enough.

If you want to believe checks were docked due to behavioral problems, go ahead.

If you want to take a step up to the real issues, that might be fruitful.

Pools dirty secrets. Until there is not a necessity to fight over a nut, then US pro pool is limited. Pro pool needs a Daddy with a paddle to grow.

Uh huh. Ala, Mark Griffin for a start.

But yer correct KK. If Barry is going to be involved in American pool, you bet he is going to be bringing a Willow switch with him.

I heard a week ago what was going on, and like Doug says, it is no ones business until matchroom decide or not decide to disclose any information.

And no i won't reveal what is going on, it's not mine nor your business to reveal what is going on. Have respect for Barry and Luke and what they decide to do with there in house business is entirely up to them.

NOOOO! Not Mark Griffin! I heard he deliberately stepped on a japanese beatle once! ;)

Seriously - Mark G, Hearn, Badi, Greg, BCA, JCIN, Mark C, Jay, Howerton, Jerry and others - SHOULD MAKE A F'G PHONE CALL! Slap the cowboys. Only until the cowboys have reins can $$ be raised that allow players to have a chance at making an honest living.

If we don't think these phone calls are occurring as we speak...

Fingers crossed.

For fvck sakes, either tells us this big secret or don't, but these vague threads and posts are becoming very fatboy-ish.

Mahna, I can feel and understand your frustration. I ask you to feel mine as well. I'm trying to move the needle. Until speculation turns to fact or alliances are willing to be lost.... Read between the lines please. Or if you'd rather, I can stop posting. Maybe I should.

Well, if money was held back due to the players breaching a code of conduct contract, then good for Matchroom. Its about time someone penalized the players behavior.

If on the other hand money was held back because Matchroom went broke like many other promoters, then that absolutely needs to be out in the open, and is not only "their" business. Its all of our buisness.

I have no information except what I read in this thread, and forming my "guesses" based on what was written in this thread.
