I gotta say that I am impressed with this new-and-improved video library on the IPT website: IPT Video Library

Ten pages in total of various matches on the IPT tournament trail and other instructional pool-related videos. The quality of the videos is EXCELLENT.

Here's one you may enjoy: Gerda Hofstatter vs. Earl Strickland. The before- and after-match colloquy between the two players makes it a very entertaining set. :D

Just got an e-mail about this recent change to the IPT website and thought I'd share it with y'all. I am currently procrastinating on my job today instead of working! :o

Add me in to the "I agree" column. The problem with those videos is that you have to pay for them. That would mean further lining the pockets of a known crook and con man. It also means that said crook would also have my credit card information, and there have already been a ton of stories about unauthorized charges and inability to cancel the recurring monthly membership fees. Oh, and credit card fraud was even one of his past specialties, for which he served prison time. No thanks, I'll pass on those videos.

The videos are free,I think there are about 30 that are in the library.

If you follow the link that JAM provided, it says that they are all premium videos, available only to premium members that pay $5.95 per month. The only videos that I am aware of that are free are some instructional videos, the live challenge matches, and the recorded challenge matches are up for a few days after they originally aired live. If there are a bunch of other free videos can you give me a link and tell me how to access them? Thanks.

I havent paid for membership and the videos do say premium next to them,I click on the video and it plays,all of them,it could be a glitch or Kevin likes me,lol,try it and tell me if it works for you. :wink:

I signed up on the website for free and I am able to watch plenty of matches.

I watched the Sigel - Schmidt match the other day, it was very well done - and Grady was awesome as always.

I haven't always agreed with the IPT. In fact, I was probably the most vocal opponent of what they were trying to do because I knew it couldn't last for very long, and in the end it didn't.

However, I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the challenge matches they have produced - and I believe they are headed in the right direction with their production, display, and promotion of pool.

They have a lot to overcome - a lot of trust issues with players and fans. I do believe (from what Mike Sigel has shared with me) that they are better financed today than they were back in 2005-2006. Kevin Trudeau is still there and still creating paydays for pool players despite everything that has been said and written about him.

I am more likely to give this thing a chance to grow - and I believe that KT and Co. is planning on taking these challenge matches to the next level in the not too distant future. When that happens, be sure that I will look at it again very closely. For now I will enjoy the matches and support the players that are playing in them.
 
Yeah, you can sign up for a free membership.

Unfortunately, I can't make it full-screen, and there's no total or elapsed time. Same for everyone else?

Add me to the roster of people who'll have nothing to do with anything associated with that con-man. I haven't even signed up for the "free" matches, nothing can be truely "free" where KT is involved. I'd rather pay an honest man like those at TAR.
 
Watching his "free" videos generates ad impressions for the IPT. The IPT then sells those ad impressions. By watching his content and visiting his site, you are putting money in his pockets. Are we really that desperate to watch matches?

While some of those matches may be great, the former players of the IPT should be sharing the revenue earned by the sale and rental of those videos.

The ripoff continues.

Maybe I'm blocking them, but I don't see ads anywhere. I assume IPT wants people to buy subscriptions. I will watch these matches guilt-free.

I don't think he means ads. Everytime you go to their website, it counts as a "hit". When a website gets lots of "hits", they take these numbers to advertisers to try and show them how popular the site is so that the company will pay to advertise there. By simply going to the IPT website you are giving KT strength in his marketing strategy. If you dont mind this, that is absolutely fine and I encourage you to watch all the free videos you want. I just refuse to help someone of such low-character. I refuse to trade my personal beliefs to watch pool matches. Besides, we've got TAR now.

Watch it 20 times a day if it makes you happy. You'll never hear me criticize you or anyone else for watching or supporting the IPT. I was just stating my personal beliefs on the situation. I'm a night owl, so I am bombarded with Trudeau advertisements at night and it gets frustrating seeing someone of his character prospering where so many honest and hard working people have failed. I just can't bring myself to ever support someone like that. But I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm sure I could sit here for days on end and watch the matches if it werent for the surrounding issues.

I understand the mixed feelings about the IPT, all things considered.

That said, the recent challenge matches, those players are getting paid. I don't know where the monies are coming from, but it may come from the sales of the IPT website products. I'm not sure.

I too think very highly of TAR (The Action Report), and in fact, I believe they are the pioneers of Internet challenge matches. They did it first, as we all know.

Recently, I noticed in a LIVE CHAT on a TAR video broadcast, there were about three or four dozen, tops, pool folk sweating the tournament. It was a lot of fun, conversing with others, kind of like we were all there sitting on the rail. :p

I will be the first to stay that I don't see how TAR does it, putting out EXCELLENT quality videostreams LIVE and then traveling to these events, paying for gas, lodging, food, travel, et cetera.

I know there are MANY on this forum, as one example, who are strong TAR supporters. I worry, though, that even with as many strong supporters that exist for TAR -- and I am one of them -- is it enough to sustain their continued growth? I sure hope so. They're the best thing to pool since the jump stick! :thumbup:

In the end, I support anything that promotes pool. I understand why some folks do not want to support the IPT, but I still see some benefit to the IPT's existence. Ask each one of the IPT challenge players who competed in recent times what they think about the IPT. It may be quite different than what the general pool public thinks.

So should the IPT just wither away and die? Should it continue to grow at a pace that may be beneficial to players for future events?

I guess we all have our opinions. I just wanted to contribute a little food for thought. :smile:

nice post JAM - and that bit of picked out there is the bottom line.

Even if every single AZ-B'er was subcribed to the site it's not like KT would then be lining his pockets with cash from it. At the end of the day the players are NEVER going to get conned again by KT unless they're completely stupid, which I doubt they are. If the IPT manages to get back on it's feet again and run a few tournaments then that's definitely good for pool and nobody loses anything - being stubborn and at least not wishing them the best is silly imo.
 
I don't personally like the IPT, I don't understand how an organization with such deep pockets can it so wrong IMHO.

BUT

Perhaps we shouldn't be so quick to crucify KT, he obviously enjoys the sport and I don't see any other money men lining up to do anything for the sport of pool.

I downloaded all of them to Realplayer and can now watch in full screen and with good quality...
