Its George has my Case!!! (and won't send it back)

It's a just an Old, Worn Down, Original Hoppe Conversion Cue.
Don't stress.
You had a good run with it.
Move on.
Sentimental value is good but......
Send it to me so we will both be happy.
Maybe I missed a post, but I honestly have no idea what you are talking about now. Are you missing a Hoppe Original? [I suspect you aren't and you are just trolling because you disagree. If so, carry on.]

In any event, if the OP wants his case back, and has the time/effort/energy to fight for it, by all means he should definitely try to get it. And, as noted initially, if it were me - I would let a case go. I have too many other things going on to focus on a pool case.

That being said, there are situations (for me or anyone else), where it might be worthwhile, or desirable, to pursue. As presented, this doesn't appear to meet my threshold (although with other facts, it might). For others, this is one to go after.

I wish the OP luck in his endeavors, and hope he finds his case.

Unfortunate. Hope you get it back.

I will say this. I think It's George cases are among the best cases ever made (along with Whitten) and I hope someone eventually does continue making them.

Isn't there someone who knows Mike who can assist him with finding Wybrook's case?

I feel the exact same way as you do. If I had a crystal ball that told me "fight this for another year and you'll get the case back", I'd say "Nah, I'm good". This situation doesn't come with a crystal ball, so who knows how much time and energy this is going to take.

I understand why some people would be willing to put up the fight, but it's not in my nature. Maybe I'm just very fortunate that I have more important things to concern myself with.

Somehow I am being villainized here..

Everyone is saying how much of a stand up guy Mike is..
That's great!

All I did was send my case to the case maker to have a simple rivet fixed and I somehow lost my case now.

If I had known Mike was sick, I would not have sent it.
If I had known the business was for sale, I would not have sent it.
If I had known I would not get it back, I would not have sent it.

I spoke with Mike well before I sent my case and he assured me it was a quick fix and he would have it back to me fast. I have the text messages to show that.

If you don't know me, be assured there is no scam here. I make plenty of money and I could buy 5000 cases.. That's not my point. I have had that case for most of my pool career and I want to finish it out with that case.

Besides being worth a decent amount of change, its also very sentimental to me.

I wish people would stop jumping down anyone's throat who has an issue with a transaction. I explained it in detail and I haven't been hounding Mike at all. I call him once a month.. (shouldn't have to...)

I am a stand up guy if you ask anyone. I know just about everyone in the pool world and I have been around pool for most of my life. I know the hucksters and the con artists, and I stay away from them.

I don't think my posts have been in anyway inflammatory or derogatory, so let's move on in a better direction.

Thanks,

Adam Wheeler

Adam,
You've done no wrong. I get a kick out of the "Swell guy" comments and blah, blah, blah. A swell guy would still be answering the phone for you and at worst opening his mouth and saying "Sir, I flat out lost your case, can't do the job, etc and would like to make it right"...... A SWELL GUY doesn't go on silent mode. Failing health is one thing we can all understand. Unfinished business is unfinished business and needs to be dealt with. By himself or someone close to him if he's incapable...... In business every customer should be treated the same. Be it your first customer or your last. That's how a swell guy runs his business.

I hope you didn't take my post as being against you. You're definitely right that you should get your property back, along with a nice apology. I just don't have the patience that it may take to get that result. Good luck.

Update!!

Ok.. I just got off the phone with Mike and he said he has looked all over for my case and can't find it.

Somehow it got misplaced or thrown out or something..

He has offered to make me the same case so I accepted.

I really wasn't after a new case, but I accept the gesture with thanks.

I really like his cases and the sentimental value cannot be replaced, but at least I will have something now.

Thanks to anyone who may have helped me in this matter.

Glad to hear that you and Mike came to a mutual agreement on this.

it hasnt ended. the talk just did. hold on to the case you got until you get the new one.

the right response should have been tell me what case you want in the same value range and ill buy it or send you the money for it.

the guy may sound fine and i suspect he is a great guy but his track record isnt. and he said he was looking at it and that isnt true.

you may be back here in 6 months or a year with a new story.

i hope you end up happy nothing was your fault. and you handled better than all the others that had problems with dealers.

The one thing I would suggest is to have a clear agreement with him that if your case does somehow turn up for what ever reason (he just missed spotting it and ends up coming across it later, or the guy he mistakenly sent it to contacts him to let him know he got the wrong case, etc) that he agrees to fix the rivet and return it to you (or at least just return it). You two can come to and agreement on whether you would have to return the new case he made for you or whether he would let you just keep it or maybe you could pay him half price for it or whatever you agree to now in case the old one shows back up later.

I suggest all this because if he ever does come across it at some point he may just figure that he already made you whole and it is a done deal and not even let you know if you don't have this prior agreement. Make clear you want it back whenever and however it pops back up and make sure he in in agreement that he will contact you and get it back to you if it does. Good luck.

Only cue I have ever owned over a $1000, the same thing happened. It was a Bludworth, and the collar started buzzing. Talked to Leonard several times, sent it back, we talked some more, it was fixed, and then nothing. No cue showed up so i called again. This time the story changed to, I never had your cue. It was a big shit storm. In the end i was left with a civil suit judgement as my only recourse, in which nothing would come of it.
I also owned a OB shaft at one time. Same thing happened to it :(.
Only in pool.
OP I hope you get your case back, if not, chalk it up to the game you love, and laugh to keep from crying

That is really messed up. Very sorry to hear about your Bludworth cue not being returned to you.
