Invitation to karl boyes

It does not change the reality that Karl is STILL at a disadvantage playing in the USA because of the home field advantage and the bet, whether it be $5000 or $50,000 is a bad one due to that fact and thus screws up the matches chances of taking place.
edited for brevity.

Why not have the match in a neutral place like Nassau or Jamaica? Iceland? All sidetrips for Karl on his way back to England? :)

Or more likely then that, the logistics of the above suck, Karl is not going to play in the USA, and thus we wont see the match. Period. End of story. That is the logical conclusion that this whole thread will lead to.

Anyone want to bet otherwise? I will take even money that Dennis and Karl DON'T play a match for $5,000 or more within 2011. Any takers?

Maybe they could play on a ship that is exactly half way between the exactly gps locations of their houses. This way all the euro would shut up about having to play in the US. I'm going to start playing snooker and then cry when top players from Europe wont come to the US and play me.. wahwah!

I don't think anyone has read my post above yours :)

Now we've got a plan! That's the first thing that I thought when people started complaining about "home country" advantage. Aside from the fact that the Euro crowd seems to revel in being unruly during play, I really think being in England or the USA makes no difference.

Of course, now there's this whole thing with Karl not playing money matches. Talk about a fun killer. :p:D

I wonder how much better Efren is in the Phillipines.

THAT was a funny post! :D

Yes, such wisdom, like the pool equivalent of rocket science, quantum physics has nothing on that post.

The fact that Karl is at a disadvantage playing in the USA against Dennis is not changed in the slightest by that post. Yes tar is located in the USA, yes both players will be in Vegas at the time of the BCA, yes this makes the logistics of the match easier, WTG Newton. It does not change the reality that Karl is STILL at a disadvantage playing in the USA because of the home field advantage and the bet, whether it be $5000 or $50,000 is a bad one due to that fact and thus screws up the matches chances of taking place.

Terry can spout off that amazing revelation till the cows come home and it is not going to change the fact that Karl is going to see the match as a bad bet if played in Vegas and he is not going to do it and so Tar, Accustats, can all sit there in the USA and NOT take part in a match that is NOT going to take place at all. THAT is the reality which this thread will lead to. It does not matter in the slightest what the logistics are if the match does not go off at all.

When people talk about "home field advantage" they are talking about someone playing at the same poolroom that they always practice in. The advantage is that the person knows that particular table much better than his opponent does. It's not because he is playing in front of people that are of the same nationality as him.

So if they both played in Vegas, and since neither of them live in Vegas, there is no "home field advantage".

you can come and play on our best match table

Are you serious? Normally, I would agree with you; however, in this instance it would be the same as the home field advantage for a Mosconi Cup team.

Dennis would have a huge following anywhere in the United States in this type of match. Just as Karl Boyes would have the same advantage in Europe or London.

I have to agree with Celtic on this one and am suprised that anyone could argue with it. However, I agree with most everyone else, given there is not much money in pool, logistics rule, regardless whether it gives someone an advantage.

Celtic,
Where is T.A.R. located? USA
Where is Accu-Stats located? USA

What production company does England have that can produce top quality live-streaming?

I can't ever recall a single epic money match up between two European players that was ever live streamed anywhere? Can you?

They all want our money, the fame and acclaim that goes with beating up on those nasty American brutes. :D

Until our friends north of the border or accross the pond are capable or even willing to spend some money on producing big time pool money match ups, I guess them fellas will need either a plane or boat ticket.

How would you know? I run the GB 9 Ball Tour in the UK and all our events are live streamed and available for watching afterwards at CueSport.TV. They put on excellant productions and cover many cuesports events all over the UK and sometimes in the rest of Europe too.

Now I'm curious

Well, obviously, I never heard of the GB 9 Ball Tour in the UK.
What big money matches have you guys hosted or promoted?
Any big challenge matches scheduled?

c`mon guys, pleeeeeease...
im just following this forum for years, but never had something to say, even when i have to read stuff like svb is the best in the world in money games or what ever (LLOOOLLL)
obviously im not from the states but this is not the reason to ask you: how can you ever discuss who`s the better player, karl or dennis??????????? karl boyes is a two times world champion and made 4 euro tour (the toughest tour in the world) finals in one year. and who is dennis hatch?? of course hes a strong players, but we have 30 players like him in europe (no joke). his first international tournament he made by a public vote, not because of his rankings. i have respect for him as a player, but not as a champion, cause he never competed in a international tournament like a world championship or so. (ok im not sure bout that, but i played the previous 6 years in 16 world championships and ive NEVER seen him. not telling that im the better player because of that, but i know that ive played the best guys in the world very often, and i cant remember ive played him.

karl is way better player but thank god he doesnt focus on playing moneygames vs random guys. he wants to compete champions of the world, not the champion of new york!!

anyway this match you are talking about will never happen. in may are the world 10 ball championships in manila, and no european player will be in vegas! but if a match like that would ever happen (or the match with svb vs daz at englishpool, which was the funniest thing i`ve ever seen), my money is on europe!

greez, stoj

Guys, Darren Appleton just told me Karl doesn't play money matches and never has. It has no interest in them so it's not a case that he's a coward or anything like that

So it is going to be a bit of a push for Karl to suddenly want to have his first big money match against a monster like Dennis away from home

So the chances of this match happening are very slim

I gotta say if Dennis knew Karl didn't play money matches and i'm sure all the top players know who does and who doesn't , then it is slightly poor form to call him out on a public forum.
I had know idea and I apologize to Karl for posting this!!! If I would have known I would have never asked...

I will play anyone from over there!! ANYONE!! And they ALL know that and the only one to step up was Darren!!! I will play all 30 of them LMAO.

dennis said he would play anywhere so why the continued geography arguments???

exactly

and its widely known that karl doesnt play for cash, probably reason dennis as asked to play him, knowin full well its not guna happen, well done

never mind karl this karl that,if dennis will play anywhere, why not give darren a re match in england

am sure the match would be for a large amount of cash so would be well worth travellin for,am sure it wont happen though for obvious reasons
