Gene Albrecht (GenoMachino) has been discussing perfect aim and selling his DVD's for years. He has what is essentially a very entertaining and enlightening blog on his road trips. It's possibly the best content I've ever read on AZ Billiards:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=295692

Surely he's sold a TON of dvd's to us right? Not exactly. His i-trader is exactly 2.

C.J. Wiley has been offering his products for a while now. C.J. was a highly competitive pro player and captained the US Mosconi cup team (played on it too). Here is some teaching straight from the mouth of a pro who has been there, done that. A lot.

While C. J. may not be able to retire on the i-trader 6 dvd's he has sold here, some of us will treat him like he can.

Stan Shuffet has put together what was a word of mouth, little understood, highly misquoted and confused aiming system, has a fanatical following including some successful pros. He's been a professional pool instructor for 30 years.

Who knows more than Stan? Maybe you do. His i-trader is 2.

I just want to say that WE are getting a lot more out of Gene, C.J. and Stan than they're getting out of us. So if you're tempted to criticize them for pitching their products on AZ, please consider they are getting almost no action from us. It's pretty obvious these guys love the game.

First off, I dont disagree with your point.

But theres no way in hell the three of them have only sold 10 dvds combined.

And to be honest..... Implying so certainly is not doing them any favors.

I'm So GLAD you made THIS POINT, and I never had to.

I'm So GLAD you made THIS POINT, and I never had to. :) The worse part about getting accused of "too much selling" isn't the personal insults, it's the fact that azbilliards represents less that 3% (it's more than 6, but not thousands) of my total world wide sales of products at this time. I was wondering where all this supposed profit was going, was az somehow taking it before it ever got to my bank account???

Some of these "posters" were acting like I was having to enlarge all of my off shore accounts and my villa in the South of France from my DVD sales. At one point I GAVE 20 DVDs away just because the insults and innuendos got so intolerable. I enjoy making money to provide a certain quality of living, however, selling DVDs won't even pay the light bill at my house.

I appreciate the orders that I am getting and will continue to enjoy answering all the questions that come up as I committed to doing at the beginning. Just please cut Stan, Gene and myself some slack about the business end of our presence here on this Forum.....because it's not about money, although, I wish it at least "could be."

I see your point, and there's plenty of good free info to be had from these guys.

But I imagine lots of AZBers just google for these products, buy them from the first link that pops up, and itrader never gets involved. The DVDs are for sale from the player's websites, and probably sites like ozone or seyberts.

I've been on AZ for years and have tons of DVDs, never touched iTrader. I think these guys have sold more than half a dozen DVDs either directly or indirectly via AZ. And I'm fine with that.

I'm fine with it, as well. And, like Creedo has said, these fellows provide plenty of free information along the way that is beneficial to everyone.

The members here have been very diligent about leaving i-trader for me, so I wonder if it's really the case. However, at the very least then, the members who have bought from them should leave i-trader rep - it's not too late to do so.

I've been on this forum for a year and don't even know what I-trader is. I've bought one of CJ's DVDs and Brett Lee's but I just went to their web page to do it.

Gosh C.J., what do I have to call you or insult you with to get me a free DVD??? :grin-square:

And, I want the new one as I've already purchased the Ultimate Pool Secrets disc.

You'd think I'd have gotten something from you for having reported you as dead back in 2006 (something I still feel terrible about).

Maniac (you know I'm just funnin' with you, right?)

In my case, I had already purchased the Ultimate Pool Secrets disc before C.J. was a "regular" contributor here, so I never even really considered that I should have added i-trader. To me, it was more like: I send money, you send product-type of transaction that is done frequently through internet shopping.

I suppose I could go ahead and give him some i-trader 2+ years past due.

I agree. I suck at it myself.

I've bought and sold quite a bit here over the years and mine is at like 6 ?

CJ,

Never had the opportunity to meet you. Wish I had. Perhaps in the near future. Many of the most respected people on AZ have said you were a stand up guy. Your reply to this thread proves it. Most of the other "Pro" players on AZ would have packed up and left over what some see as an insult. Thanks for the reply and your continued attempts to help the forum and the pool players who post here .

Lessons

I have bought from all three. C.J., Stan, and Gene all have great products. Everyone, IMO, would gain volumes from each of these pool greats. A big AZ salute to the three of them!

CJ

I have no idea what the psychology is of the internet guys, who would be opening doors for you and fetching you drinks and dusting off your chair with respect were you ever to show up in their pool room, giving you crap here at AZ from behind their keyboard. All of us that have been here for awhile of all seen whatever great players did show up get driven out by sniping from guys none of us recognize.

You seem maybe a little thicker skinned than most, and certainly more thoughtful than most, and I think the place is better off with you than without you and would like to request that you put up with the silly negativity and stay here.

As far as you looking to make some money while you are here, I mean hey, you are a PRO player, what's the confusion?

Thanks

Kevin

I'm ok with the contrast, at least it's not boring

Thanks Lyn, I was told months ago that this Forum is just like a regular pool room except the guys that keep to themselves that never say anything actually speak out here. Some are good and some are "not so good," that's the beauty and ugliness of this country and world. I'm ok with the contrast, at least it's not boring and have found that it's difficult to have light without some darkness :D Aloha

I don't mind some "salesmanship" in Main Forum, as long as it's not relentlessly in your face.

I thought Gene was pushing that line a little while back, but seems to me he's changed his approach nicely. His 2 1/2 men in a van thread has been very interesting and he writes well.

I enjoy the pros coming on here, I wish more had thick enough skin to weather the 5% idiots that prod them. CJ certainly has that thick skin and contributes a lot here. :thumbup2:

Good OP Chris!

I haven't been here very long at all, but I've purchased 28 cues from one member, a year at a training site from another, sold one cue and have spoke with Gene to try and get him to come through here on his trip. If he does, he'll sell lessons for sure.
My i-trader only says 1. Not everything is as it seems. =)

I am glad you said it, Tate.

These guys, along with BigTruck and all those tournament directors, are making MILLIONS, MONTHLY off of this place which we use, for free, to discuss this game we all love and hope to make better

Words from a wise man....... No doubt

Best friggin post I've read in a long time !! I come on AZ to read about things that might help my game and try everything. These guys have posted many things that I have tried and have helped. Now if CJ would just get the TOI video done my life would be a little better !! :)
