Is anyone watching bonus ball?

Just watching Souquet and Hohmann talking in German, Putting on a clinic against Appleton and Shuff.

I know I'm in the minority here, But I rather enjoy watching stone cold world beaters shooting unbelievably epic shots on an incredible stage.

It doesn't hurt that I'm learning all kinds of top shelf shots that only come up once in a blue moon in most games.

But to each their own. They need to get Keith McCready.

I have become a fan of Bonus Ball. I like all pool games, so all of the strategy keeps my attention on the table. I also love watching all of these guys play!

I have not paid for a PPV yet, but that's because my work schedule and family schedule suck! If/when the matches get released on DVD or a VOD, I will purchase them all.

All good

Now I mentioned two people not clapping to make a point and offer some advice.

I'm sure the bonus ball people get sick of being told what they should do when they already plan on doing it but I love this game and I want it to succeed so I will offer advice anyway.

When recording those TV matches to pitch to the networks you have to fill the stands. Pay people if you have to and offer them an open bar. :)

Have a warm up guy come out and get them excited and tell them that they need to clap and cheer at the awesome shots and especially when someone wins.

Introduce each player one by one with their nickname and make sure the crowd goes wild.

Have Lee Brett show more excitement when announcing the match along with all the other dialogue he does.

Make sure the bonus ball girl is smiling and clapping and looking like she is enjoying herself.

Most importantly make sure the players celebrate like it's The Mosconi cup on all wins all nice shots etc. I'm sure that they will do this when it comes to the playoffs and championship anyway.

Scott Frost and Earl Strickland's personalities have been entertaining but that's about it. No one gets very pumped over all these unbelievably amazing shots.

I have loved every minute of it but I know what America needs to keep their short attention spans. It might fly as it is now in the Asian countries but I want to watch it on my cable channels.

Thanks for listening. I hope I haven't offended anyone.

Who ever is in charge should take your advice. I think your suggestions would help.

Yeah I watch it all the time

Good entertainment, fun to see the pros interact and especially play a game they haven't mastered and are still figuring out.

Have played the game some, don't sell it short, has a lot going on relative to strategy, position play, safety play, critical shot making and so on

I'm not much of a hater by nature and find little to hate here, but, I'm sure there are all kinds of reasons to do so

I do find it sad that people draw a line in the sand about watching it for free versus spending less than ten bucks for three two hour matches. But, it does help me understand the absolute lack of sponsorship for the sport in general. I would imagine that reading some of these posts are part of a sponsor's due diligence process prior to making a commitment.

I would like to clarify my statement that I have only watched the free matches.

I am busy. I have a 3 yo and a 2 month old and a new house that we moved into 3 days before my son was born. There is no way I can carve out that kind of time to watch BB. I am lucky I get to watch the free streams really. So given that I really only have the time for one match a week I am going to watch the free one. I work some weekends too so its not like I have a ton of lazy saturdays. There is no line in the sand. I actually really enjoy the sport and wouldn't have a problem paying for it. I think I will finally make my monetary contribution this week when I order that bonus ball set I have been eyeing.

I'm planning on attending the Miami vs. NY match on July 18. Can you just walk up to the arena and buy tickets or do you have to purchase them in advance?

I am a huge supporter of the PPV streams online. I buy every Accustats and Tar stream. BB is just not a game that I care about and never will. The pros playing can't even figure out the rules; so how will I ever figure it out. This is not the future of pool and never will be.

Pay people if you have to and offer them an open bar.

And make sure that they are not drinking it out of paper bags. Also show them where the wash rooms are so they are not off peeing on the carpet or in a door way somewhere.

I watched the first free stream, it was a nightmare. Watched the second for a bit and it was all I could take for a few minutes.

I spent the weekend watching the Cole Dickson Memorial Tourney. UStream. Other than a bit of buffering on Sat it was 100% better than the first 2 free Streams from Bonus ball.

What can I say, maybe its just me but I'm not ready for a new game. I have zero interest in orange and purple balls. Even if it hits TV I doubt that it will generate the amount of interest needed to make it past the first pilot show.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned Bonus Ball to one of the regulars in the hall that goes for the BCA every year in Vegas. I jokingly asked him if he was going to take in any Bonus Ball. He smirked and said, "I'm going to Vegas for real pool".

You would probably have to offer free limo rides, free alcohol and pay the BCA players and even then, I doubt you'd get enuff to fill the stands.

The rules and strategy get the players talking and debating.

The best part about Bonus Ball is that the players are TALKING!!! Have you heard Souquet talk to Thorsten in German? Have you heard Souquet's brilliant mind vocalized when he is coaching Engle? Jesse immediately obeys. The outlaws will be in the Super Bowl match.

The best part is the rules and deep strategy because the players have to talk. Have you heard Frost coaching Kennedy? Kennedy shoots straighter but Frost is the brains and the puppet master.

Ever heard Nevel talk in a nine ball match? But in bonus ball he tells Strickland and Kiamco and santos the right shot Instantly! He is a genius with a monster stroke.

I've watched 1000s of hours of pool and saw Putnam call a 5 railer and it was the right shot! He made it! Never seen that shot before. Then I set it up and made it. Then I taught a girl that shot and she freaked out! I got laid because of bonus ball!!!

Good man!

Make sure you get the scoreboard also, adds to the laughs

Hell yeah I watch all the free streams and been following up on all matches. It great for the sport and there has been a lot of chatter on AZ about WPBL. It's time for it own section. I say we try and put it to a vote I would like one place to go to read about the other matches i don't get to see. GO Bonus Ball !!!!!!!!!

Ultimate 10-Ball Challenge and Southern Classic both have a paid ad banner on AzBilliards. Bonus Ball hasn't spent one penny to advertise on this forum. Why should they have their own section?

I haven't watched, I don't know the rules and don't want to know them. I don't think pool needs a new game, but I do respect the people behind this giving the players an opportunity. So far, it hasn't got my interest.

I'll ditto this post and add, I don't know where to watch it if I had to because I don't follow all these threads that tell you how to. No interest at all here.

A fine point.

Except that by purchasing advertising here, BB would have to admit that this site could help them, and that is something they have been trying to avoid from the get go.

Remember, we are not the target audience....

I remember reading that when it was posted by a BB minion for sure.

Still, as much as the BB minions come on here praising BB in all its glory, a paid ad banner would go a long way to show they are trying to work within a fractured American pool industry.

After the inexperienced staffperson's re-scheduling on top of an American promoter's event, there is no attempt on BB's end to do the right thing. The BB minions post on this forum ad nauseum. The right thing to do would be to not only pay for an ad banner, but maybe, just maybe, BB would be better served with a professional public relations person to smooth out the rough edges created by the inexperienced staff they hired at BB's genesis, which, I might add, has done permanent damage by their lack of expertise in the area they are working in.

It's akin to hiring a railbird to be an air traffic controller at a busy airport. :o

at the risk of sounding like a big ol nit, i will say that i dont see the reason to pay to watch bb since there is a ridiculous amount of free pool online now that features stone champions like the pinoys, top euros or even older accustats piracy. Not to mention all the free content out there that features regional tours streaming, where you can get a good look at the better players from around the country (USA).

If people were looking to pay money for streaming, I personally think a better value for the dough is buying into Big Trucks yearly membership. You get alot more programming and variety of games from barbox 8/9/10, big table 8/9/10/1p, tournies and action matches. Plus he had an offer going where you get a free kamui tip too with the membership.

/end of my nit analysis/
