If you could afford any cue makers cue who's cue would you buy for your everyday cue

The list would be long for me.
I fit came right down to one, it would be Pete Tascarella. I would ask that he make me a reasonable facsimile of a Balabushka in terms of looks.

The rest would just be his magic.

???

Not having had the chance to shoot with most of the high end cue makers... I dunno if I'd choose any of them or not.

The BCM I purchased a little over a month ago is SWEET, exceptionally solid.

Just today I recieved one of Chuck Starkey's special, ferruless, no weight BEM and Ebony players (I'll post pics and a review over the weekend), seems very simple, elegant and intial thoughts are SWEET :D

My Dieckman is probably more cue than I can shoot with...
Chester's Krick's stick has a slightly different taper that requires me to adjust...
Nothing breaks like my Dominiak 001 (and it's not a break cue)

Honestly, any better made cue that fits my playing style and eye, will do just fine...

I can't resist, after all... it's the indian and not the arrow!

I think I would want a plain Titlist conversion done by any good cue builder.
I just love that old school look.

A Bill Schick sneaky pete...hands down.

(not so close 2nd)

My Barry Cameron
Pete Tascarella sneaky
Andy Gilbert sneaky

Favorite cue maker.....

I'd be very happy with one of John Showman's cues. His work is outstanding!

i already have done this. Keith Hanssen, with out a doubt, best hitting, best artestry, best everything. i truely believe he is the best builder out there. He just finished making a cue with 180 points. (no that is not a typo.) my cue is the feature cue on his web page right no. The Roman cue plays GREAT, and it's named after my son who was born on the same day. I don't think i can find a more perfect cue!!!!

best,

Justin

That is not entirely true, because the cue has to have a certain quality to it to shoot good with it. Yes, you can make a duck with any cue, but you have to have a pretty decent cue to make the hard shots with it. As a person that was involved with Archery since the age of 7 (my paternal grandfather made bows and arrows), I can tell you the bow definately makes a difference of how good you can shoot.

I don't know why people do threads like this. Are they going to win the lottery and make it reality? I seriously doubt that. I would be much more interested in the cuemaker a person was going to have make them a cue with the real available funds they had. I have $2,000 available to spend on a cue, now who am I going to to make the cue? People usually go the cuemaker that they know, or least have several recommendations on.

I plan to spend between $1,600 to $2,200 next year on a cue, and I am going to my regular cuemaker to make it for me.
Bob Owen of Shurtz custom cues is my regular cuemaker that I like, and a good guy to work with. I like some of the traditional cues, but I like a Southwestern style cue better (Southwestern like New Mexico or Arizona, not Southwest cues which are pretty plain really. I have only seen one 'fancy' Southwest cue in person).

Gary Medlin of Gem Cues

In 1991 I chose Gary Medlin to build my one Custom Cue that has been my everyday player for 20 years. Until this year, when I purchased another GEM Cue that has become my new everyday player. Gary builds a solid hitting players cue. My benchmark was the same hit as a Szamboti. I have also commissioned Gary to build me two conversions from old BBC's I had picked up 20 years ago in Iowa. He only builds a few cues a year and I am happy to wait for them.

What cue?

I am interested in who's cue people would choose if they could afford any maker.

Thanks

Kevin

Being a cue fanatic any info/news about cues grabs my attention. Unfortunately, too many cues later and too much money spent it is still a weakness of mine. What I think would also be revealing is a question for the cuemakers to tell us what price level one has to pay to get their best work in terms of a quality playing cue. This would be very helpful for those who know what maker they want to buy from but have limited dollars for a cue. For example will their $500-1000 cue perform as well as their $3000-5000 dollar cue? I have a plain four point Black Boar cue I bought from Tony twenty years ago that I firmly believe plays as well as any $5000 cue he builds. Of course he wouldn't build a cue that inexpensive today and I don't blame him. Why build a $1000 cue when he can sell all the $5000 cues he can make.

Searing precision cue on order and might come up in about 8 to 10 years. Dennis told me that he felt like a player should have 4 points and 4 veneers so the owner feels great about the cue in his hands, sounds right to me. --Leonard

Well....

Some of those I would want no longer make cues or have passed. Of those my dream cue is a Mottey first and foremost.

Of those still making cues there would be several possibilities...

Tasc. Maybe

Hercek. Maybe

Others...for sure...

There are numerous more obscure or lesser known makers that I might pick though. The two above would be leaders for obvious reasons.

Chuck Starkey would be a possibility. Very progressive. Makes real player cues.

There are others that I have spoken to. I know their heart is in their work yet they are only just starting out or are not (yet) highly regarded. I know they would make me a great player.

I would consider a custom JOSS cue as well, with sharp points....and an Ivory joint....yes, JOSS still makes custom cues.

In the end I don't know.

If it really happened, if I could buy anything I wanted, it would be a very difficult decision.

I can say for sure that the decision would not be based on the prestige of a name.

The more difficult decision for me would actually be: full splice, short splice, or "conversion"? A CNC short splice wouldn't even be considered so makers like Schon etc wouldn't be considered at all.

50 yrs playing pool. Owned a room and hit balls with maybe a zillion custom cues that the players were anxious for me to try as they bought them, traded them and showed them off.

LMAO, I like my old Meucci better than any of em to play with.

I have been playing a long time as well. I still like the Meucci hit!
I'm using a Schon for the most part right now, but not last night.
It was Meucci night. lol

I'd go with RC3 ( Chudy ), Richard Black or Black Boar. Sadly I have never hit with these cues but I think they have some amazing designs.
