Is it really necessary???

Smart marketing tip of the day number 1 is to not confuse potential customers by posting multiple threads featuring the same items with different prices (and sometimes no prices, but that we should look for them in a future thread) and descriptions.

Smart marketing tip of the day number 2 is to not piss off the entire az community by overbumping and spamming, since the az community is, of course, your potential customers.

Smart marketing tip of the day number 3 would be to honor the deals that you have made. Making a deal, getting paid, then refunding the money and relisting the cue for more money is, to put it mildly, dishonorable. Remember, other potential buyers are watching.

Smart marketing tip of the day number 4 has to be that if you are appealing to fellow az'ers to buy from you to help offset the cost of expensive medicines you are receiving in the hospital, AND, that you have, in fact, received MONEY GIFTS from a number of az'ers who sympathized with your medical situation, it is beyond bad form to then be on here buying anything.

To the op - that really is a nice George case.

Kickin' Carnegie-I agree, bump for a nice George case.

Mali cue is not not not for sale

I was gonna suggest an over/under on how quickly there would be another flood of his "FS" posts, but a "Buy" post beat me to it........lol.

This thread was a fantastic idea, and the It's George is a beautiful case. Someone will be lucky to have it.

I will now add my 2 cents. I truly do not think forcing anyone who sells on AZ to become a club member is a good idea. I honestly believe that will make the for sale forum filled with dealers, and dealers alone. Gone will be the great deals someone finds sometimes because a regular joe needs to sell their cue, or case, or whatever. Becoming a club member is always a great idea, especially to support the site. But the truth is, not everyone can actually afford it, even though they may be on here buying things. I know too many people who spend their non-expendable cash on things they do not need, but I am in no position to pass judgment. I personally plan on becoming a club member myself, but I begrudge nobody for using the site for free. That is part of what makes this site so wonderful in the first place.

The people using this site certainly do need to exhibit some common courtesy though, and this situation epitomizes that statement. I would hope that the mods would step in at the point that it becomes known that a good percentage of the AZers are pissed off at one person for abusing their priveliges. And the fact is, people that abuse the system like this usually do not have anything but junk to sell anyway.

Not to piss anyone off but I think the point has been made quite clearly. I also think that the message has been received since there has been an extreme lull in said activity by Ace.
Can this thread now be moved out of this section before it becomes the little sister so to speak of those very threads it was created to publically expose. Far better that what was hoped for appears to have been accomplished with the help of a lot of well respected members.
If the message was not made clear (only time will tell) then by all means we need to re~visit.

i know i will probably get red repped for this, but whatever. I feel that all the suggestions that were made are not very good ones. leave the forum just the way it is. if someone logs on for the first time to find a cue, how will he/she know what to search for? if you limit bumps, how will someone keep their deal going? you may search for something to try and find a good deal, but you will get tired of going through all the pages that you may just pass up a deal and settle for something you dont really want. i search for things all the time, and the list is usually about 10+ pages. im not about to go through each page to find exactly what im looking for. this is still a free site, so let the people here freely do as they please.

Now on to the next topic. i dont agree with what ace is or has done in the past, but leave him be. do you want me telling you what to do or how to live your life? i didnt think so. if you see the first page is completely full of his posts, well guess what go to page ****ing 2. i get tired of reposts, but you know what im not crying about it because i can just go on to another page. im sorry if you dont like what im saying, but guess what im a grown ass man and im not crying because an azer bumped his post too much. what if i commented on your post and said **** thats the ugliest cue ive ever seen, please remove the pics? real ettiquette is to not bash on someones thread. im frankly dissapointed in all of you for *****ing. red rep i dont give a crap. but cyber bullies are still bullies. starting a thread because youre tired of him bumping what hes trying to sell is bad etiquette. pm him and ask him to limit it. i wont buy from him because what ive read about in previous posts, but leave him alone. i agree he should sell the mali for the original price to the original buyer, i agree its bullshit hes selling to pay for meds but is also trying to buy a new cue, nut you know whats awesome about me, ive decide not buy from him. nobody is forcing you to buy from him. i see through his scams and i see you do too, so cry me a river, build a bridge, and get the **** over it.

nice case.

i hope everyone has a great day.

i hope everyone has a great day.

Some AZ folks see this place as a community where we are all members and, as such, feel it acceptable to try to discuss, establish and enforce some type of community standards in order to make AZ a fun and safe place to hang out and buy, sell and trade pool related equipment.

I think I understand that you feel this thread is just us bullying some guy and telling him how to act. I think I see that you object to people telling others what to do. I guess the part I don't understand about your post is, if you object to the behavior of people discussing how others should act in a public thread, why are you yourself engaging in that practice?

I did PM him regarding his selling methods. He responded by asking what I was talking about and who was it and what were they saying? I sent him a copy of this thread which I think answered his questions perfectly. This way (the open discussion in a public thread) ace could see exactly who it was and what they were saying. Considering that the thread exactly answered the exact questions ace asked when I informed him people were discussing his sales tactics, it seems to me to be valuable in at least that way.

This is how policies and standards are developed, agreed on and understood.

Thanks

Kevin

i was simply doing the same thing just to show how it feels. i meant no disrespect to anyone, but i see this more often than not. i understand what you are saying, i really do. i agree with all of you, but i feel that a thread about it is uncalled for. everyone should just load up his inbox. i feel that a public show is the wrong way to handle the situation. i love az and am on here daily. i see the numerous and annoying posts that are bumped eevery 5 minutes as well, but i just ignore them and move on. i just think its up to no one but the poster to stop his scamming. we are all smart enough to see through the bs, but it could have been handled differently. thank you for the response. please dont take my words as disrespect, i was just *****ing in general. have a great day.

I personally think it's awesome that these kinds of threads give me a very clear picture of who, and who NOT, to do business with..Very valuable information IMO!

And I think its good for us all to have frank and open discussion about what our policies and procedures and standards are. Its how this stuff is formed.

Thanks

Kevin

you know, i kind of agree. i was thinking about this the other day. you know how the action room has the good action thread, well why dont we make a good buyer or bad buyer thread? that would tell you who to or not to buy from.

That's a great idea. Why don't we call it the "Buyer / Seller transaction report" and make it a sticky?

Oh look, that bridge has already been built.

Kevin

i forgot to add, make it a list instead of post. one for bad transactions and one for good ones. screen names and real ones if possible.

Many of us also remember this place how it used to be 5 or more years ago . There are many things that are better about this place now . The wanted for sale section is not one of them . it is in desperate need of new rules and an overhaul. Az is not the small place it used to be.

I just usually look at someones iTrader.

iTrader doesn't necessarily tell the whole picture. There are shopping sites {shudder} where people with no lives flag up what they perceive as good deals offered by supermarkets etc, and people can vote them hot or cold. I'd like a similar system introduced here, where we can vote great deals hot and crap deals cold. A simple, anonymous system that helps regulate the market and encourage good sellers. The hottest deals stay at the top of the board, with the coldest sinking to the bottom, where they belong.

Omg

I have no life. I don't believe I read that whole thread. And I agree. I was going to buy a couple low end cues, but couldn't figure out the photos and the price list on a separate thread. And keep AZ just the way it is.

If someone has little to 0 itrader then I might not buy from them unless they ship to me first, I check itrader just like I would Ebay feedback. If someone has negatives I might not deal with them unless they are selling thousands of items then there is bound to be a transaction here or there that goes bad due to it getting lost in the mail or a defective product. I do feel more people should leave negative itrader for bad transactions with people but on here its not done enough.
