Jay Helfert owes an apology!

It's not a beef, exactly.

Several of the early tries were captured on video, including 15-and-outs by Allen Hopkins and John Schmidt. We (the guy who supplied the video equipment and I) are in the process of figuring out how to make those and some 14.1 runs available, probably on the AZB TV section.

I would love to see a 15 + out in 1 pocket! That seems amazing! Please try to get that video posted. Thanks!

I thought someone said the last try was a 9, which means the first 4 tries on that 60 were 51!!! Is that true?

Yes, he hung up number 61 trying to break out a cluster.

Don't fret.......I hear that you can still get r done with a short pole, just requires more effort and better technique:confused:

I didn't think that one would get by the rejoinder committee!

thread needed some sarcasm Terry. good on ya for being light hearted.

Olauzon,
You're my friend and I'm glad we can laugh together. That's one of the main reasons I love this place. Everyday (not saying I'm here every day!:) ) but everyday that a person ;) was here, they can laugh if they read some of the responses.
As a matter of fact, at dinner tonight, I told my wife that people on AZB are complaining that I'm not on there enough posting as often as I used to post. So, after I did the dishes and got a load of laundry started, I meandered over to the empty chair in front of her computer and...WALLA!
Here's another brick in the great wall of AZB forum land.:)

PS- And this is an IMPORTANT PS...I can't wait till Jay wakes up from his exhaustion from the DCC and logs back on to this thread! He may have went to bed (or passed out) sad, but hopefully, he'll wake up happy!
BUT, if he wakes up grumpy, when he reads some of the 'other stuff" written in these posts, this thread has the recipee to turn into a real slobber-knocker!

And finally, this...

...would someone please call all the participants and have them assemble immediately.....WITH their cues

League of Super Best One Pocket Friends assemble!

Music: Ride of the Valkyries
Sound FX: A loud break shot
Voice-over:
"Alex, with the power of pixie magic!
John, with the power of 400 balls in his pocket!
Cliff, with the power to join anything to anything else!
Grady, with the power of endless anecdotes!"

Cut to a dank subterranean lair somewhere beneath the Siberian tundra. A sinister figure in a stained green cloak is hunched over an elaborate keyboard, surrounded on all sides by giant video screens showing a game of pool from every conceivable angle in slow motion. Suddenly his points wildly with a dirty, crooked finger.

"THERE IT IS! There is the moment Jay uses his magneto-gravity powers and sucks the 60th ball right into the pocket! I've got that rat-bastard now!"

He types furiously on the keyboard, then slams it down in sudden frustration.

"What? My account is banned! No way! So the conspiracy must go all the way to the top. Curse your yellow hide Helfert. Curse it to Hell!"

Cut to Jay Helfert, riding in the back of a stretch limo and swigging from a bottle of champagne. With him are two bikini-clad prostitutes and Gabe Owen, wearing nothing but a tight pair of leather chaps and a nose ring.

"Yo Gabe, my man! Stop bogarting all that smack, me and the girls here are losing our buzz."

He hands the champagne bottle to one of the girls and flips open a jewel-encrusted cell phone.

"Hey KT. Yeah, it's Jay. Listen baby it all went down just like you said it would. Yeah, they didn't know what hit 'em. No, don't worry about him, it's all taken care of. No problem, I'll drop off your cut in the usual place. Later."

why whine ?

Where do these guys come from ? If Jay Helfert had run all past tournaments and been able to attend all the failed attempts at
organizing a Professional Players Assn. We would be bigger than
the PBA. (and better respected)
No one has been a straighter shooter IMO.

I'm sure you also..........are preparing to file a patent on a drug that cures cancer, diabetes, obesity and cardio-vascular disease.

Sorry Kevin Trudeau already wrote a book about this one.

Too bad...for you...that monorchidism is not a treatable defect.

Jim

LMAO...I had to use dictionary.com to figure out what monorchidism is; it will be my new word for the week. Is there medical terminology for the 3rd nipple too....is it trinipplism?

How about Terry's word "slobber-knocker"? Now there's new territory! WTF is a slobber-knocker?

Jim,
A "slobber-knocker" is an old fashioned word describing a brutal fight. So much so that the "slobber" is literally knocked out of the person who it was knocked out from. That's my definition, not Webster's. I grew up with this term because I fought a lot in my younger years. I had 39 amateur boxing fights as a lightheavyweight and this was a gym term that we tried hard to fulfill against anyone we sparred, fought or street-fighted. This was a "tongue in cheek" term I used in my post as hyperbole.:)

Sometimes, a video is worth a thousand words (or a dozen punches):D

*** WARNING:eek:*** -Before viewing the video, ask the women, children and those who don't like violence to go for a potty break. I don't want any bad rep for violent content videos from someone who may be opposed to seeing someone's head get banged around a little. As a favor to the viewers, I chose one that did not include rap or hip-hop music background. (Yuck & double yuck!)

Thanks Terry. I had put 2+2 together and figured it out before I posted but still had to comment on it because it's such a colorful and descriptive phrase... which, I might add, the You Tube link certainly illustrated very well. I'd forgotten that fight. Slobber-knocker.... great line I want to remember for the next time somebody really smashes a break or bangs a shot. "Wow! That was a realy old fashioned slobber knocker!". Fun.

I don't know why I'm bothering to respond in this deal, but here goes. Have you followed this thread at all? Bob Jewett said he had to lock the room because there was video equipment in the room which he was responsible for and he needed to get some sleep because he had to be back at 10 am for the straight pool. Perfectly understandable on Bob's part and perfectly understandable for Jay to move to a different table in order to allow those who had paid their money to finish up.

If I was Bob Jewett I would have done exactly the same thing, and if I was Jay Helfert I also would have done the same thing. It's not like he moved it from a diamond to an olhausen or a bar box. You act like Jay did some sneaky deal and moved to an easier table to help out his buddies.

You aren't making yourself look good in this deal. If I was you I would make nice and move on.
I have been following this thread and agree totally with your perspective. If I were the player in the lead in the competition I would of been upset to,but not with Jay,he had to make a quick decision and he did what he felt was necessary. The decision Jay made was not a self serving one nor was he trying to give anyone in particular an edge,he did what he thought was right.Jay you created a competiton that was competitive, challenging, and entertaining and you should be rewarded for your efforts. In regard to Mika, yes you had the high run on a table that was more difficult to play on and all you got was respect instead of possibly winning the competition, but then again you must consider that there was a chance your score may not of held up,and you also should recognize that anyone running 60 balls on the tournament table may have been a more difficult feat then running 47 on the table the competition started on.

This was like hollering at your mailman for bringing your VISA bill. Jay worked to do the best he could with what he had to work with and still, he gets blasted.
I've read this thread and after coming to the end, was kind of curious if Jay read any more of the posts past the last one he posted. He sure got a lot of support and hopefully, he noticed.

I came across this yesterday on youtube. The subject comes up in this interview with Alex Pagulayan and he backs up Jay Helfert.
