Interview with Jason Hunt "Buffalo" - What's wrong with pool 60 minutes.

Jason is my house guest and he wanted to spend some time getting some things out there so I did a spot with him where he goes off and talks about pools many aspects.

Interview starts around 8 minutes into the clip.

Best player in Texas?, have another beer, I thought Sylver is. Successful?, isn't this guy always scuffling around to get by and broke. Talking about Accu-stats, I believe the players get a percent of all sales, Pat hands out checks. I will agree on the point of some promoters not doing the right thing as they should, such as this fiasco with Tony Annigoni and some of the stuff Barry Behrman has done stinks too.

We do need the US Open 9 ball and I am sure its not an easy task to do it by any means and raising the added money but why not ad what you can instead of promising X and delivering Y. I applaud Mark Griffin, Greg Sullivan, Allen Hopkins, Dragon Promotions and others whom are doing what they promise as far as paying players.

He mentions athletes that do not even play anymore, he does not get that there is no money in pool for the run of the mill pro. This is not a huge spectator sport like the MLB, NBA, NFL and other organizations. It is boring for the average person to watch, big sports games do have exciting moments but are boring at times to me even being there live in person front row.

He speaks about millions of dollars, pool is a multi million dollar industry, count manufacturers, pool rooms and everything else. What does Predator make a year? I know a good deal of cue makers are scraping to get by except for the top guys and I doubt they are rich. Poolrooms are closing up regularly but so are other businesses. When I was green and still am a little bit, I thought we could draw a big sponsor and pool will be revived, maybe one day in our lifetimes but it does not look good.

He is wrong about all the players from PI getting paid a salary, some players in Asia do. I know some of the players from PI are here just trying to earn money for their families and are broke. I heard that a top PI player did not buy back in one tournament because he was broke and would not pay it, there were a 100 guys there that would have put him in for sure. With most players I would not judge a book by the cover, some are in good positions and others are not doing so great but you might think they are. It is kind of like Mr. Hunt here, he comes off ghetto, drunk and in shambles but is probably a good dude I am sure.

He is right about the players not going out to enough amateur events and promoting themselves along with sponsors and the home room they play out of. I appreciate Jason's honesty and I am just giving an honest reply to his interview. It sounds from the end of the interview that he needs some new threads and wants a clothes sponsor. For a good laugh just fast forward to 1:02:10 , funny stuff. :p

Mike, thanks for posting this interview and also for the fine streaming work you do. I have gotten to check it out here and there and wish you success in it, you do a very good job.

Hey he really wasn't drunk heheh

He just had a beer.... maybe he was twisted getting his hair done by Sherodaka. Actually i'd say he seems out of sorts nervously because he has bells palsy and we just did a live cut obviously no editing. His left side of his face doesn't even function correctly.

We might do another one or do a live thing he has tons of stories. Jason meant to say he was the best player in San Antonio, which I don't know is true but I hear a lot of stories that he wins everything there so people hate on him.

As far as the compliments thank you so much I appreciate that on the stream coming from other streamers. People don't realize what it takes or what knowledge is required. Thanks for your support. I was trying to find you at derby city but one night frost said oh yeah lenny is with me but hes back up in the room sleeping.

Compliments to you on the power one pocket trailer it looks great and I hope to get a copy sometime, maybe we could trade for some of my matches on dvd?

Tvmike.

LOL at this interview....This guy wasnt even the best player in Western hills which is a small suburb of Cincinnati.

Long story short....He came..He asked to play 50 a game...He went home busted AND left his leather jacket there.....I know there are a few posters here who remember this as they are the ones who called me at home. lol

The dude is alright, but he seemed to be a bit of a flake....Thats more obvious now lol He acts like a goon when he was playing down the Derby the past two years I heard

haha.... that was funny

That was quite the stream of consiousness(sp).

I really appreciate the guys heart. He certainly is passionate about what he speaks, but i am not sure this is the correct form to try and gain sponsor support. I doubt coke, polo, or even puffy are going to come calling for a shirtless guy drinking a beer while getting his hair done rambling on about getting guns pulled on him, robbed, beat up, scammed, etc and then asking them to pump money into the sport so that doesnt happen. The logic doesnt quite clik for me. I people are going to pull that crap for 100's to 1000's of dollars, they will stop if you dangle a million in front of them?

Also quite funny when he talks about how great he is/was/could have been, but doesnt practice? I get what he is saying, but still funny.

I listened to 5 minuets of this guy's interview and had to turn it off. He preaches about why pool has a bad image during his interview.....maybe next time he should do the interview with the following in mind:

1) Wear a shirt. I bow down to your incredible physique, but please cover it up if you want anyone to take you seriously.

2) Maybe wait until AFTER the interview to get your hair done. Can't you just at least try to come off as professional?

3) Were you really drinking while doing an interview? I thought I was the only one who drank 24/7...

4) You don't need to throw in the line "in the world" after you let us know what place you got at the Derby banks tournament.

I could go on, but what's the point? I can tell you one thing, if you approached me (or most people I know) with that attitude, you will never get any action.

-Eric

PS - Please stop saying that you are the best player in Texas before too many people laugh at you.

PPS - I admit, I HAD to finish the interview. You are that special to me. Did you really call yourself "the Jesus Christ of pool"? I take back every mean thing I ever said to you...that was AWESOME!!

Interview with Jason

I watched this guy play at DCC, he has a gear most people only dream about.
He also seems to have the issues a lot of gifted people have.
I enjoyed talking to him there and I especially like his candor.
Thanks Jason for sayiong what you were thinking, it's too bad more people can't be that honest.
You're in my prayers young man.

7-1 7-2 7-1 7-3 7-1 No one made it past 9 on me, I'm the best in Texas.

Have that beer man.

Oh no not Bald Mike the white guy from the East coast, you know the cook from the East coast. I lost double or nothing up 28 games to Bald Mike, you know him.

I play so good, I don't know how good I play.

I took a nobody girl and made her the best player in Las Vegas, except for two other girls in Vegas, but besides those girls she was the best.

BEST QUOTES EVAHHHHHHHH

I've seen this kid play he can beat 95% of the posters on here. Like it or not he made some very valid points. I do think he could have found a better way to express himself though. The shirt off and dreads kind of threw me off.

The pool world definitely does need to try something different. What is that old saying? . . . "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Wow really. I have never seen this guy book a winner...and I played him once. Of course he has to book winners, but not when I happened to be there. A little full of himself from what I have seen.

He doesn't seem like that bad of a guy, but he is out there.
