I just got off the phone with Jimmy Reid. He just got back from the doctor after having a CAT scan and the news is encouraging. At this time he is CANCER FREE!!! He is still having other health issues which is leaving him weak. Jimmy said to thank everyone on AZ for the thoughts and prayers.

Good to hear. You know this man has no quit in him!

Thank God, I needed some good news today. I'm so happy for him, he will gain his strength back pretty quickly. Man i'm happy for him and his loved ones.

Jimmy - Helena and I will be comin up to see you as soon as you are ready. Take it easy and we love ya! Good to hear the great news.

Great news for sure....Find it kind of interesting that when great 9 ball players are mentioned ( or just great players ) that Jimmys name seems to be mentioned so little. Maybe it's just me or where I've been reading but it kind of seems to be that way. When I first started to play pool his was one of the first web sites I visited and enjoyed very much. Great solid information on his site for sure. I have only seen him once and that was at DC 2 yrs. ago, still had a great stroke and played well if I'm not mistaken.

That is awesome news! I personally know how great he must feel right now! All the best to Jimmy!

I can tell you that for a while, about 1980 or therabouts, NOBODY at The Rack in Detroit could handle Jimmy playing even. NOBODY ! He was the best I ever saw for the money...Tom

I've had some health problem myself and I wish Jimmy the best. It's easy to overlook your health until something goes wrong. I wish him the best.....

What a great way to start my day! God bless you, Jimmy!

Last time I spoke to Jimmy, he was at the DCC. He was chuckling and laughing on the phone, and I would have never known that he was feeling bad.

Jimmy won the U.S. Open in 1985, BTW. The first time I met him was my very first time at the U.S. Open. Jimmy was driving a big ol' Lincoln or Cadillac, I think, and we all went out to dinner, with him driving. The first impression I had of Jimmy was that he was so intelligent. You could tell by the way he formed his words and thought processes.

Then I was privileged to get to hear Jimmy tell some old stories with Keith when they were each on the road. Man, can Jimmy talk too! Those who know him know EXACTLY what I mean! But it is his infectious giggle that warms my heart. Whenever I'm around Jimmy, I can't help but have a good time.

For those who don't know it, he's got a GREAT website with some cool instructional products: http://www.freepoollessons.com

My favorite picture of Jimmy Reid and Keith McCready (depicted on the right) below.

There's two Aces for you. I wouldn't want to have to draw against this pair.

Jimmy's Improving One Step At A Time.........

I talked to Jimmy a couple of days ago and he is able to take small bites of food and small sips of water and swallow them without much difficulty. He still has to have a feeding tube in order to function. But with Jimmy's determination and strong will to survive, this will get better I'm certain. Jimmy has always been a strong fighter no matter the odds. In fact, the the more the odds are stacked against him, the better he performs. Before the doctor gave him the news of being cancer free an oncologist had given him only two years to live. Jimmy had stage 4 neck and throat cancer. Aggressive chemotherapy is what saved him. I will keep everyone posted as soon as I receive updates. Paul

Thanks so much for the update. That Jimmy Reid is one tough cookie! Here's wishing him the very best and that he gets through this difficult time with flying colors. Looks like he's on his way already! :)
