I keep telling my friends that I'm just going to buy a Cuetec R360 and be done with the crazy expensive sticks. I think if it is good enough for Shane (even though I know he is being paid to use it) then it is good enough for me.

My friends seem to think that he uses a custom made Cuetec? Like totally different from the advertised model he uses. Anyone have this information? And I know Shane can shoot with anything an it doesn't matter to him.
Thanks,
Tim

Justin probably remembers this better than I do, but I'm fairly sure it is a regular, off-the-rack cue that was either given or lent to him by a friend.

I'm not sure about Shane but I am sure that Earl did not use an off-the-shelf Cuetec

Pretty sure Shanes is a production model. It is a different design than what Earl had as it has a good joint with an all wood shaft. I think it is most likely a real production Cue Tech.

does his have Earl's signature on it? mine does.
i'm pretty sure Shane can go to "pool jail" for that.

I believe I remember from a TAR Podcast (When are those coming back btw?) that the cue is a regular production model Cuetec with an R360 shaft that was given to him by a fan/friend. His break cue is a regular production model as well. I believe he uses Kamui hard brown tips.

They are off the shelf sticks. His tips. I can't remember if he has a slight re-taper or not, but there are R360 cue-tec shafts. They don't play any better or worse than any other LD production cue. maybe a hair better if you ask me. I like the joint better than Uni-loc junk. seems to have a better feel than some...

Either way they are as off the shelf as most people's cues who have hit a 1,000,000+ balls. Shane's playing cue is ROUGH. check it out sometime if you can.

best,

Justin

Exactly what I remembered him saying although I thought he said that he uses a medium tip?

It was at the TAR match of Scott Frost and SVB on a barbox years ago that BigNasty said it was right out of the plastic wrapper !
Shane won that match easily.

Soon after that when I seen Shane at the Turning Stone I ask what tip he was using. He said trianlge.

MAKE SURE YOU GET R360 shaft with what ever model you want.
R360 is the main difference between the older stuff.
It is a LD shaft.

I liked mine the first shot I took with it.

Could be. That was the part I was a little foggy on, but then I thought I remembered being surprised that Shane preferred such a hard tip. So who knows? Maybe someone can rewatch the interview and give us the answer.

Yrs ago I went up to Denver/Showcase Billiards/Clay Etheridge and got one. They let me hit Every Cuetec on their Gold Crown to make my choice. I tried at least 70 cues, then narrowed it down from there by feel. It was a great way to do business and feel good about your purchase because of the ''hit''.

What do you mean by "rough?"

I wouldn't play with my shit beat up that bad. His shafts roll with a wobble, and dents and dings, the cue is beat up pretty good. Just makes me laugh. I asked him one time why he doesn't have his shafts cleaned ups. He says, You can't win a pool tournament with your shafts like that. or something to that effect....

He's a weird dude, but he plays lights out.

Yes, Shane shoots with off the rack Cuetec. CSI (CueSports International) hired SVB to do free clinics for all members at this year's BCAPL National Championships. It was really fun and cool idea! Many people got to shooting tips and aiming tips straight from Shane and someone always asked if he shot with any special 'Doctored up' Cuetec. He said, "No you can buy this from any vendor that sells Cuetec. He uses low deflection shaft (by Cuetec) and uses same cue to break and shoot.

S. G.

I am sure the shaft's roughness becomes just a little less of a concern with Michael Jackson's handware in force.

And anyone that thinks SVB has 'a' shaft is not thinking straight.

He has 2-3. When asked why he doesn't just have cue-tec send him 6-8, he says "I don't need em..." LOL.

i have one of Shanes cues at home with me, its bone stock cue, not special anything, it's here incase he needs it sometime, which happened once. good cue for playing for sure.

Funny to think of all the guys out there buying the most basic predators for like 400 bucks,
and they definitely need a BK2 or Sledgehammer or something for another 300ish.

Meanwhile the arguably best breaker and player is using $176.00 hardware.
Think I may get one as a birthday gift for some guys stuck with Players and Meuccis.
