My good friend Jeff Hoeksema aka Cold Cream (inside joke) passed away last evening. He was much too young!! Jeff was originally from Clarkston, MI, but he touched the lives (and reached into the pockets) of many people throughout our state. Many people may remember Jeff from Cushion and Cue East Detroit/Kelly Cue. He worked and played pool there for many years. He was a father, a friend and a hell of a pool player. Although he will be sadly missed, he will live on in the memory of all that knew him.

Rest in peace my friend,
Dave Krenzel

Condolences to his family.

Is Jeff the guy that used to take orders for Andy Gilbert? It seems he was the one that I dealt with when ordering cues from Andy?

If so, he was a very nice guy and even though I don't know his age, he seemed rather young from talking to him. May he rest in peace.

Wow....... I spoke to Jeff several times, seemed like a really nice guy.

His family are in my prayers...

Dave, sorry to hear about your buddy, I never hung around on the east side so don't think I new him. I am sure he was a good guy, he is in a better place now.

Sorry to hear about this. I remember watching him play in the 2004 Glass City Open and a few of his buddies were cheering him on by "razzing" him by calling out Cold Cream whenever he was at the table. The only thing I could figure was that his name rhymed with Noxema.

Thanks for sharing this info.

Sad news indeed. I met him at Hall of Fame a few years back. He seemed like a good man.

Dave,

I am so sorry to hear about Jeff. We used to banter quite a bit when I was in Detroit. He always put up with my silly humor... Condolences to his family. Btw, I hope you're doing well!

My condolences on the loss of your friend. Sounds to me like he will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and that will be his legacy.
